[RFC] 40 Civilizations: Destruction of History

why you kept the ottos capital? if you burned if down they would collapse :(

That's insane. How are you still stable????

i don't know why, but a mighty germany can turn out very stable if played by the player :mischief:
in RFC:Rand i once had in my control like, all of the map Europe, west Russia, from Greece till India. and a very stable (around +40~, very old save, can't remember)

Looks like this story's coming to a close soon (Whew...). I might do another one a bit later on and I think I'll use RFC Synthesis when it's a bit more developed :D.

I hope I didn't double post a picture again

Nice work. Looks like your empire's staying stable on solely diplo and a supereconomy. Gotta try that myself sometime.

Good thing the incas weren't willing to become your vassal, they suck! there are much better vassals around, like Spain or Russia...

The best vassal is yourself.

Trufax.

If I could get a superempire like THAT to be my vassal in any of my games, I'd have already won Domination

Once, while playing RFC as Spain, I got an intercontinental empire. And by intercontinental, I mean Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Russia, India, and northern Cambodia/southern China.

Unfortunately, the save was lost when I had to reinstall my Civ4.

similar thing to me, but in RFC:RAND with germany, it's sad when things like that happen, isn't it?

Yeah. But the world was in a dead end - everyone had +200 nukes and +500 units inside their nations. It was really, really, really hard to capture any cities of the 3 superpowers (Spain (65% of world territory) Mongolia (16% of world territory, used to be a lot more before I conquered most of it) and America (23%)

I think those were the numbers.

Once as Germany (in RFC marathon), I have all of Europe under my control (except England, who was my vassal)

My vassal Mali, had all of Africa under his control (except for Tunis, owned by me, and Egypt, owned by Ottoman). (well about 2/3 of Africa, 1/3 was unclaimed)

My vassal Ottoman had all of Egypt, Middle East, India and Siam under his control.

My vassal Russia had all of USSR under his control up until the Mongol border, where he got cut off. (some of the north was unclaimed, but still)

My vassal England had most of the Americas under his control. (Well, the East Coast of America and most of South America, but still. Japan had Vancouver and LA. The rest was English or unclaimed)

My vassal China had all of Asia under his control. (except for what was owned by Russia, Ottoman and Mongolia. Mongolia ruled everything North of his starting city and that starting city)

The only two independent civs (other the mine) were Japan and Mongolia.

I had 48% of the world population. The second largest army (behind Ottomans, my vassals) and was the most advanced civ in the world (Mech Infantry in 1880)

Then **** hit the fan.

In 1878 China collapsed into civil war. Mongolia sent his riflemen in to unify the north. In 1880, Germany called a world congress (I was pretended it was called due to China collapsing, but irl it wasn't) to agree how to split the fallen state.

Lhasa was given to Germany.
Hong Kong was given to England.
Some city in southern China was given to Ottoman.

The Reich then sent elite mech infanty units in, shipped to Lhasa to invade the country.
The 3rd German-Mongol war breaks out due to the Mongol conquest of Beijing.

Japan then starts sending key Oil supplies to Mongolia, funding the Mongol war machine. The Fuhrer demands that they cut all trade to Mongolia. The shogun refuses.

It was this refusal that would start a world war. The war that would lead to the fall of the German Reich.

Mongolia becomes a vassal of Japan, and Japan modernizes the Mongolian war machine. (gifts them Assembly Line and Artillery)

It was the new line of Artillery and Infantry that would allow Mongolia to invade key cities from ReichFuhrer Stalin. And all thought in 1886 the Mongolia empire descended into Civil war. The Russians did as well.

In 1887, due to the lack of trade with the civil war torn Russia and China (not actually) Turkey experiences a great depression. It was this depression that would lead to the Arabs rebellion in 1890, and them collapsing into civil war in 1891.

Pressure from the German High Command was increasing. 3 of their 5 vassals had collapsed in the last 14 years. They entered martial law (not actually) and increased policing in major cities.

Meanwhile Lincoln saw this as his chance to rebel from the British. A huge war in BNA began, and once again Germany was forced to send soldiers off to distant lands. To fight in wars that would only benefit his allies.

Lincoln was defeated but the Aztecs then risked it. In 1903, the British Dictator was assassinated and a military coup was launched the same year. Britain descended into Anarchy, but a new leader was elected rather quickly, one that associated more with the Shogun, then with Germany.
In 1905, England became a vassal of Japan, going to war with Germany. The tides had turned, a country that ruled over 71% of the world just 20 years earlier (me+my allies land was that in the demographics just before China's collapse) was now on the verge of collapse, England's air superiority tore apart the German cities in France (How the hell does a country come out of a civil war with stealth technology, something that I lacked. I was very confused.) Meanwhile Ethiopia rebelled against Mali. And once again Germany was forced to send soldiers into allied lands.

The England continued bombing France, but didn't have the soldiers to launch a successful land invasion.

In 1911, Norway rebelled, this was the first rebellion from a country that was directly controlled by Germany.

The rebellion was put down in 1919.

Mali descended into Civil war in 1923 (I was unstable from having to many cities so gifted him some, this pushed him over the edge)

Meanwhile in 1924 Tokyo was invaded by Germany (finally got my navy over there to launch an invasion)

In 1929, I launch an attack on London, despite the 96%+ odds each time, my 11 Mech infantry are all defeated. In the battle the Fuhrer's son his killed, and the fuhrer looses the will to live (I rage quit).

It was a very frustrating yet fun game, as over a 40 year period, I went from being the undisputed world power, to an empire on the verge of collapsing with everyone at war with me.
It was very hard to maintain such a large empire and the stability killed me.

It was probably the best game of Civ I had, I have the save file from the turn before Russia collapsed. I can't remember the exact years of everything, but I remember the turn sequence so 1 turn= a year in this short story.

Post the save! POST IT! POST IT!

I hope so to. I really wanted that to be a story, but when I decided that it was story worth it was in like 1600 when my war against the Spanish-Egyptian alliance began. They weren't actually allies, but I needed my Cavalry to pass through Egypt to get to Spanish North Africa (I didn't have a navy at this point, I figured my vassal England would control the seas and I would control the land.) and Egypt refused my offer of Open Borders. I then demanded 350 gold as compensation for having to build a fleet due to our closed borders. He refused, so I went to war with him. At this point I was playing with a friend sitting next to me, and I seemed like a mad (as in insane) leader. I started laughing when the Spanish lay siege to my city in Poland saying that I thought this would be a boring war, but Spain has proven to be more fun that I first thought.
It was at that point that I thought this could be a story.

Also this was in RFC Marathon, which is a modmod of RFC. So you will need to download that first.

I will post the save in a minute, once I double check that I didn't overwrite it.

I looked at the save and realized I got some mistakes (this game was played last year during the march break, which we just had, so I was wrong on the tech:
I was using infantry not Mech Infantry and everyone else was using rifleman not Infantry.

This was the funnest civ game I ever had, and I really wish I did turn it into a story. However my incident of cheating early on in this game would probably not bode well.

Here is the story from the beginning:
I started as Rome, the first city I built was Roma, the second was Frankfurt. I built every single wonder I could in Frankfurt, knowing full well it would flip to the Germans. I then change over to Germany when it began.

The 13 wonders found in Frankfurt (the holy city of Christianity) gave me an advantage that I think players would complain about.
