Well now, cav kill musket in Anjar (2-0).
Cav kills arq and Anjar is ours and 845 gold.

May be nice to know that all Arabian boats disappear as Arabia died as well.
Was at least 12 Arabian boats pounding Pharsalos, so good to see them go.

2 e/cavs kill arq at Cairo (7-0).
e/hussar kills LB and Cairo is ours with 7 gold (8-0).

cav kills knight by Alex (9-0). [49-6]
Only 10 boats in our waters now.

Lets see how this goes. I set Padova to a city rally next to Byblos. I hope the way it works is that one continental rally is set and all go there, except for individual town rally points. They go to their own point?

I've been there, too, in some of the larger games I've played. One of CBob's games (German 100k) stands out for some reason
Oh, yeah, That game.

It was rough. I even got tired of playing that game, after spending all weekend long doing a full turnset. Scrolling through all those cities each turn trying to determine if we could whip it efficiently for a culture building...:faint:

Got my 10 done, so here is update. Should finish the extra 3 in a bit.

Dead nations
Korea, Russia, Turkey, Carthage, Siam, Arabia (ours)
French, Greeks, and Persians (AI)
twenty-one left in the game.

IBT:
LB attacks the incoming stack and dies at El-Am (1-0).

Krasnoyarsk and Rusicade start aqua's as they are capped at 10 wasting food.
[54-6]

IBT:
Germans finish East India
More killing between Vikes and Egypt.

(8) 1786AD:
344 shield overrun in Venice as we failed to get East India.
I meet Henry as a Portuguese boat shows up near Damascus and I sink it (1-0). No idea if it is on our land or we are finally getting overseas company.

Mongols land 3 unit in Egypt near Alex, so I use 2 cavs to kill a WE and Longsword (2-0). Can't attack the last one and get back.

Took 2 cavs to kill Vike Arq next to Sakkara (3-1).
e/Lawyer kills the Zerk and gets an Artist (4-1).
Enslaver finds Thebes.

Eventually we need to get works to irrigate a few of the Egyptian towns as they cannot grow.

Wow Vikes send an arq/settler into Byblos borders and e/cav kills it and we get a slave (5-1).

IBT:
America finished Statue of Liberty.
The Mongol unit (UU) attacked Alex and nearly killed the musket (1-0). [59-7]
The enslave was attacked, but retreated.

(9) 1787AD:
Start on Med no choice. It kills granary.

Spot a new border at the top of the screen on the left. It is yellowish, which means nothing to me and will probably different for others.

SoL sinks vike Galleass (1-0).
2 cavs attack a Mongol e/cav and we go 1-1 (2-1).
e/lawyer out of Cario kills LB (3-1). [62-8]

IBT:
Some boat sunk our exploring ship by the newly found yellow borders. I do not see any new yellow in CAII (0-1).
[62-9]

(10) 1788AD:
I do see a new nation in CA a dark blue and it is Babylon with 13 towns. I found their boat off Hadrumetum, DOW.

75 retreats at Ulaanbaatar from rifle.
Cannon dies on rifle (0-1).
e/cav retreats from rifle.
e/cav kills rifle (1-1).
e/cav kills one (2-1).
e/cav kills rifle (3-1).
e/cav kills cav (4-1).
cav kills cav and we capture Ulaanbaatar and 1775 gold. 2 slaves. Cav goes elite.

My string of no leaders continues it seems.
SoL sinks Autrian War galleon (5-1).
[67-10]

Oh, yeah, That game.

It was rough. I even got tired of playing that game, after spending all weekend long doing a full turnset. Scrolling through all those cities each turn trying to determine if we could whip it efficiently for a culture building...:faint:

The last two turnsets I played in that game got a little long. It definitely suffered from the "There's no way we can lose this, but it takes a lot of time to get to the official win."

IBT:
Germans finish East India

More killing between Vikes and Egypt.

Ha! They're fighting over who gets the honor of losing to us!

I'm half-tempted to leave them alone until one wipes the other out, then swoop in for the kill :mischief:

I meet Henry as a Portuguese boat shows up near Damascus and I sink it (1-0). No idea if it is on our land or we are finally getting overseas company.

Ahh, fresh meat.

I'd guess he's overseas, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's on our continent, further past Egypt. This is a HUGE continent.

Some boat sunk our exploring ship by the newly found yellow borders. I do not see any new yellow in CAII (0-1).

Pirate ship, probably. I saw one of those in my turnset.

I do see a new nation in CA a dark blue and it is Babylon with 13 towns. I found their boat off Hadrumetum, DOW.

Truly, your turnset is "interesting times" :p

Great progress but it's a little scary that there are still others on our land. seems endless.
A pity on the EIC.

