Re: Customs Union

New York is open to favourable economic agreements between our nations however removing all tariffs between our states is perhaps too much at this time. Our governments budget is largely made up of tariffs. We would be more than willing to lower tariffs between our states to encourage growth and promise to look at further reductions in the future.

Excellent. Can New Hampshire agree to a customs union, or to that?

@TLJ: Any suggestions are welcome.

At this point of time New York currently holds the position of secretary within the Union. As such we represent the congress of the United States on external matters.

Congress has voted for neutrality in the growing European conflict and will not support either side.

We would like to inform the UK that the USA will not be entering this European conflict.

Massachusetts affirms that New York does indeed have the authority to post diplomacy on behalf on the Union.

To the United States
From Great Britain:

We appreciate your neutrality on what is clearly a European affair. However we are disheartened that while the United States has finally made a communal foreign policy the state of Kentucky has made formal claims in support of France. We simply ask Kentucky to reaffirm its neutrality in the matter.

Of course its going to be easy. Its not like the French have a history of being a dominate land power around this time period.

OOC: It's not you I'm worried about.

Our policy is our policy. We support France, and the USA or you can't convince me otherwise.

We would like to a quad-state area mutual trade pact to encourage devlopment, growth, foreign commerce and investment. Perhaps we could also include Delaware, we like to name it the Princeton Accords of Mutual Economic Devlopment (PAMED).

To: New Jersey
From: Connecticut
CC: DE, NY, and PA

We will gladly join such a pact.:)

New Jersey has been selected to represent the memeber signatories states of the Princeton Accords of Mutual Economic Devlopment (PAMED). If you are interested in making an trade agreement with our group (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Delaware), please contact us with your ideas, pacts or agreements.

OOC: Not only am I the secretary of the Union but also for EQ. Below are EQ's responses for some questions throughout the thread.

Accepted.

@Das. I'll add in the Persian tribes and clergy, and if there's anything else he wants me to add in for Persian factions, I'll be happy to do so.

@Eltain. I recommend that he takes a look at the Holy Roman Empire list of nations and see if there's one there. Outside of that, I'd recommend any of the nations within the Asia group, as they're likely to be frequently at war. A specific recommendation would be Burma.

@bestshot9. I have PMed you EQ's email address to send orders. Let me know if this has not been received.

Excellent. Can New Hampshire agree to a customs union, or to that?

@TLJ: Any suggestions are welcome.

OOC: I would suggest that you tell Connecticut to take their territorial claims and suck it, as there is very little they can do about it. But you already signed the treaty, so it's too late for that. I guess there just won't be a Boston-centric New England in this NES :(

But ... I haven't just signed away Massachusetts' future predominance by that deal. I don't get your rationale there. I've just rid myself of one county and gained a few valuable portages and the control of Virginia's trade with the lakes. :confused: I haven't done much at all.

OOC: You're conceding away territory before the first update with a fellow state, and there's damn little they can do about their claims, as your both part of the USA. Had you asked for arbitration from New York (HINT HINT) on the matter, you could have shown that Massachusetts settlers had been moving west for far longer than those of Connecticut, thus giving your claim legitimacy. Also, by ceding those western counties, you just handed Connecticut a highway to cut Massachusetts in half were you to ever go to war with them. Not that I'd know anything about that, or that that would ever happen :P

No, I've sold them the very territory that they cut off. Now, if they, sometime in the future, do to me what they did to you in ABNW in the third update, then they will not cut my country in half but will instead cut off less than a tenth of my territory.

And now, no-one can contradict my claims to my Western territory either, and I can settle it just as I like.

And HINT HINT? What?

All right, I have responded to all Private Messages sent to me, and while I have managed to use the interweb at the library, this time, I'm out for reals. According to Bright House, they claim they could have us hooked up tomorrow, but I'll believe it when I see it.
