Requests for new components (and features)

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but i downloaded BUG today, and somethings screwy. when i start a new game, the tech adviser pops up, and it only has the religious techs: mysticism to preisthood and monotheism. everything else isnt there. this is the case for the tech adviser in general, not just when it pops up at the beginning of every game.
Also, the scores display doesnt work. even when the button for it is on, it doesnt show up. The only reason I wanted BUG was for the enhanced score display and the GG thing, which is the only thing thats actually working.
I tried uninstalling the mod, but the score display and the tech adviser are still messed up.
So can someone please tell me how to fix this, or if there isnt a way, how to properly scourge this thing from my game?

@contox - please only post this issue in one thread. Your previous question was answered - did you check?

Ok, as soon as I start a game, the technology adviser pops up, but it only shows the religion techs, and nothing else.

Also, the scoreboard doesn't show up. i have tried clicking the button that usually controls the scoreboard, but it just doesn't show. finally, the Info screen doesn't work.

How do I fix this???

EDIT: So I uninstalled it because, honestly, its terrible. And all the errors are still there. The score doesn't show, and the Tech adviser is screwed up.

BUG requires version 3.13 or 3.17 of BTS. From the main menu, click ADVANCED and ABOUT THIS BUILD. You will probably see 300 or 303 for Civ4 version. Get the free patch, and try again.

BUG question: I'm using BUG with WolfRev and the AI keeps spinning of new civs from revolutions. Now there is something like 27 Civs. Anyway, the interface is now so long that it's pushed the top civs off the screen completely, and covered up the buttons to save the game. Is there a hot key combo to minimize the interface? Thanks in advance.

The right-most button below the scoreboard hides it. CTRL + I will use a minimal interface, and ALT + I hides it altogether (all buttons). CTRL + S saves the game.

I added a feature to BUG to allow you to limit the scoreboard to the top X civs, but I don't know which version WolfRev is using. Check out the Scoreboard tab of the BUG Options Screen (ALT + CTRL + O).

Yeah, sorry, I didn't check.
But I did try installing the new patch. i clicked check for updates, and install....and nothing. When I try to get out of the screen it says i cant because its still installing. But i left it like that for 2 days a month or two ago, and it just doesn't finish.
I don't know if its the disk, or the computer, or some arcane magic keeping me from fixing this game.

Edit: well, i tried it again and got this.

Is there anytrhing i have to do after its actually downloaded, like insert some type of file into the code or something?
because ive downloaded it 4 times and the game still says its version 303

If you click on your own name in the scoreboard it will hide all the other civs in the list, leaving only your own displayed. Clicking on your name again will bring them all back.

yeah, nope. I've downloaded it with 6 different websites, and the actual game, and it just does not work. its still version 303

So how do I properly uninstall this mod? Because actually uninstalling it DOESN'T uninstall it, in reality. Everything's still screwed up.

Yeah, I got that. The problem is that when you have 25+ Civs on the board YOUR name is pushed completely off the screen. :)

Thanks. :goodjob:

Did you actually activate the patch after downloading? Meaning did you double click on the patch icon? It's an .exe that needs to be installed into your game, it doesn't just patch things automatically.

I think I also had just the same problem; I installed the patch but it didn't... recognize it, probabely. I was wanting to install the hof mod 3.17, which requires, you might've guessed, BtS 3.17.

Reinstalling civ fixed it ;)

ok, so i guess ill reinstall the game...fun afternoon i have ahead of me...

Civ4's patch process, as can be seen by the 3.17 thread, is less than stellar.

However, if you just want to uninstall BUG and the uninstaller isn't working, just delete the folder "My Games\Beyond the Sword\CustomAssets".

There's that thread discussing unit naming. I don't know whether it is discussing your idea but that might be a good place to mention it.

@zulu9812 - It's a neat idea, and if someone codes it up we'll gladly include it. But we're pretty busy with existing features and releases. It's tough to prioritize requests with all the other stuff (including RL) that we must juggle.

I've got another request - I don't think it'd be easy to implement though. :(

I often wonder how strong the *defensive* position of my unit/stack is. Here's an example from the very early game: Let's say a warrior was wounded by animals, I now have him healing, and I see a lion approaching him. My options are to attack, move away, or do nothing (and possibly be attacked). I can see easily how good his chances of winning are if I attack the lion. But it's difficult to find out how good his chances are if he waits and lets the lion attack. I can calculate it, since the formula is known and all necessary variables can be looked up in the game, but that's a lot of work especially when many factors are involved.

So my question is, is it possible to let the player choose a unit he doesn't own, and see its combat chances against another unit?
