I've been doing these guided meditations on an app on my phone.. before I go to sleep.. sometimes.. I started doing it when I found out I had super high blood pressure. Meditation was recommended not only by my doctor, but also my sister. And it seemed really easy to do, just 5-10 minutes every couple days, or whatever. Why not try it?
So anyway, this app lets you pick a topic.. Sleep, motivation, love, discipline, pure awareness, etc. whole bunch of assorted topics you can find meditations on.
I tried a "motivation" one the other day, it was 18 minutes long. I didn't think it worked.. but.. the thing is, these meditations almost always relax me and calm me down.. so I like doing them anyway, even if they don't allow me to open my inner eye, or understand what my right toe is going through, or whatever
But since I did that meditation a couple days ago, I got a whole bunch of stuff done!! Cleaned the bathroom and did a whole bunch of laundry loads over the wknd, went through some chores I should have attended to, just finished doing some stuff for work. All the things that need to get done just feel more doable somehow. And maybe the meditation isn't responsible, or it's a placebo effect, but like I said, the main reason for all of this is that it relaxes me and seems to help with my high blood pressure issues, and I just feel better when I'm calm
In the meditation, you put your hands on your chest, and feel the.. source.. of something.. the guy makes you visualize it radiating, and I was totally with him on this journey. It's some sort of a hindu meditation, IIRC, there are some chants you do too. The chanting seemed weird at first, but seemed to just work with the whole experience. All in all two thumbs up to this whole meditation thing