As long as you post before the end of the day today (YS time) it's fine. I can play tonight and look forward to that.

Fine stuff.

Yes, too bad about the EIC, but since we lack a really strong coastal city it was always a gamble. The EIC only affects the city it's in, so it falls into the nice-but-hardly-vital category.

Great progress but it's a little scary that there are still others on our land.

The more the merrier, I'd say. We know that we can crush any opponent on our landmass, at the size we've now reached. It's landings without armies that may still pose some technical problems.

Dead nations
Korea, Russia, Turkey, Carthage, Siam, Arabia (ours)
French, Greeks, and Persians (AI)
twenty-one left in the game.

IBT:
It took so long to get to record the ibt that I forgot what happended. I think nothing more than the std bombardment and vike/egypt.

(11) 1789AD:
I see we have found Japan and DOW. Third new friend this set.
SoL sinks the Babylon galleon (1-0). Will keep the ship nearby for now.
Make that a 4th as our Frigate does not even make a dent on American galleon (1-1).

e/cav kills rifle in Thebes (2-1).
e/cav retreats.
e/cav dies (2-2).
e/cav retreats.
e/cav retreats.
cav dies (2-3).
cav retreats.
2 cav kills damage rifles (4-3).
cav kills arq (5-3).
e/hussar kills Arq (6-3).
e/hussar kills LB (7-3).
Thebes captured with Kaaba.

cav kills arq by Alex (8-3).
cav kills arq by Cario (9-3).
I see arq with settler, can't reach. He has no place to settle without coming our way I would bet. Use Artist to bomb Thebes as not that many units could get in town to defend.
[76-13]

IBT:
misclicked cav was retreated by Ulaan.

(12) 1790AD:
Ensalve spots USA settler/cannon by oasis across from Anjar. I was 1 move to late to attack it. They will surely found on IBT.
9 cavs attack Daidu losing 2 and retreat 2 (5-2). Killed 4 rifles and a cav.
Daudu captured with Hunnic Storm. 1826 gold tossed in.

Two retreated cavs should be safe with the mountains blocking form the south.
Cav kills rifle in field (6-2).
cav retreats from rifle.
another cav finishes it (7-2).

e/cav kills cannon by Ulaan (8-2).
I see a green border close to Daidu on the coast. That is going to be another new friend.

Just when I thought I could get through with no leader a lawyer popped one killing egyptian bombarde (9-2).
Rush Stupa in Byblos as it is about the only place near.
I go ahead and hit the arq/settler, but have to leave the cav in the open at 1hp. I did not want to risk a town would be founded on the spot (10-2). A cav is cheap enough.
(no oned attacked the cav)

IBT:
America start Wall St.
Enslaver is run over by bombarde (0-1) [86-16].

(13) 1791AD:
We probably want to start some clippers soon in case we want to invade as we will need at least 75.

Start Enlightenment in 4.

*lawyer kills Zerk by Sakkara and gets an Artist (1-0).
hussar kills US cannon (2-0).
cav kills bombarde (3-0).

There is a chariot covering a leader, but I cannot reach it. They have town there now.
e/cav kills rifle in Choibalsan (4-0).
e/cav kill rifle cleanly (5-0).
cav kills FL and Choibalsan autorazed for 1302 gold.

Add a 5th new friend in Persia. DOW, they have 16 towns.
Thebes is rioting.
Did not really MM as we have been at 4 turners.
[91-16]

The more the merrier, I'd say. We know that we can crush any opponent on our landmass, at the size we've now reached. It's landings without armies that may still pose some technical problems.

To that end I was trying to get a couple of teams to get the towns connected in the north and to road the coast. I was roading the coast in the greek lands towards Alexandria as we have a gap in the road.

Egypt is on its knees now. We have taken most of the towns and the vikes have exchanged kills with them every turn.

We prpbably do not have to worry about contacts on the new continent as many seem to have found us anyway. I would still move on Mongol lands in single file to not bump into any others on this land.

No need to have to deal with extra units, unless it is on our terms.

Well was that fast enough to make up for the late start and doing 13 turns?

ThERat I cut the forest by Florence on an unsed tile so we could mine it and move a citizen to it and let it grow. Mainly as workers were in the area and not much else made sense.

I'd guess he's overseas, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's on our continent, further past Egypt. This is a HUGE continent.

There is no one on the Egyptian/Vike area. I suggested that would be the case long ago as there had to be water on the edges. They could be on the west of Mongols though.

Hammi I am pretty sure is on the other land as it came form the NW of the old Carthage lands.

Japan and America I saw their border on the other land.

