Questions to ask Nominee’s

If you could only support one war plan what would you support?
This is based on the three basic war plans of a mass army, seige warfare, or pilliging runs

When is the earlist you would accept peace from Rome?
Are you a leader that feels we must bloody the nose of Rome and make him pay war reperations or are you willing to hand over a technology or two to get peace asap?

Who would you want to nurse most as an ally in foriegn affairs?
Now that Ragnar and Peter are also involed there is a measure of choice in this matter, perhaps the irish or egyptians even?

If Rome marched a nearly unbeatable army into french lands what would you do?
Abandon france or attempt to hold it?

What would be Englands next world wonder if you had the choice?
wether we get peace or are in war this is your own personal opinion on what you would like our nation to have.

What do you think is the nations best decision so far?

What do you think is the nations worst decision so far?

Do you support a leader having advisors or ministers?
Recently it has become apparant that some leaders differ on how they handle subordinates. Would you have them as advisors with no real power except that of verbally influencing you, the leader. Or would you allow them a measure of control over aspects of our nation as ministers of parts of it.

example;
interior minister; controls building plans of cities
exterior minister; controls foriegn trade screen, tech trades, open border plans etc
war minister; controls military unit movement
peace minister; controls workers, settlers and explorer unit movements
Sciene and Finance minister; controls tech planning and finance sliders

Would you allow this or perfer to keep direct control?

Even though im not running for president, i will answer these anyway. but first a quick commet to all those out there who will make conclusions on this 'update': LH could be exxagerating for all we know about huge armies and such. I dont know how he got an offense together so soon, and the soon part is probably the reason we lost. Hopefully, he got some cats like i asked, if not, well thatas just how it is. None of us have any idea what happened, so lets just concentrate on the moment right?

Also, i will be sending ravus the war plan in the near future to use in one of his history book updates. I think it is a fit way to release it. As whosit approved it, and i couldnt find any errors in it myself, i think it was a decent plan at worst. But i will let the historians decide that.

1. Dont know exactly what you mean by siege army, but i would like a focus on the versatile swordsmen, but a couple of each unit like peolpe have been saying is a good thing. I still want to plan a counterattack, and swordsmen are amazing at minor ones that dont actually count as offensives but are rather meant to disrupt the enemy's plans.

2. A peace ASAP would leave us as cowards and would probably hurt us in the long run worse. We need to hold on in the defense of our lands and wait for our new allies to create an offensive which is when we will get a somewhat respite to ready for another offensive. So i would like to bloody their nose.

3. I agree with MN (shocking i know) but if pressed i would choose the vikings and egypt.

4. Hold it. Guerilla war. Slow them down. War of attition. weaken them before their attack. Make sure we play out the battle in the fields before their assault on the city. Wear them down./ We cant take them fair 1 on 1 so lets make it 1 on 1/2 of their force eh?

5. the great library and the aposilistic palace.

6. Thats hard. I would say being a democaracy, but i dont think that counts. I would say rescuing the hostages from the russians.

7. Building a worker in a POP 1 city.

8. I believe the president should reatin full power, the final say, but listen to his ministers/advisors. They should not be able to override the president though. He retains full power. thsi is not RL. Dont trust him, dont elect him. Like LH has said before, realpolitik isnt meant to be like that plan you gave MN.

I doubt that Lighthearter would exaggerate just to make us worry. The AI generally does not declare unless they are ready. And, honestly, any army would be huge compared to us. I don't know how he could have scrapped on offensive force together so quickly, either--whatever he did probably sapped us of needed defense, unfortunately. (I re-read the report; I didn't notice I was in it the first time! Huh.) It is unlikely that we have Catapults or are even close to Construction. It sounds like the Science slider is at 20%.

One of the screen shots we need is the Financial Screen so we can see where our money is going! It's probably city maintenance costs. Could be unit costs, too, but it sounds like most of our army is gone. Our continental cities probably don't even have the population left to whip out emergency defenses.

To respond to arya's response to my call for the save: I'll admit that I don't know much about how Realpolitik is "supposed" to be played, but it's my opinion that it's going to be very, very hard for any of us to make informed decisions without a substantially larger amount of information about what's going on in the game. It's definitely the Civ player in me talking, but the president of the nation surely should be able to get his hands on any bit of information he needs.

