Resources

I will now resurrect this project.
Started to collect all extra resources (for a normal world) from all mods. Have currently found a total 26 extra resources.
After that I will start making new ones. And after that I will start making new effects and uses for the resources, and balancing them.
Will eventually even try to make some resources look better.


Found extra resources in:

Sevomod (Ancient Temple, Coffee, Cotton, Natural Gas, Pearls, Salt, Sulphur)
Warhammer (Barley)
The Ancient Mediterranean (Amber, Clay, Flax, Fruit, Olives, Opium, Papyrus, Timber, Tin)
??Secret?? (Book, Diesel, Steel, Textile, Munitions, Hemp, Hit Video Games, Lemons, Potatoes, Saltpeter)

If there is any other mod you know about with new resources that fit in our world (and eg not mana from FfH), please report it here so I can collect them.
 
The 14 resorces mod already includes half of your list and would be a good base to start from, it dosn't have any of the Anchient Med resorces though. I personaly feel many of the Graphics from Anchient Med are poor and could use improvment to bring them to the level found in 14 resorces.

This thread so far has been gradualy building a larger and larger Resorce mod with work by a number of folks, the latest version by Amra has some Buildings which need to be droped to create a pure Resorce only mod. (which serves primarily as a component in creating larger mods).

One thing to (also) think about is:

Many "ancient" resources, flint for example are also the same basic places where they find shale for oil extraction in the modern era. Flint would carry through all the way to just before the industrial age where shale extraction would begin in the late industrial age. You could control this with A. different improvment methods (meaning eventually you'd work the square twice) with different city-buildings that would become obsolete/become available during the right eras.

otherwise the list looks good. from my own mod I've added:

Hardwood (a reskinned/scaled banana tree) (which looks better than it sounds)
spawning grounds (in ocean/coast) used in different era's for the industrial explotation of different fish. Salmon making the full circle of eras at the beginning and end.

buffalo(american bison) which had major industrial & agricultural use in the early industrial era, after being a food resource from the ancient era

with fruit/grain crops you can control what latitudes resources spawn in the game, with a little tweaking (and much major cussing) you can get rye to grow in the cold climates, and rice in the tropical areas. so you can do multiple (redundant) types without having it be simply a matter of more = better.

Sulphur in the ancient era used in medical/mystical lore, warfare in the gunpowder era, industry in the industrial era.

last note you could do a series of "unique" (flag on resources btw for those who don't know) of resources to create national wonders....mt. rushmore and 3 gorges dam (I know it's a world wonder atm) come to mind, but a "sacred grove", "grand canyon" or "hot springs/gysers" come to mind that woudl give flavor (& sundry benifit)

to me, more is better, more diverse along with more improvements to exploit them, it isn't the most historically accurate thing but it is a lot more fun to look at a map full of 'stuff' than to look at a lot of barren wilderness. just an opinion.

Okej thank you Impaler[WrG] and Amra with that mod. I will start from that one, adding and improving the resources.

Edit:

Changed graphics for potato by asioasioasio and icon on gems from warhammer. What more icons should be imoroved? Got any image I should include?
 
Started combinding resources from diffrent mods and enhancing graphics.
 
Almost finished combinding 22 new resources and improved a few icons of the old ones.
Havent decided if this mod should just have the new resources or new improvement and such too.

new improvements would be welcome, the only "problem" (not really a problem, just an issue I ran into with my own attempts) with outdoor thingies, like breweries, malls, water-wells, unless put on a specific (& rare) resource, your map starts looking like bad development project.....

the great Alexendar Mall Parking Lot Debacle had absolutely nothing to do with this conversation, in fact, I've never even heard of putting a purely commerical improvment out there walking away for three hours as a 2 year old plays the game...to come back to see malls from shore to shore... *grin*

the only resources I've made (recolored) are Hardwood (a recolored and oversized bannana tree) and buffalo (american bison) (cows on 'roids graphic) lemme figure out how to upload and I'll post them for your laughter...

dont forget acorns they were very important. acorns in europe were ground up and then made in 2 bread (sounds worse the it tastes)(very healthy 2 eat)
in the middle ages was food 4 peasonts (lol dunno how 2 spell) during lean years.
