Realpolitik: The Presidents

GM: Stop the OT.

Take it to the social group.

It is much better there than in any thread.

Can someone invite me to the social group?

As Mr. President Lenin Mosher is not here now, I will speak for him.

Mosher said:
Basic plan will be -
Draft, build troops, settle Denver, Library in Washington. Don't have much time to come up with anything but this right now, will later/tomorrow, though.

I am the Opposition Leader.

Congratulations, Mosher, no matter how much I regret your success.

Dear Mr. President,

Since your power has been restored, we respectfully ask that you stop golfing and SHOW UP AT WORK!

Thanks.

Here's the plan - feedback welcome.

-Make Quebec a state; make Nova Scotia a state.
-Settle Denver on the Oil
-Build troops (riflemen and cannon infinitely) in Boston and New York.
-Build wealth in our Canadian cities, except for Halifax (build two work boats there).
-Build a library -> market in Washington D.C.
-Workers - Build a road to Denver, improve food resources there first (I forget if there are food resources in the initial 3x3, if not, build farms). Build culture in Denver until its border pops, then a forge.
-In Jacksonville, build a Library. If there already is one, run two scientists there.
-Settle on the West Coast, on the cows
-No where else I feel we need to settle.

Tech towards communism.

An F6 screenshot of the tech tree would be handy. Is there possibly another tech that we might want to get before Communism? For example, something like Physics/Economics or whatever their equivalents are for a free Great Person?

Settling on top of Oil does mean that we can't disconnect it later if Unhealthiness from Factories is becoming an issue. Is that location really the best that there is?

Are we attacking anyone or just building up our forces? If just building up, where should the troops go?

What types of promotions? Combat I and Pinch for Gunpowder units, then City Raider for Cannons?

If Jacksonville needs to build a Library, should we aim to hire 2 Scientists there once the Library has been completed? (I don't know if that situation will happen in this turnset or not.)

Settling on top of a Cow? I hope that it's a Grassland Cow, so that we at least get +1 Food in the City's Centre. If it's a Plains Cow, that's a pure loss of the Cow. If it is a Plains Cow, is there nowhere else to settle the City or are we gaining an otherwise-unworkable Seafood Resource out of the deal (in which case it's reasonably justifiable)?

Yes, we'll hire two scientists there once it's completed in Jacksonville. Promotions will be combat for riflemen, collateral -> accuracy for the cannon (this is DoC, not vanilla BtS - siege is NOT very important in this mod). Beelining communism is part of our platform.

For your two question on the cities, hang on while I load up DoC and take a couple of screenshots that should explain everything for themselves.

I suggest not founding a city on the mating grounds of the cows, but a city few miles north(1N) is a nice spot.

As for research, I suggest putting our scientists to work on Assembly Lining and the theory of electricity. These theories will change civilization!

@Tyo - In my France game, city on the cows is size 21.It was founded in 1884 - the current year is 1943. Founding one north misses out on fish, wines, and stone.
I'll consider assembly line, right now.

I can't upload screenshots currently - for some reason they are just coming out as black screens.

On the cows is the best city spot, especially since it gives you enough room to settle a Vancouver with plenty of space. Denver will get 200 hammers a turn once it is well developed, even without the ironworks, and grow to size 20. A little side note on Chicago - it can build the Opera House in 2 turns, and continue growing significantly at size 27, even with basically everything at it cottaged over.

Okay, it makes sense to settle on the Cow then, particularly if no other future City would be able to get these Resources within its fat cross.
