RB8 - Multiplayer Madness

The Japanese can found the city and simply trade the stone to the Germans to build wonders. I agree with Drasca that any cities beyond the second at least need to see copper.

Can't wait to see the next team's turns!

And remember, to all you lurkers, we could use some more players for this game still!

This is a very cool idea, and I'd definitely be interested in playing. Whether as an alternate or on the 4th team. No matter what I'll be keeping an eye on this thread, as I've been wondering when the first mp sg would be.

Well, after 2 hours of failed connections, we then realised we needed a password, thanks a lot Snap ;)

I’m Tokugawa, Thunderbunny is Bismarck. Let’s roll!

Turn 1: Mining discovered, we start on Bronze Working. We discuss where I want city 2, we decide to place it right on the Marble, as Thunderbunny assures me I still get the resource

RB856.JPG

Turn 2: yawn :coffee:

Turn 3: My worker builds a road to hook up these cows in the forest.

RB857.JPG

We find Mao’s city area

RB858.JPG

Their worker has been keeping busy.

Turn 4: hehe, Japan is evil.

RB859.JPG

And my borders are expanding next turn

Turn 5: Kyoto’s borders expand, making the enemy scout disappear! :sniper:

RB860.JPG

Thunderbunny encounters some lions

RB861.JPG

We discuss what to do with TB’s (Thunder Bunny) worker.

Turn 6: I finally finish the pasture to the cows (Plus road) and my worker moves toward the hills.

Turn 7: Looks like we’ve reached some sort of pinnacle…

RB862.JPG

TB’s scout picks up that hut for…36 gold…wow.

Civ4ScreenShot0036.JPG

My worker begins a mine, and we’re off to see Turn 8!

Turn 8: Slow turn.

Turn 9: Bad news bears (TM)

RB863.JPG

TB decides to go to the forest in front of the bear, and we find a hut! It’s better to be bold and lucky and good :hammer:

RB864.JPG

Turn 10: Settler finished in Kyoto! Excellent. I decide to keep working on the barracks there. And I move the settler to city site 2.

TB pops a hut for 40 gold. These are some sleazy huts.

Turn 11: Bronze Working discovered, quickly revolt to Slavery. We go for Pottery. There are lions near my scout, but I actually have favourable odds to win, thanks to the good old patch.

Turn 12:

Take that stinky lion! :spank:

RB865.JPG

And that smelly lion! :spank:

Civ4ScreenShot0038.JPG

Both of our scouts are out of action for a while, 6 turn and 9 turn heal respectively.

Turn 13: TB’s settler is finished, he prepares to settle his next city. TB starts on the Stonehenge.

Turn 14: I settle city two, Osaka! It immediately starts on an Obelisk (I already have a warrior defending)

RB866.JPG

Turn 15: Barracks finished in Kyoto, starts on a warrior. TB settles Hamburg and also starts on an Obelisk!

RB867.JPG

Turn 16: Mao and Catherine just discover Bronze Working, and Mao settles a second city.

RB868.JPG

TB realises he’s building Stonehenge, considering it isn’t too many turns and so stops the Obelisk in Hamburg and starts on a Warrior.

Turn 17: Pottery discovered; we start on Priesthood.

Turn 18: Warrior trained in Kyoto, starts on Granary.

Turn 19: My scout finally gets healed and begins scouting around Mao.

Turn 20: Okay, and that’s our final turn! The plan over here

RB869.JPG

Is to connect the road, and start a trade network. I can then get Marble over to Bismarck and we should be able to get a quick Oracle.

Ack! I am sorry about that. Honestly, I totally forgot I put a password on it. And I honestly had no idea the password would follow the game - I thought it was just to keep people from jumping in during setup. That was my bad. Hey, this is the first time I've tried this, but that really sucks. I'm sorry I put you through that. :wallbash:

For future players: Password is RB8

Chriseay, welcome aboard. I'm going to go ahead and add in the fourth team now. This will give Morred and thunderbunny time to recover from the exercise in futility. So, the new roster looks like:

Roster
Team 1 - Snaproll* / Drasca
Team 2 - Morred* / thunderbunny (JUST PLAYED)
Team 3 - Uniqueuponhim* / Atlas (UP!)
Team 4 - Thormodr* / Chriseay (ON DECK)

Alternate 1 - open
Alternate 2 - open
Alternate 3 - open

Goodluck Uniqueuponhim and Atlas! Morred, I didn't see a save game attached. Don't forget that!

I think Atlas and Unique should do 15 turns, while the game is still relatively fast and uneventful.