Anyway, Aegis should have decided on its presidential candidate sometime tomorrow.

Will, I do like answering what looks like a survey (but isn't).

If you could only support one war plan what would you support?
This is based on the three basic war plans of a mass army, seige warfare, or pilliging runs

Pillaging runs. A massive army costs too much and we lack siege weaponry, not to mention we're on the receiving end of catapults.

When is the earlist you would accept peace from Rome?
Are you a leader that feels we must bloody the nose of Rome and make him pay war reperations or are you willing to hand over a technology or two to get peace asap?

We will not bloody Rome's nose in this war. Therefore, we should hand over a technology or two as soon as possible. Any talk of "bloodying" Rome's nose is premature and will be for the entire war since we're scrambling on the defense and lack the funds to hold our own against Rome. The fact that the only good news we have received is two declarations of war on Rome just means we're a military embarrassment. The very last thing we should do is fight a war of attrition in the flat grasslands of France.

If we must fight, then we should pull back to the hills and mountains of the Pyrenees which offer a natural defense against Rome and is easier to defend.

Who would you want to nurse most as an ally in foriegn affairs?
Now that Ragnar and Peter are also involed there is a measure of choice in this matter, perhaps the irish or egyptians even?

The Egyptians. I doubt they have any love for Rome and if at a later date we go to Carthage, we may be able to get the Egyptians to invade Carthage from the east.
If Rome marched a nearly unbeatable army into french lands what would you do?

Abandon france or attempt to hold it?

Abandon France, regroup in the Pyrenees. Unlike Imperial Japan during World War 2, we aren't prepared for a single decisive battle that will decide the fate of the entire war. We will have to bleed Rome dry and we can't bleed them dry in the grasslands.

What would be Englands next world wonder if you had the choice?
wether we get peace or are in war this is your own personal opinion on what you would like our nation to have.

AP. MP if I had the choice.

What do you think is the nations best decision so far?

Is finding Christianity a decision?

What do you think is the nations worst decision so far?

Neglected the Iberian economic infrastructure.

Do you support a leader having advisors or ministers?

The president should get the final say. Personally, I would assume they know what they're talking about and give a lot of weight to what they say.

I don't know hoe LH's Deus Ex Machina will work, but there's nothing believable he can do(I think)

By the sound of it, they have Praets and we have no army. Hell, a massive archer rush could've tipped us over in France if the AI was smart enough to pull it off.

1. Defensive army with pillaging runs.

2. I want peace ASAP, but I am not willing to give up much for it. I feel that we will get peace before we really need to worry too much.

3. Alliances are better made as they go. Often, the diplo situation can change drastically, especially with LH as the head of this AAR. :p

4. Attempt to hold it, but if we have no hope, then abandon it.

5. Apostolic Palace, Church of Nativity, Spiral Minaret.

6. Bulbing Theo.

7. Adopting slavery.

8. Obviously, I want the ministers to have formal power by a method similar to what I proposed.

A better version of MNs answer. Changed/Added bits in bold.

2. I will do my best to explain this to you. Catapults, and siege weapons in general, are absolutely critical in defensive as well as offensive warfare. Please note that I have played at higher difficulty levels, that I have read numerous strategy guides by the greats of the game, and that I have played a bit of multiplayer, including a game with the venerable Sullla (I lost, but what could I expect, right?). Granted, MP is different than SP, but siege is of utmost importance.

I've played games with Speaker, sunrise, and the legendary, voting for whatever side I'm on Whosit before.

Also: I am annoucing my leave of the monks. May the gods bless me as I go forward on a new path.

Ninja-Pirate Party(NPP)

We like to have fun while using our special ninja skills to defeat our enemies, as well as using our funny pirate accent to make fun of the more SERIOUS(ugh.) parties.

NOTE: This is for real.

EDIT: I'm running again. May the NPP and her allies, her friends, even her rivals rise with England!

Our policy is to have fun along with using our pirate-voice, ninja-skills, and general awesomeness.

I'm trying to ligthen up the game a bit. Seems like everyone is such a downer. Like, my plan of attack would be throwing CR archers at them.

jking of course.

