Realpolitik CIV - An Interactive AAR

The original description dealt with basically nothing but the military. However, you two seem wise enough not to fall fall for the over-militarizing trap.

The Imperial Party will always recognize that England's interests are best served by sword and shield, but perhaps unlike the previous incarnation, we also realize that the sword and shield rest upon the foundation of economy. Therefore, we need to get our own house in order before we start "redecorating" abroad (white is such a lovely color, after all). However, yes, I good starting point would be at least one unit for each city. :lol:

bah or something similer. i'm sure thats horrible paraphrased and a true war nut would hit me for butchering the line but the spirit is the same. Militaries function best when they have a cause and the people are behind them. Militaries for the sake of militaries cause problems like the Roman armies who needed constant wars or they got... bored.

(who was it that said slavery ruined the roman empire? In fact it was a economic crisis brought about by the legionaires demanding more pay. The idiots in charge thought a good idea would be to cut in half the coins and melt them into double the amount. Not understanding the inflation this would cause.)

anyway Now that we have a threat of Russia, a rival of Rome in europe and a potential turncoat in the Irish a military has lots of causes to try and gain a positive outlook from 'the people'. Once we agree a military is needed a military party is only going to raise in power and prestige, especially when it starts winning campaigns.
 
When I was young(er), I always used to ask my parents why the government didn't just print more money. Apparently, the Roman empire had around the same amount of economic sense as I did when I was 5 years old. (JK) :p :lol:

OT: For now, I guess we just wait for doom to befall us from LH.
 
Lh i was almost done my plan too...i already had a crisis this term! Cant you give a a few turns of peace here?

Anyway, welcome to sonereal! Whosit you better not dispear on us. It seems that in the imperial party, when a new member joins, the older member leaves. Sort of like the sith in star wars. :lol:.

Oh and to the comment of slavery ruining empires, america isnt gone. We are still here, and we once had slavery. So did brazil, and just about every south american country has slavery (some still have slavery in crime ridden parts i think). China used to practise it centuries ago if i remember correctly...and just about every colonial power. Not all of those fell. Sorry for OT.

Sonereal, you want to be propaganda minister here? Ill grant you almost total autonomy in my adminstration, and recomend to the next president for you to be the leader of propaganda as well. If we become the opposition, im sure you will have TONS of fun creating propaganda like crazy too...

I'm not planning on it, but the pattern is most disconcerting. I'll watch my back. If Sonereal starts saying anything about me taking a "long vacation," send a search party. :lol:

Hey would anyone here be interested in joining a new realpolitik if i set it up? I was thinking of doing a russian one, but with a heavily modified earth that i modify myself. I just want around 6 or more parties, with a somewhat following or better for each. Then i would give some new powers, and slightly change LH's rules.

Couple things. First, DON'T START ON SLAVERY AGAIN!!!! :p

LH is already the Propaganda minister. :lol:

And I would probably join, depends on the rules, though.
 
Im sure if anyone majorly disgarees on a rule i could make some changes to the changes. Plus, im hoping that a realpolitik with less pages like mine would in the begining will be more attractive to newcomers. Some might even flock from there to here after they get a taste of realpolitik.

LH is the reporter minister! He does not spout propaganda! How dare you insult his statements as propaganda! :lol: :p
 
propaganda isn't evil,it's just a way of sharing your views and suppressing other views to make your point more likely to sink home.in short propaganda is information,but care must be taken not to proselytize with this approach

I'm afraid I have to turn down the offer for now. I don't want to hold any position in government until I have had some more taste of the politics around here. Thanks for the offer. :)

Actually, the best propanganda piece I wrote for the coalition (before it broke up) on the other forum was one implicating several top-members of the other coalition of not only supporting the bombing of Hat factories (seriously) but took part in the infamous Haticide which killed 14 billion innocent hats.

Of course, things were very cutthroat back then. Ah memories. :lol:

I am sorry to hear that yo decline. Maybe in the future.

I guess i will start modifing the map tonight then. Although, im still debating whether to put the russian settler in the middle of a tundra or not...yes ill have quite a few twists on this map. Ill get started right now. Hopefully i can start the thread tomorow. LH would you be interested? We could use a confederate party of russia you know :lol:.

I will wait to send my plan to LH until after we recievve the crisis info tomorow and consult with my administration on the best course of action.