Oh, and about the bold lucky and good? Fortune favors the bold. The only measure of foolishness is success!

Well, Thunderbunny said Fortune Favors the bold right before doing that, so I added that into the lucky and good sentence. Sirians has his quote, Soren has his. I have mine. I'd rather be lucky and good and bold!

Few notes:

1) we found stone east of germany, however its pretty near mao's 2nd city. Not sure if we can get it before him though.

2) We probably need masonry to get the marble to trade even though we settled on the resource, right? It'll take longer to complete the trade route than to get masonry, so not a big deal, or we can take a different route.

3) 2 copper popped up right between germany and japan; we shouldn't have problems getting copper but Morred and I couldn't figure out where a good site for the copper was (one city can acutally get both).

4) Right before we ended, Morred's sharp eyes pointed out a blue border just south of Osaka in the fog. Think it was a dark blue colour, but not sure.

5) German scout should be healed next turn. Bears are still in the area north though (unless mao killed them), so watch out.

Hope i didn't botch things up too much...

Hoo hoo! Looking forward to playing. One potential problem though. I currently live in South Korea and I notice my partner lives in Pennsylvania. It is currently 12:03 AM Saturday Morning here in Seoul but only 10:03 AM Friday Morning in Pennsylvania. That is a 14 hour time difference. I would need to get coordinated with you Chriseay to figure out the best time we could play together. Basically ,what time is best for you and I can try and work around it. Let me know.
Oh and good job Teams 1 and 2 ;)

@team and Uniqueuponhim

I am out of town until Jan.1 afternoon, and can not play before Jan.1 afternoon, so in the interest of keeping the game moving I think that Unique should hook up with an alternate, that is unless he can play on Jan. 1, otherwise skip me
Good luck!!!!

For the next round we might want to swap the teams a bit in that case. Morred and I are very geographically separate too (he's in Australia, I'm in NYC), and it might work better w/ similar time zones (then again, it might not, depends on schedules).

Future multiplayer game setup might want to think about taking time zones into account.

Good Point. It would much easier to coordinate with someone from Australia for me. I hope we can get this all sorted out so we can kick some Allied butt. ^^
Go team tilted axis! :crazyeye:

Yeah, whether Thunder Bunny and I can play or not generally depends on how tired he is, which is never good, luckily during the holidays there's only an 8 hour period when I'm not available :P

Well, I shouldn't have any problem playing this game on New Year's Day, so I can do that. Meanwhile, I remember there being pictures in the last report, but I can't see them anymore. What happened to them?

Ok! Glad to be in the game, but I don't think I'll be able to play till Monday afternoon or evening (PA time) which by my calculations is sometime in the early morning in South Korea. I could try to play this weekend if our time comes up, but my internet is flaky at best until I'm back home (i'm at the parents for the rest of the holidays). Thormodr, the best way to contact me is either my AIM name (chriseay) or email at chriseay at gmail dot com. Maybe we can shake up the teams a bit for the next go round to facilitate easier matchups.

Took at peek at the save without actually moving anything. Neat that the savegame records all the chat and replays it.

Osaka's still building an obelisk, done in 4 turns, Berlin's stonehenge in 5. Next japanese player needs to change Osaka's production to something else, as stonehenge provides free obelisk the next turn.

You'll be able to trade resources with your coastal cities once sailing is researched. You'll have three strong wonder-building research options:

1) Masonry, to speed up oracle (+100% base), and leads to Monotheism and organized religion (+25% base).
2) Sailing to trade resources
3) Iron Working to reveal potential additional production.

Stone near Mao eh? You know, military is cheaper than settlers--especially if he establishes a presence there.

Don't worry about the stone too much right now. That is quite some distance, and we have other +build production bonuses right now. Consolidate yourself. Workers, Mines, Cottages, military, wonder production. You'll be in a far better position to produce wonders now and take that stone area later.

Also, we'll want to switch up partners soon to take advantage of similar timezones. Morred pairs up with Thormodr is definite.

This is what I see so far:

Eastern:
Me (PA), Thunderbunny (NY), Chriseay (PA), Atlas (NC)

Mountain:
Snaproll

Unique, what time zone are you in?

it appears that Uniqueuponhim can play the game with me on the afternoon of New Years Day:D :D :D I am very pleased, um Unique will you save the saved game? I am on MSN what is yours or how can I get a hold of you on MSN? I think you mentioned that you use that. Anyway, I will get home that afternoon and will crank up the old comp. right away. You guys/gals have good and safe New Year's, don't   [party] [party] :smoke: tooo much!!!
