Random Rants VII: Why do they ALWAYS do that?!

We also don't have cafeterias and lunch breaks... :) When I said neither of my highschools had a cafeteria I meant a place to buy food inside the building, not the cafeteria-like thing that they have in the US for example, that I've never seen here.

However it's almost impossible to implement a lunch break here since school is often 8 hours long without it, for the 13-16 year olds... With a lunch break it would make for 9 hours, and with the kind of traffic and distances we have in this city, it often takes people 45 min-1 hour to get to school and another 45m-1h to get back, so it would mean 11 hours of being away for school in some days...

Yesterday I was feeling fine. Today I woke myself up at 6 am coughing. Its just gotten worse and i think i have pneumonia. again.

Why do people do that when they vainly try to make sense of the world by perceiving it downward through a top of a narrow straw in a cup when in reality it is made up in a series of complicated and related parts that has no bottom?

Work. Work, work, work. 2 essays, 2 7-page chapter outlines, a chart on colonial sentiments and events leading to the Revolution, a lab report, 3 essay skeletons, an article analysis, verbs work...

I hate my coworker. He's such a jerkoff who has no clue how to do his job.

Outside visiting hours we screen all visitors coming in. We take down their names and the patients name and where the patient is located. We call up, obtain permission for the visit, and then send them up.

So these three visitors come into the hospital and he lets them go without signing them in, and I ask him why he just let them go. He said that it was okay since they said they were just going to see their parents.

I'm like "we're supposed to sign them in" and he says "no we're not, that's not our job." I'm like "WTH, that's exactly our job, no exceptions." He says "no, dog, we're just supposed to keep an eye on things and make sure nobody is causing any trouble, we don't do that for people who are just going to see their parents in the hospital." I tell him that he failed to do his job properly since we don't make exceptions for any visitors, and most visitors have no problems following procedure anyways.

Then he enters ebonics mode and flips out and says "dude you need to stop being such a b---- ass ho man," and "dog you need to chill out and stop being such a whiny b---- ass n-word."

WTH? I'm just trying to do his job properly. He thinks we don't screen visitors coming into the hospital after hours? That's our primary duty. Literally, that's the most important aspect of our job. WTH is with some people?

I agree. The world isn't something you can just dump something on. It's not a big truck. It's a series of tubes.

That is another way of saying it.:)

Are these tubes the same or different in the matter of substances?:mischief:

Can these tubes have any potential of being united into one big one?:mischief: *Joking

Did these visitors caused any trouble? If not, then why do you doubt his instinct?

Hospital. Policy. When Les buys the hospital then maybe he can set the rules.
The question is not about the rules or the policy that the Hospital holds, it is a question on why not trust your fellow co-worker.

It has nothing to do with that. It has everything to do with following the rules of the hospital or you get fired. Very simple.

I assume that it's not an option to let him do his job poorly and get himself fired since there is no way to prove whether it's you or him who sucks?

That is a mystery isn't it? Did the guy get fired by not strictly obeying the policy of the hospital? If he still continuing to work there and management never took the necessary action of correcting his behavior, then the other guy who is complaining about him not following the rules is something of unsubstantiated grievance.

Hmm, I would think that hospital regulations outside visiting hours are a pretty damn important thing to be respected... they are there for a reason!! It's like being hired as a security checker at an airport and just letting some people go through, just like that, because they're "going to meet their families in Florida" or "they really need to go to the restroom"... makes just about that much sense!

I am not denying that it is or not important, I am just curious about the fate of the worker who did not correctly obeyed the strict policy of signing every single soul that have entered the hospital. Is he still employed? Has he been reported? If he was reported, and nothing happen, then it is not the man's fault but the management.

In one sense you are correct. Who is going to go tattle over something so minor as a coworker letting in three people without signing them in? No one, because no one really cares that much. The only time anyone is going to care is when a worker lets people in without signing them in and the people cause mass chaos and start killing everyone on the floors. Then it will be time to point fingers and play the blame game.
