- Don't listen when people tell you what to do, they get power over you like that.
- Didn't you just tell me what to do?
*bang bang*

There's always an excuse for everything, and, as I quoted in the Great Quotes thread, there's nothing that cannot be improved by pizza.

I cannot get my head around dimensions. I do not really care I guess.

There are two kinds of dimensions: spatial (bidirectional) and temporal (unidirectional). Let the number of spatial dimensions be N and the number of temporal dimensions be T. That N = 3 and T = 1, setting aside the compactified dimensions invoked by string theory and undetectable to date, can be explained by appealing to the physical consequences of letting N differ from 3 and T differ from 1. The argument is often of an anthropic character and possibly the first of its kind, albeit before the complete concept came into vogue.

^So, what is an example of a 1 spacial and 2 temporal dimensions setting? (ie what is a 2 temporal dimension setting)
I think they are defining temporal as a dimension that is unidimensional, and spacial as bidirectional. I have not actually figured out what this means though. Presumably it means something in the sums they do to demonstrate things like "if T > 1, Tegmark maintains that protons and electrons would be unstable and could decay into particles having greater mass than themselves".

Anyone know how many statues of Sherman there are? (google doesn't help, the same three seem to come up in the first page).
I suppose wouldn't be any in the south, with the destruction at Georgia and all, but given how controversial he was maybe naming a tank after him wasn't that good an idea either.

*scratches head* Do miniature reproductions of Sherman tanks count as Sherman statues?

There's a monument to Sherman at President's Park in Washington DC

"We are Here" should be one unit to the left

I think the city's entire fire department just went past my office building with lights & sirens & air horns going. :scared:

WTH's aimee done this time?

I was sitting here after dinner sort of half dozing off, I didn't get much sleep last night and ate a carb heavy dinner, there might have been some government cheese in there somewhere, and I was sort of sitting here with my eyes half-closed, digesting and what not, and I started daydreaming about whatever came to mind.

Somehow I ended up thinking about the hit TV show Euphoria and the convoy protests at the same time, and these two universes seamlessly merged into a real place in my mind. I was thinking of Jules, who was some sort of ex-cop private detective with political ties to the Canadian government, and this was all in the context of the convoy occupations, and in my mind at the time it all made perfect sense, the same way absurd situations make absolute sense when you're dreaming.

Then I sort of snapped back into reality and thought "Wait a second, none of that makes any sense, what am I even thinking about"

You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop, the Twilight Zone.
