On holiday now, so I'm finishing the narrative quickly.
The Russians are building an army in Asrakhan. The AI is going to use it quite badly, due to the aforementioned bug in RFC.
Meanwhile, miracles are occurring at Sur:
And the Caliphate is experiencing a religious revival:
The Conquest of Egypt is starting:
And continuing:
While the Caliphate's stability is boosted by the building of a new administrative center:
And further conquests in Egypt -
Result in its submission to the Sultan.
The Ethiopians also find it prudent to submit.
Here's the Caliphate in 1766:

The Sultan doesn't forget to trade with other peoples. We don't reject any useful knowledge which they might possess.
Also, a rather unthematic Turkish Olympic Park is built in Istanbul.
More vassals is always good.
The Spanish conquer Oman.
During a congress, the Sultan claims that as a Kaisar-i-Rum he's entitled to the city of Rome. Surprisingly, the nations of the world have approved his request.
Trades and demands:
And one more nation submits to the Caliphate.
This capitulation triggers a war with Russia and Spain, but Spanish Conquistadors are all killed in the hot Arabian desert.
The modernized Turkish army defeats Russian incursions into Crimea -
And pushes forward.
Note that the USA is also a vassal of the Sultan at that point.
The Russians finally move their large army, enticed by our Cavalry in the Caucasus.
Though severely weakened, the Russians manage to defeat Turkish Cavalry.
Not that it matters much, because
