SLEEP IS FOR THE WEEK

WTH no I'm not going to lose a week's worth of posting.

I agree with aimee. Now I'm off to watch HoI3 videos all night long.

Courier Prime is an excellent font :sheep:

I've been doing these guided meditations on an app on my phone.. before I go to sleep.. sometimes.. I started doing it when I found out I had super high blood pressure. Meditation was recommended not only by my doctor, but also my sister. And it seemed really easy to do, just 5-10 minutes every couple days, or whatever. Why not try it?

So anyway, this app lets you pick a topic.. Sleep, motivation, love, discipline, pure awareness, etc. whole bunch of assorted topics you can find meditations on.

I tried a "motivation" one the other day, it was 18 minutes long. I didn't think it worked.. but.. the thing is, these meditations almost always relax me and calm me down.. so I like doing them anyway, even if they don't allow me to open my inner eye, or understand what my right toe is going through, or whatever

But since I did that meditation a couple days ago, I got a whole bunch of stuff done!! Cleaned the bathroom and did a whole bunch of laundry loads over the wknd, went through some chores I should have attended to, just finished doing some stuff for work. All the things that need to get done just feel more doable somehow. And maybe the meditation isn't responsible, or it's a placebo effect, but like I said, the main reason for all of this is that it relaxes me and seems to help with my high blood pressure issues, and I just feel better when I'm calm

In the meditation, you put your hands on your chest, and feel the.. source.. of something.. the guy makes you visualize it radiating, and I was totally with him on this journey. It's some sort of a hindu meditation, IIRC, there are some chants you do too. The chanting seemed weird at first, but seemed to just work with the whole experience. All in all two thumbs up to this whole meditation thing

Other things that raise your blood pressure test results:
  • Full bladder
  • Not taking 5 minutes to sit quietly before the test
  • Crossing your legs
  • Rolling up your sleeve rather than removing your shirt
  • Not holding your arm level during the test.

How far has world come, app for meditating :D

Please do report more, Warpus! I myself have an old phone and I use paper mail. If this meditation app is any good I will recommend it to others for sure!

The app is called "Insight Timer". It's called that, because one of the functions of the app is.. you enter however many minutes of meditation you want, and it produces soothing sounds (IIRC) and then there's a gong when the time is up.

I never use this functionality though, I go straight to the user curated guided meditation content. I'm not sure who it's open to exactly, but you can upload guided meditations there, tag them, describe what it is, and the community will rate it. When you're searching through guided meditations, you can sort by the score it got, the length, the type, tags, etc.

I have no idea what else is out there for such apps, but this one is free, and it works for me. There is paid content in the app, but I ignore it.

One reason I like the app and have stuck to it is that it has a "Learn how to meditate in 7 days" lesson that you can take for free. That's the first thing I did when I downloaded the app. Each "day" is a 10-15 minute lesson, where you learn some of the basics. Each time I did this, I felt calm and relaxed, even though I felt like a complete greenhorn. So I kept doing it, and now a year later, I still am

From the OP's link, "The phrase comes from a typo in a blog post called "Can My Cat Eat Salami," which was published in 2017 by San Diego-based salami and sausage company The Meatmen." - which of course made me think of the punk band.

"Z PRVNÍHO SETKÁNÍ s F. Kafkou, v sobotu 18.1., pod taktovkou jednoho z největších odborníků na Kafku v Řecku Kyriakose Chalkopoulose v nádherné a příjemné atmosféře knihovny nakladatelství Fotagogos!
Nenechte si ujít druhé z celkově pěti setkání, které se bude konat příští sobotu 25.1. V osobě přednášejícího budete mít dojem, že k vám promlouvá samotný Kafka...!! "

Which is czech for, basically, that I am Kafka. From the czech institute's announcement.
If it brings some more people to listen to the lectures, it would be good :)

The sun coming through my window hits my paperweight at just the right angle to make a tiny rainbow on my desk.

It didn't come out very well on camera, but you can see it a bit.

Have you married her to acquire citizenship of her home country or whatever it was that you were thinking of doing?

Oh boy is this the ex-girlfriend?

Yes. We get along well :).

Have you married her to acquire citizenship of her home country or whatever it was that you were thinking of doing?

No, is at the moment also not possible, and right now also not urgently necessary :).
(means: Her relationship is in a break right now; not on the documents, but in reality; if it stays like that for a while, that's probably the best)

They’re letting me take 4th semester Spanish without 3rd semester. 6 of the 15 of us are there at the community college for the adjacent university’s political economy degree’s language requirement. Everyone in the class is serious enough. It will be a mild challenge requiring I stay on the ball.

3rd semester Spanish was full of babes and they won’t let me take both, but not rant worthy beyond this caveat.

I'll be a J and recommend that you volunteer for tutouring work for 4th-semester Spanish students after this term. ;)
