I quit my job! So long, suckers! 
I did it partially because of how much time my internship takes up, but mostly because I found out they were going to can everyone in my position at the end of the summer anyway. There was cake for my last day. Very tasty.

I've been listening to Øystein Sunde's Jeg sprengte TV'n i går
(I Blew Up The TV Yesterday), and I think it's awesome enough to translate the lyrics and post them here.
I blew up the TV yesterday
The travel program disappeared with an embarassed sigh into its
own reality, while flapping remnants of
purchase pressure and wheels of fortune disintegrated in a cloud of thankfulness.
And the camouflaged pushes of the politicians paddled
against the stream among the remains of angry debaters and
dissolved into fragments of nitpicking over party points at a
speed of 625 grimaces per second.
I blew up the TV yesterday.
And blue lightning greedily gobbled up the last advertisement
piece while the loudspeaker membranes went like
inverted strawhats into the sunset.
I blew up the TV yesterday.
And the whole of FilmNet's world of shooting, blood, gore,
slime, and semipornographic horror shows flew backwards
out on a cable network without a repercussion valve.

so picture fragments of sponsor-burdened
Mount Everest-tourists, national sports team idols and
South Pole explorers took a giant leap for mankind
through the ionosphere into into outer space.

I hacked up the PC yesterday.
And 12 MB of RAM scootched on miniskis out the parallell
port and took with them a double handful of unsolvable
but daily problems, while
the printer stood there like a cow and chewed TrueType-
fonts and gulped error messages in the LCD display
while 80-gram environment-friendly paper and color tones
fertilized their way out of the cooling rims.

The PCMCIA slot spat out the Old Maid, a flush of spades
and an entire deck of cards to boot and let the SCSI-drivers drive
like maniacs in the CD-room.

The config.sys rolled itself up in the mouse and disappeared
in bleak terror into its own autoexec.bat.
Ashes to ashes, DOS to dust,
and may you rise again as a MAC.

the serial port and took the VESA-bus to Modem Town,
while the queue of reeducated vacuum cleaner salesmen

The software packages that had bloated until they were
unusable and exploded with self-importance, lay there like
bad joke books, and the 20th century's greatest bluff
packed up all its promises about increased productivity
and snuck away blushing into the night.

I'm going to read a good book tonight.
It loses a bit in translation (e.g. I had to get creative on the religious reference, "room" is spelled "rom" for the "CD-room" joke in Norwegian), but it still amuses me greatly to think about how much crap we're putting up with from TVs and PCs.

actually, i'm not complaining about this one. the place was a community college last year, but it was just changed to a university, so it's still small and lovable and pretty (the buildings are made of bricks and there are big, mossy trees and I just love it) but it's a four year place now. it's amazing and i love it so much and i'm really excited because it was confirmed today that i can go. it's all just so perfect. the church i go to is ten feet from where i'm staying and the college is 1.75 miles away and ahhhh!