Depends. At our current tech rate, about even with everyone, most likely not. The people we can use it on will have frigates before we can produce enough privateers. If we turn out to be #1 researcher, then yes. In character, yes if it brings profit.

So basically you would allways want to run a pillaging and spy economy :P i'd support that. Especially the spy one, and once we get enough a pirate economy of privateers! That would teach other powers to try and have a navy.

Just a pirate voice? or a ninja one too?

NO NINJA VOICE! In character terms, yes. In game terms, I would probably be more balanced(money for both, lots of hammers and swords/military for pirates, lots of food for NINJAS) than many parties are currently. I would focus on getting a strong production base, strong economy, strong food sites, as well as a decent military, basically trying to balance everything.

Our theme song:

imma ninja pirate, ninja pirate, ninja pirate, ARGH!
imma ninja pirate, ninja pirate, ninja pirate, HEYYAH!
thats right, thats right, imma ninja priate
you think you can steal, you think you can fight,
but you havn't met a NINJA-PIRATE
join the ninja-pirate party now!
imma ninja pirate, ninja pirate, ninja pirate, ARGH!
imma ninja pirate, ninja pirate, ninja pirate, HEYYAH!
thats right, thats right, imma ninja priate
we've got lots of money, lots of food, and other stuff too
be a ninja-pirate!

You can uncover your ears now if you have any.

7. Building a worker in a POP 1 city.

Wait a minute there. Go to RB. Most advanced (as in Deity and Immortal) players there build a worker first (even though stubborn me builds warrior then worker).

Also, cool party, sounds interesting. Can you go into more detail about your opinions on war?

BTW, I like your theme song! I'll be singing it around the house for weeks. What's the melody to it?

War for gain, war for money, more hammers, and more pretty food is good. War like the one we are in now is BAD unless we can turn it around.

Worker first is typical, however sometimes warrior first is actual a good choice.

Grrrr... :p

Yay!!! :goodjob:

I ask that whosits request for a save be denied. I dont think that is how realpolitik was meant to be played. Although, i would ask that we get some screens of what happened and what it looks like now, i understand why LH wouldnt want to send those.

ITS FAITH AND STRENGTH.

I vote for Faith and Strength, and hold the second in reserve.

I also vote Faith and Strength and hold my second in reserve.

BTW, arya, I cannot messenge you or anyone else as of the current time, apparently my post count is STILL too low. I appreciate your patience, I am thinking that we need to find a way to consult with each other that's going to work in the immediate term.

Its not postcount, JoeMacUnGee. Its also days. 5 days and 5 posts. You just have to wait ATM.

You joined July 6th EST, and today is July 10th EST. While that is 5 days, I think its more than five days. Regardless, you've get them before elections close.

I'll provide the information, but I'm being swept away by this - every time I step in this thread and notice how long it is, how long it's been here and that it almost never leaves the top slot . . . the thought hits me that I've established myself as a major forum identity(I know, pompous!) and I want to go hide under the bed.

So, back on-topic, I have 4 solutions to The Battle of Ravus-York(since this is still technically arya's term he decides which:king:).

- Just fight it out like we have been
- Small-scale CIV battle with many little French towns and strategic terrain
- Narrative battle, like with the Night Eagles(but more awesome
- Fight it out against two hards in Battle for Middle-Earth II as the Men of the West

If we fight it out as we have been it's looming over the nation's head as a battle that we just can't win regularly without an idiotic amount of luck.:p

A small-scale CIV battle will give a lot more terrain options and allow me to bleed to Romans dry - so long as I play well. It's also good training for Armed Revolution battles.:goodjob:

Narrative is where I imagine it and roll dice/flip coins for major decisions. However, this is a little more random, but you'll get to see me write again(AHH!! THE POMPOSITY:crazyeye:!!!)

I'm actually a pretty good BFME2 player - I can War of the Ring against 2 brutals and a hard. I'm usually driven back early-game, but I can break them on Fortress maps and take the offensive.

Your call, Mr. President - do you trust my writing or gaming skills, and if the latter, in what area?

BTW, inflation and the financial shenanigans are why I don't particularly like CIV.
