The Plan
Obviously, we've picked up new cities, so there's more to say. I did my best to minimize total Micromanagement, but there are a few areas where it really is critical. Please read the plan thoroughly before implementing it, and refer to it as needed.
Trades
I want to try and open a path to Liberalism. For that, we want to pick up Philosophy and Paper, if possible. Trades MUST be done in the order listed.
Sell: Calendar to Shaka for gold. Literature to Khan for gold. This gold may be used to help purchase techs in the next set of trades.
Hannibal: Trade Guilds to Hannibal for Paper + anything else you can get.
Peter: Guilds for Philosophy if possible, or Guilds + Paper for Philosophy + anything else you can get.
The upside is that we can tech Education > Liberalism immediately. Downside is, so can Peter and Hannibal.
Technology: After we get Paper, research Education and then Liberalism. When Liberalism is teched, grab Nationalism so we can adopt Nationhood and DRAFT! For great justice! And great asskicking.
Civics:
Use our Great Prophet Ravus to start a Golden Age.
Immediately adopt the following civics (I'm including civics we are already in for thoroughness):
-Hereditary Rule
-Bureaucracy
-Slavery
-Mercantilism
-Organized Religion
Note on Mercantilism:
Sorry to give you more micromanaging jobs, but I'd like you to go through every city after the revolution to make sure our new specialists are right. Here's what we want:
In cities with high beaker multipliers (greater than 25%), have them hire a scientist. Everywhere else, hire a Merchant if possible. If not, Scientist. If not, next best thing.
Why do we want Merchants? They will help us afford to keep the science slider at higher levels, making our cities with high beaker-multipliers even better!
You will probably have to check back in the cities now and again to make sure they didn't shift around, or adjust them as new Specialist-enabling buildings are built.
Actually, Bureaucrocy vs. Vassalage. Both High maintenance. Burea worth aprox. 15 extra commerce in capital, about 9 more hammers. Vassalage is more XP. Since war is likely to come, it's hard to say which is better right now. I'm looking for suggestions, with good reasoning to back it up
Other notes
*Great General to Antium. Settle.
*Great Prophet starts Golden Age.
*Great Spy explores world map.
*Build Missionaries when possible. Send them to Egypt.
Copperhead Issue
*Upgrade our Archer to a Crossbowman (after tech trades--hopefully we have the cash available. If not, beg cash off of anyone we can (Civs Pleased with us or better)).
*Send Maceman from Birmingham to Ravus-York, as well as any other anti-Melee units available.
*Publicly declare that any Copperheads who lay down their arms and surrender will be treated with leniency. Those who fight will be killed to the man.
Cities
I've included some pictures to help you visualize tile changes. I'm sorry that this section is so long. You probably won't believe me, but, for the most part, I tried to be as generalized as possible. Well, as much as it's possible for me. Also, apologies in advance for caps.
London
*CANCEL Walls!! Totally useless here.
*London will most likely stagnate after gaining 2 more population. That's fine.
*Builds: Prioritize Science boosters, with the odd Longbowman for defense, as well as a couple of Triremes. Queue up a Bank if there are no Science boosters to be built.
Liverpool
*Turn coastal (1 food/ 1 commerce) citizen into Scientist to stagnate growth
*Finish Market, build a Harbor (may require a Lighthouse). After that, a Bank.
*Units: None
Plymouth
*WHIP the Library, then build LIGHTHOUSE, after that, a MARKET
*Hire specialists as soon as possible. Scientists > Merchants
*Get a unit here for GARISSON purposes! Some of the unhappiness is probably due to no protection.
*Whip as often as possible, but only if you'll whip 2+ citizens to avoid stacking anger. But let whip anger subside if you've built up 3+ unhappy faces.
Ravus-York
*Take Pig tile from Antium (it doesn't need it).
*Place Forge at front of build queue. Put ONE turn of production into Forge, then whip it. This should cost 4 population, erasing the unhappy citizens, adding 1 point of whip anger, and generating 2 more happy faces for the Gold and Silver. It balances out
*Work Wheat and Pig to rapidly make up for population loss.