We have either a 3rd landmass west of us or a lot more land on our continent. Given that we have see little of the original Mongol land or of the Dutch, more land is my bet.

Well that was what I postulate earlier and I am sticking to it.

Got it,

looks like an L shape land turning into a U. I do hope that all those new foes do not overwhelm us with their units. On the other hand, we should be strong enough to take them on.

Ok, as we are now 3 techs away from the new IA, we might want to think about the tech path we take there.
Do we all agree that we start with sci methods to get Arm's Race if that is still possible? I would then go for steel for the ability to build workers (do not cost any pop!). Then for RR tech (forgot the name), after that head straight for lancias and early tanks? To railroad a tile needs 6 native workers. Hence, we will need quite a few to get some rails laid down the long track on our continent.

As for starting to build a navy, I think it is still early as we are facing more enemies on our continent. We have enough cash to be able to rush some of the navy.
Landing on another land will be tricky anyway, very tricky I guess.

Yeah we are a long way off, but we can start a clipper or two in case we find an island and they will take 30 or more turns in some of those places not doing much.

Sounds like a plan on the techs to me. I would say we should put up a path in a post and once we have the next 6-10 decided we can cut and paste it into the start of any new sets log. That way people will not have to stop to ask what is next or try to find out what was choosen.

ok, I will include the tech path at the end of my turnset

Pre turn
MM quite a bit, even though we are comfortable at 4 turn research, we can still think ahead as we need
to make sure science is high. Fire all taxmen and get scientists
We do have money, so we can rush a bit
St Petersburg, Rostov, Theveste, Ubon -> windmill
Sakkara -> town center
Utica, employ policeman and cav goes from 3 to 2
Pyongyang, with the help of policemen, we can make 40spt
Smolensk, with policemen, SOTL goes from 6 to 4

defeat 3 units near Byblos to setup for an attack on Falun

[3-0]

IT our stack at Persia gets attacked by a knight, which we defeat
Yogi bear gets killed at Falun though

[4-1]

Turn 1 1792AD
we meet Germany, due to their luxes, they are not sharing our land for sure
they got enlightenment, which enables us to reduce science to 30%

spot Memphis, which we can't attack
capture Giza defeating 3 arques inside and one bombarde outside. lose a cavalry, setup attack on Memphis
defeat 4 units around Falun and then barely take the city from 3 arques
no road connection and there are 2 zerks next to it
reinforce the city and run into an invisible unit

defeat another knight at that Persian city and move next to it
take out the chariot next to new Orleans, leave the city alone for now as it is at pop 1

remove a Mongol rifle and lose a schneider :(
use the lawyers to spy on Mongol land. move a stack next to Darkhan

[19-3]

IT stack gets attacked but repels Mogol cav, Vikings lose a zerk against our enslaver, but then defeat 2 units in falun as feared
we get quite a few cavalry this turn, start some markets and coastal fortresses

Turn 2 1793AD
culture bomb Falun, remove both zerks
our lawyer spots a missionary, take it out
attack Memphis, take out the LB on a fortress first, manage to take out a arque and pike, lose 2 cavs
city is too heavily fortified, I ship in more units

take out 2 pikes and capture Persian Ghulaman, spot light blue borders

lose 3 cavalry but manage to take Darkhan

rat41780a.jpg

The captured worker runs back and exposed a Mayan settler pair
another enemy. take out the settler pair and another hussar next to it, however there is a third which we can't reach

manage to take out a Viking galleas
[33-10]

IT we manage to defeat that Mayan hussar, Egypt and Vikings still exchange some units

Turn 3 - 1794AD
attack Memphis again, go 4:1 this time

rat41780c.jpg

with this wonder, all new cities will now make 5cpt, which is great for a 2 turn expansion :D

move our units along mountains to setup next attack on Mongols
[38-11]

IT we lose a SOTL, enlightenment is in, democracy next
Germans start Eiffel tower

Turn 4 - 1795AD
a Dutch cog is in view, backwards with 4 cities left, declare

attack Karakorum. lose 3 cavs defeating 4 rifles.

rat41780d.jpg

we gain 2500gold
take out a cav next to it, then lose a schneider and 1 cav against a rifle, take it out after that
remove an American rifle next to New Orleans

go 3:1 and capture Heliopolis, Egypt is down to 1 city

[48-18]

IT Mongols are fighting with someone
Portuguese attack our cavs with their knights and we go 1:1

Turn 5 - 1796AD
attack Dashur, take out 3 arques, 2 LBs losing 1 cav, finally get a leader that rushes constitution in Thebes

rat41780e.jpg

take Uppsala after defeating 3 arques, run into a missionary parked on the mountain there and take it with a lawyer
capture Kazan for 2825 gold after taking out 4 rifles (one is a draft) losing 2 cavs

spot Austrian stacks, this could get hairy

fill the new cities with cavalries

[62-22]

