OK I want all to be happy, so I will restart. I will put toroidal again but since there seems to be a bug are you trying vikings again or something else?

I think the bug is that it resets the settings to default after changing the map size for example, but only in the setup screen, so you just need to set toroidal again before launching.
If you are sure that you cheched all the settings before launching the game and they were for toroidal, but the map is still not toroidal, that will show there is a bug in the creation method beyond your control.

New game is up, I made sure this time, if we get flat again it is a bug and I will not restart.

Considering we're launching a new one, I will respectfully drop out of this one.
The reason is simple, I have run into multiple different problems to play this because I struggle to properly connect to the hamachi network in several locations where I stay.
So far, I've only played about 1/3 of the turns, having to find devocated sub most of the time.
I was going to carry on, by respect of the commitment taken, but since this is a fresh start, I feel it's best to remove myself, avoiding to put possibly a huge burden on them.
Let's be clear I wanted, and would still want, to play this very bad :'(
On a side note, I'm also very disappointed not to be able to play out 1 of the best start I could have diced... :

I have to say that I am not happy with that all. Some turns were played, and I dont want to play for a week again and find that we are rehosting/changing ppl set and completely everything.
If Penny is getting a sub and it is turn 0, I think that we need to repick civs, or allow this sub to choose.

Well it seems it is impossible to keep everyone happy, I thought it was only fair to start again since Vikings without toroidal is useless.
Now penny drops out, we are at point 0 again looking for a player. Nice....
Not sure what to do here, obviously we need a player so any suggestions are welcome.
Hopefully we will find someone and he will agree to play hammurabi of Zulu.

My sub as the possibility to take Joao, August, and Inca instead, so that shouldn't be an issue.
If you find a way to make us not-use hamachi, then for sure I'm all up for it.

Thats true. I had to live the new map as I had a great start and now I only have a good one. If the regression goes this way, the next of my starts will be all jungle with 1 plain cow
I knew by heart that once I raise the issue with the flat map and then it will roll down the slope. Now the Pandora's box of regenerating the map is open and it will never stops, as always someone will be unhappy - because if we do regenerate again someone will lose a great start, or because we not regenerate again, so he can get a better starting location.
I vote either to find a way of not using hamachi, so Penny can play his civ, and the game continues as it is, or we to find a replacement for him, who is willing to play his civ and leader.

Guys don't regrade about your starts!!! Flat green wheel is really boring map with no action is like inland sea. Playing toroidal is much more interesting!!!
