RFCEurope 1.1

I'm sure we can, just not sure we should ;)

Here's a harmless idea: what about changing the player's civ name to have a "Great" prefix once 2/3 UHVs are achieved? Granted, that may seem weird for some civs so it could get a little variety. A cosmetic change only and it fits the concept of having achieved 2 goals out of 3.

Could also be fun if a civ manages, somehow, to get 2/3 too, to see that it's now called "Great X".

I have't played a while so I booted up a Dutch game and dear god it is a mess, France is a giga-blob (very solid) with Germany, Spain, Genoa and Portugal as vassals. Denmark-Sweden owns two German cities (Kiel, Jomsborg) and a Polish one (Posen). Venice is decent owning the entire Dalmatian coast and Greece plus Floerence, but no Crete or cyprus.

Place is a freaking mess.

EDIT: I rolled a game as Poland and I founded Novgorod which is actually 1S of the Lithuanian flip line according to the map, but it wants to flip

As is said, balance is far from perfect after the recent changes
Which SVN version do you play with?
I made some small adjustments recently

1 south?
According to which map?

Made some changes since that, pls update to the latest version:

- Province Croatia merged into Slavonia, province adjustment in the area - the Dalmatian coast will be better shaped culturally (between Venice and Hungary / Austria)
- Province adjustments in the Austrian neighborhood
- Minor changes in the defensive crusades, also updated them with the new provinces
- Hungarian anti-Ottoman UHV requires Slavonia
- Cyrenaica and Tripolitania are now OK for the Ottomans
- New indy cities: Graz (spawns in 1110AD, flips to Austria), Kalmar (spawns in 1050AD, flips to Sweden), Vologda is removed for now
- Changes in the Ottoman core and solid areas (only western Anatolia and Thrace are their core), thus making their early collapse less likely
- Minor nerfs to the Byzantine, French and Venetian modifiers
- Revised all civs' settler and war maps, significant improvements in AI city placement
- Bonus modifier for military units from the Triumphal Arch is reduced to 20% (until we find a better bonus)

sorry, the placement of the marsh was off and I was using it to determine the flip borders shown in the reference map.

The reference maps are not perfect
But you can check the exact spawn areas with holding the shift key down, and hovering over the map

Hey Absin, when the Arabs spawn the Byzantines get OK for Syria and Arabia. Why would it go from unstable to OK after a civilization moves in there? It should be the other way around. Also, I feel as though they should get some OK in Italy, with the Exarchate of Ravenna and all.

Oh, thanks, it's a mistake
Maybe I will also add some of the Italian provinces as OK, up until the Venetian spawn

PS: Absinthe Red as in red absinthe, not Absin the Red ;)

Ahhh.. Smooth.
On another note, I think it'd be awesome if you could simulate Justinian I's territorial gains. Perhaps give Byzantium some armies to take over Africa, Italy, and south Spain. And then just have the Rebellion mechanic wipe them out in a couple hundred years.
Of course, if this was to be implemented, I would suggest Egypt should flip to Arabia.

Could you add a stability screen like in DoC?

I was never a fan of that stability screen. Not to mention stability is a lot simpler in this, and I think a stability screen would only complicate things.

I think we should either make Egypt flip to Arabia or more strongly make them go for Alexandria because in a lot of my games Arabia never takes Egypt much less Any of north Africa like they should

I personally find it very useful.

Byzantines and Arabs need a revamp in general. But yes, Egypt flipping to Arabia needs to be implemented.

I'm not familiar with DoC's stability screen
But recently I was working on a stability overlay, similar to the SoI version

I've tried this (letting the Arabs flip Alexandria). It leads to a more historical Arabia. They get to Tunisia by the time of the Crusades.

This also has the effect of making the Crusades easier, as the Arab army would be in North Africa, instead of huge SoDs cramped in the Levant (because they have nowhere else to go).

An example of a dead France + Mega-Burgundy on Ottoman spawn.

Notice on the minimap that Burgundy also controls Valencia and Almeria.

France has really good land. It's either Burgundy who goes super or France. The trick is balancing them against each other so that both survive for a sufficiently long time.

Is it wrong if I quite enjoy both those screenshots?
Obviously this shouldn't happen in the majority of the games though
Same for Venice being annexed by Byzantium
