Recommend a City

I think Madrid or Barcelona would be nice. I have been in both of them a couple times and like them a lot. I don't know if it gets too hot in Madrid in June, so Barcelona might be better.

In barcelona, you walk on bird poo all day.

Montevideu is a nice city and all... probably a great place to live in. But it is by no means more beautiful than Rio or, say, Santiago. In fact even Punta del Este, also in Uruguay, is more beautiful than Montevideu.

I've never been to Rio or Santiago so i can't comment on that.

Punta del Este is a nice city, i was there for half a day i think. Didn't see much of it though.

You walk on bird poo if you do what every tourist does: visit the medieval city. Medieval cities aren't easy to clean... but maybe you didn't know that since in Poland the medieval cities were destroyed.

Been to San Antonio or Philadelphia?

For South Americans like me Montevideu is a good destination for urban tourism. But I don't think people from Europe or the US want that kind of tourism in South America, because to put it bluntly their cities are better. However, no place in Europe or the US (or the world for that matter) has the shocking natural beauty of Rio de Janeiro. Santiago has a more common kind of beauty, but the Andes in the background are still breathtaking and make the city quite interesting, unique and worth a visit.

I've heard that Bucharest, Prague, Copenhagen, and Paris are all worthwhile cities.

Mogadishu.

Does the DC museum look like this:

Definately one of the most awesome buildings I've ever seen.

But yeah Americans have stolen some nice art. Like the Met in New York with their whole freakin' ancient temples stolen from Egypt. :mischief:

Nope, it looks like this!

My wife and I are celebrating our 20th Anniversary in June. We would like to spend a week in just one city. We love museums, theaters, galleries, etc.

We have been to most major North American cities along with many in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

We are thinking about London and Paris.
Others have suggested Budapest, Amsterdam, St. Petersburg, Rio, Buenos Aires, Istanbul and Cuzco.

What do you think of London or Paris? Or tell me about another great city and why you recommend it.

Bruges. Definately.

One of the most preserved medieval cities in the worlds with great Gothic architecture and the relic of the holy blood. Plus, it's close to the sea, Ypres (WO I memorial site), Ghent (like Amsterdam but with more beautiful buildings) and a huge nature park.
Additionally, Belgian food is only surpassed by French one ^^ . Lastly, it isn't crowded with tourists/pigeons.

Detroit, MI.

Relying on each other for survival will bring the two of you closer than you ever have before!

If you haven't been to either London or Paris, I would suggest one of these two above anything else. London would probably be easier since they speak English :)

I was to Willemstad in Curacao last summer. Fascinating to see this cute little city filled with Dutch architecture in the middle of the Caribbean(not that I know how Dutch architecture is, but it still looks like it).

Or, because there are no medieval cities near Katowice.

Lots of cities still have the medieval parts in it, heck, even Warsaw's medieval city part survived ww2 bombing.

Is Santiago like Denver in skyline except bigger and warmer?

Don't visit New York if you don't like getting robbed/bullied in the subway.

Have you ever actually taken the subway in New York?

I've taken the subway hundreds of times and I've never seen a robbery. I've lived just outside the city nearly all my life ;)

That's because you go to the subway at daylight. ;)
