For the record, I am opposed to taking Italy. All we have to do is seal off the chokepoints in the mountains and then post ships in the Strait of Gibraltar to completely seal him in once we capture Germany. Then later, once we get Feudalism we can just go in, take a city and cap him. Boom. Caesar is out of the game.

They could capitulate any turn to either russia or the vikings. We need to take italy AND germany NOW. But tyhats all i want to say on this matter, as we pretty much exhausted this debate a while back, and it would be pointless to keep it up since the decision has already been made in favor of germany.

Cull, if germany is taken, would you accept a request for me to lead an army into italy to finish off the romans in western europe and ensure that the russians dont end up having influance in that area? An additional 3 cities (that all have good production/food/2 have hopefully good commerce) could help us out in the long run tremendously. Just commit a certain number of left over veterans from germany and any reinforcements that have been built, and we will take settia, and hopefully rome as well, and will keep going until either peace is made or our army burns out.

I would rather wait a little longer of pictures, make a better, more detailed plan than play right now.

We've already said why taking both Germany or Italy is bad. And even if we were to get it by WBed or story, it still costs too much ATM. Once we get picture and current fiances, then we're decide.

If we dont take italy, we might be in a SLIGHTLY better financial situation in the short term, but we will be much worse off in national security. Once we make peace, there are 4 or 5 options that could happen in the result of the war in the east, all of them bad for us.

1. Russia counterattacks and drives to rome. They take all of eastern europe and italy. We are facing a superpower that could take us out without blinking. Military costs to keep a ready defence will be horrible.

2. Russia counterattacks and manages to get rome to capitulate. We now face a russia with a vassal that nearly beat us in this war. We get screwed when they come after us after a century of rebuilding.

3. Rome manages to win against russia and the vikings, and either annex or get alot of land from both. They turn their attention west to us, and decides to avenge their defeat.

4. Rome manages to make such gains against the vikings and russians that they capitulate to rome. We are now facing a more powerful than ever rome with 2 powerful vassals.

5. The war ends in a white peace, leaving the vikings as a potential ally, and rome and russia as resurgent enemies that will attack us once they rebuild from this latest war.

Take your pick.

We take Italy and Germany, our military is stretched thin, our economy is in shambles(need to see pics, but I'm close to certain this is true), and we look like open yummy targets to everyone.

Our military should not be strectched thin. WE have the troops that hav ebeen preparing for the next offensive. Once the war is over, defensive troops are constructed here and there until every city has 3 defenders, and the leftover offensive troops are assembled in a central location near any threat (like rome). After 10-15 turns of peace we have a very solid defense, and the economy shouldnt take more than 30 turns to get into a reasonable shape.

The economy isnt exactly in shambles. Its not at its best, and it needs help, but we are already on track to doing it. Finish the developement in Iberia, and keep going into france and eventually germany and italy to get as much out of each city as we can. Courthouses should be built in addition to markets and banks and monastaries and temples. They all add their own benefit that will help the economy. I think we could reach a 60% science rate in wartime, and an 80-90% in peace time in this plan.

Well i have finally come up with a list of presidents that i have liked best.
1. Lighthearter. There was no commotion. A nice peaceful term.
2. Ravus. Another peaceful term. No real fighting. Alot was accomplished.
3. Mathnerd. He hasnt even spent any time in office, and this first half of the term looks like it will be completed by cull, but he was very easygoing. Much more reasonable than what cull is being (although we still disagree on alot), and doesnt take things as persoanlly as whosit.
4. Whosit. Decent president, did a reasonably good job, and was very charasmatic (which can be a bad thing at times, especially in this case). Took things too personally, and made some wrong decisions in my opinion.
5. Cull. I just dont like how he has been handling the presidency since whosit has had to leave as well as MN. His first term was 'meh'. Very anti-opposition. Made some bad mistakes. But gave us a decent base for the future.

Thats it right? I didnt miss anyone? I am actually thinking of helping LH out with an interview update...maybe i will do that today. Yes thats a great idea. Stay tuned for some survey PMs people. They will come in the next 7 hours or so.

Honestly, we probably could afford Italy....... by dropping the slider to 0 to pay for it. And we're so far behind in tech that's just not a option. We don't NEED Italy. We NEED tech parity so that Russia can't steam roll us. Rome is not the threat. Russia is. What we really need right now is Longbows.

You guys seem to be missing the point that cities can pay for themselves once they are developed. Germany will be creating excess commerce. Italy and medialanum could easily pay for themselves once you put in a courthouse and maybe a market or something.

Im sorry, but i am just including long term members. I dont consider caesar and captain long term yet. If you can get a majority to say otherwise on the thread, i will change my mind.

What i have put on the survey is final cull. I personally think i wasnt biased towards myself (anymore biased that i could help anyway. Since i am talking about myself i expect there to be some bias, especially if you consider it bias and i dont). I dont think i was biased against anyone either. I sent one to Lh as well, and if he thinks anything is out of line, im sure he will tell me.

Ahh, okay. That explains it. Quick question: DO we still have Cull running around as Great Spy? If so I would like to propose that he undertake a scouting mission to Russia. Find out exactly what we're gonna be up against.

Also, once we deal with Rome, if we don't want to move on to Russia right away have we considered invading Carthage? Cottage spamming all those floodplains in North Africa could give us an incredible boost to our research if we could secure the territory.

Actually people want to befriend just about everyone. There are no plans to attack anyone else, and nobody seems like they going to make said plans anytime soon.

Trust me, WIM found a way to basicly blame me for everything bad in this country and none of the good. I doubt he could do that if its biased towards me. So Cull, do you plan on answering it? I want to at least get all the presidents in on this survey, if not some of the other people as well.

We don't need a full on Naval Invasion. The Strait of Gibraltar is one tile wide right? So we can just use a few boats as a land bridge and launch straight into Morocco.
