Random Rants X: Mraarrrrrrr!!!!!!

what happened?

I was really looking forward to coming home for Christmas and participating in all the family traditions and whatnot, and then most of it didn't happen. I expected a cheaper Christmas, I don't care about the gifts anyways, but I didn't expect "less" Christmas. :(

I had a dental procedure a few days ago...and my back gum is so swollen that my mouth can barely on open on the right side. I've been popping painkillers like Rush Limbaugh for about three days now...and its only JUST starting to go down. I hope I'm back to normal before I get home, or I'm in trouble...I have two interviews the day after I get back to Ohio!

That vicodin stuff is addictive. I'm glad my bottle of it mysteriously disappeared shortly after my cheeks stopped swelling from losing my wisdom teeth.

Sushi is awesome.

Indeed. I'm a recent convert to that, having been a member of the anti-sushi camp for so long.

What, you never saw any of TheRat's rants on the subject?

You might ask Plot for a word or two on Singapore, IIRC he did his postgrad studies there, it being a former British dependency and all.

My father and my grandfather got pretty drunk...and they're very annoying when drunk. -.-;

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean...I'm kind of in the same boat too. This is the first year our whole family isn't together...and since we're all moving to different corners of the country (both coasts and the deep south), who knows when we'll all be together again?

Yeah, they didnt give me the good stuff, which is prob. a good idea. I'm just eating Advil like they're skittles

Oh my friend got addicted to that stuff. He overdosed on it just a few weeks ago and had to be taken to a hospital to get his stomach pumped. I think he's stopped taking it since then, but that's some dangerous stuff if you get hooked.

Yeah, there's a reason I generally refuse the "pill" treatment for most things (with the obvious exception for viral or bacterial diseases, or antivenin); I prefer to fight it out myself or solve it without medication, even if its generally to my own detriment. That includes not taking Dimeatap or Nyquil or even cough drops. I might take a pain suppressor for a particularly horrific or enduring injury, but only for the worst of it, I usually take myself off it long before you're "supposed to," but that's partly because the powerful opiate drugs do crazy stuff to my whole digestive system.

Eh, your like me regarding that...I treat medicine and doctors like warlocks and black magic. Strange considering I'm dating a nurse. Almost called her a witch once. Wouldnt live to see the end of that argument. *shudder*

I just found out one of my favorite relatives is sick and can't come visit for Christmas. :( Bummer, because he's one of the funniest guys I know. Imagine that, being sick on Christmas.

I'm sick myself. I have a cold, stuffed up nose, soar throat, and cough. And I am tired. But I got the commemorative edition of Rolling Stone magazine about Obama :)

I miss very very important things when I'm tired. like...the point.

For me its mostly pride, pride that I don't need some silly medicine when my life isn't in danger, pride that I can change and take care of myself, pride that I don't always pick the easiest solution, because it's not always the best one.

Most of my christmas presents aren't here yet. Damn you, snow!

I dislike the fact that people get very expensive things for Christmas while I'm stuck with getting cheap stuff (mostly dollarama).

Other people are like, "Wow! I got a camera, a PSP..."
And then I can be like, "Right, I got uhh, food from the dollar store."

No amount of PSPs and cameras can fill the space of your own personal emptiness.

"It's the thought that counts."

Well, I guess the main point of my rant is, is that it makes me seem dirt poor because sometimes there's a spoiled brat amongst them that thinks they got "less than what they deserved" because they "only" got a PS3, 360, a Wii...

No, actually I was ranting about people who say aforementioned saying when they can actually afford to buy decent gifts.