IT Austria is at war with Mongols !!! however, they do attack our stack, maybe our cities are deemed easier to attack
we lose 1 cav, a MGL tries to attack our lawyer on a mountain and fails
Vikings attack us and we go 1:1
very bad news as Germans start Arm's race, I think we can forget about that

Turn 6 - 1797AD
take out a Portuguese knight, lawyer defeat a knight from mountain and retreats, leave the rest alone
take out 2 viking zerks and a pike and 1 arque
a rifle at new Orleans goes down

[68-22]

IT Ok, the stacks are coming, Persia, Portugal and Austria are going for our front towns
Persia loses 3 knights attacking Kazan

Turn 7 - 1798AD
sink a German ship. one of our explorers spots new land, avoid contact though
take care of 2 Viking units, then attack Linkoping
there are 5 units inside, lose a cav and take the city

The Mongol front:
rat41780f.jpg

take out 20 fast units from all 3 nations

[92-22]

IT Dutch also send some units up
we get democracy

Turn 8 - 1799AD
we can now build battlefield medicine and I am using this as a prebuild for Arm's Race
should have thought about it earlier. It's 500 shields whereas Arms Race is 600s, hence we can get that in 12 turns

In the worst case, we only waste 1 turn of 50 shields

we meet Aztecs, backwards and on another land for sure, declare

prepare next assaults on Vikings, lose a cav taking out an arque
take out another American rifle, the city does not grow though

clean the front yet again, this time we go 15:2
there are AW with a range of 3 but I don't want to expose our units

[109-25]

IT Vikings attack us, we defeat both zerks and gain a MGL for the capitol, nice

Turn 9 - 1800AD
lose a cav defeat 2 arques and take Norrkoping
rush MGL back to Thebes to get us the capitol
go 3:1 to take Gavle
work on 2 viking convoys as I fear they might contain settlers

at the Mongol front, go 6:2 with some real bad RnG

[122-29]

IT In some sea battles we go 1:1 with vikings and gain a pirate
Austria is scorching Mongol land, not good as we need to build roads all over again and we have no workers there
Americans join to build Arm's Race

Turn 10 - 1801AD
sink Dutch cog
New Orleans doesn't grow but only produces rifles, decide to raze it
defeat 3 rifles and gain 85 gold

defeat Viking convoy of 3, the other is heading back to Malmo

clear the Mongol area, get a MGL, rush temple in Karakorum
get another one, rush hospital in Kazan
take out 19 units, lose 3 but I have to clear those arques of the roads, we won't let them pillage the land

[148-33]

The south:

Watch out for the Austrian pillagers and take them out. We got heaps of units down south and more are coming. Once you feel safe, do attack the next Mongol city, I suggest to go for the one southeast first. you can use the forest tile as an intermediate step as i am sure we can't reach in one turn.

Do not attack the Mongol units as they fight Austria which is good for us.

rat41780g.jpg

The east:
Vikings just like Mongols are down to 5 cities and we should be able to take them out soon. There are stacks of cavalry healing and waiting to be used again. vikings have no fast units so it's pretty easy to take them on.

rat41780h.jpg

We should be able to stabilize our front and make real progress in the south.

There are at least the Mongols, Austria, Dutch, Portugal and Persia. However, besides Mongols, the rest is not very advanced and we should be able to take them on easily.

As for research I reiterate. I have started Battlefield Medicine in our capital, a 500shield build that will finish in 8 turns. We need another 2 turns to enter the IA, then 4 turns presumably to get scientific methods

With this we could go for Arms Race which is 600shields, which means we need another 10 turns to complete. By the most we would waste only 2 turns if we don't get it as we can always build the small wonder.

As for techs, my opinion is to go. We do get a free tech once we enter IA, don't forget that.

steam (2 turns left), sci methods, steel (for the workers), compound steam engine and then straight for combustion.

If we manage to get 2 techs for free, I would chose the most expensive tech available.

Another issue, are we going to build steam engines? I would do that in a few shield powerhouses, but wait for the non obsolete other shield boost such as rail yard, light industry and electric power.

ThERat-
CommandoBob - up
Northern Pike
M60A3TTS
Elephantium
vmxa

One more issue, we have 41k in the bank and I purposely didn't rush meaningless stuff, only things that are useful such as town centers etc. We should continue to be prudent so we can easily upgrade our army and navy later on. It will cost us quite some money to upgrade those hussars and cavalry to lancias.