*Keep an eye on the happiness of this city, and make sure to adjust tiles worked to prevent it from growing too large.
*Builds: As our Shrine city, prioritize gold boosters: Bank > Market > Grocer. Ignore other buildings unless there is a pressing need for them.
*Use "alt+s" to place a sign if you need to remember.
Antium
*Settle GREAT GENERAL here.
*Give Pigs to Ravus-York, both Wines to Amsterdam.
*Mine every hill tile. Take hill to southeast from Setia.
*Grow large enough to work every hill and generate enough food to feed said hills (this is size 10: 8 hills + wheat + grass forest (don't cut)). Until city hits size ten, work both Wheat and Sheep to rapidly grow.
*Switch production to a Forge.
*At size ten, with all hills improved with a Mine, the city should generate 26 base hammers (3 x 8 mines, +1 city square, +1 grassland forest). This will be adjusted to 32 with the Forge bonus.
Amsterdam
*Take both Wines from Antium, as well as the cottage between the Wines (Antium has no need of commerce). Wine tiles will help Amsterdam grow, so farms may eventually be cottaged over.
*Whip Market as soon as possible. Use Wines + farms to regrow quickly.
*Library is needed next! Maximize beaker output!
*Science boosting improvements should be prioritized. Monasteries included.
Neapolis
*Pig tile needs improvement. FOOD is PRIORITY.
*Quarry on stone for Hammers. Also, mine hill to the south.
*All flatland tiles need to be cottaged. Cut down FOREST north of city and cottage. Enemy units may use forest for cover in case of war.
*Build as many roads as possible, but Cottages take priority.
Cumae
*Horses need to be improved.
*Let city grow into Silver mine, then switch production to WORKER. Build -3. After that, grow into next tile improvement (mine), then another WORKER. Rinse and repeat once more.
*Hills should get windmills for commerce.
*After workers, Science-boosting improvements (Library, Monastery) takes priority. Cancel Crossbowman.
Birmingham
*Special Note: As our Heroic Epic city, Birmingham needs to produce as many HAMMERS as possible to get the greatest effect from its multipliers. Commerce means nothing, and it only needs enough food to maximize hammer production.
The city MUST NOT GROW FURTHER.
*Birmingham needs IMMEDIATE Worker attention. Grab the two closest workers and get them down here.
*Give it the indicated tiles. Stop working three coastal tiles, and instead work the PLAINS HILL to the north, the PLAINS HILL to the east (take it from Arya-Kent), and the PLAIN FARM to the southeast.
*FARM over the plains cottage south of the city. As soon as the farm is complete, work the plains farm instead of the last coastal tile.
*Working all these tiles gives the city a base production of 20 hammers per turn.
*Build orders: As soon as the Maceman is complete, build a FORGE. Hammers are key! Follow with a STABLE.
*Once both FORGE and STABLE are built, build KNIGHTS nonstop!
Cull-Norwich
*Give Plains Farm to Birmingham, work plains-hill mine
*After Lighthouse, build ONE Christian Missionary to convert SETIA. After that: PUMP OUT WORKERS!
*With Forge bonus (21 hammers total, no food surplus), should be able to build 3-turn workers (60 hammers apiece). Build 6 of them.
Arya-Kent
*Give western mines (grassland and plains hills) to Birmingham. Work eastern plains hill mine.
*The hill with Silver needs to be mined!!
*Let Market finish, then build a Work Boat to re-connect Fish for food, and then build a Lighthouse.
*After that, build units (Longbowmen/Crossbowmen) for garrison purposes. Build a Courthouse at some point.
Setia
*Hill to northwest goes to Antium.
*Build a Granary. Grow into PRODUCTION tiles. Build Missionaries once Christianity is spread here.
*Improve terrain, but this is a low-priority location.
Rome
*Looks like culture got wonky here. =\
*Replace Wine cottage with Winery.
*Build Library, then focus on buildings that produce culture.
