oh, by the way,

given my definitive decision to keep only one jet fighter, do you want another animation instead of the MiG-29, something perhaps older but that you consider more appropriate?
I could even differentiate the animations, parting the civs with the flavours anim. system. Like say having a MiG for Russia, China etc. and some F- for America, Western Europe etc.

Poor production??? nvm...

Persia is always causing problems. Perhaps you could boost India's starting production so that they can occupy some of their own land? Or maybe just jungle off some of the lower parts and leave them for later colonists?

Bah, all the problems come from a lack of disincentives to cross deserts! And there is nothing that can be done about it ;p

I remember China as an easy choice (so you're crap :p )
 thankyou.....!

Oh, no! @#*! oh, well... I would stick with modern animations then. If I knew what I was doing I might add an upgrade to my version anyway :)

What does "nvm" mean?

nvm is internet-speak for "never mind".

what's wrong with that?
I can use both the F-15 and MiG-29 for flavour animation, but I can also use for example the F-14 and the MiG-23 or anything else.
 I think we misunderstood each other. I'm disapointed that there wont be an early jet fighter ugrade but if that's what you've chosen then I would prefer to see only modern jet animations instead of an older version. I do like the idea of flavour animations though as long as they are from the same time period.

Since the testing for the mod is clearly reaching its end, I have a few ideas:

-optional East Asian replacement for the Byzantines (please!!! haha)
-period specific scenarios based off of the mod (nothing ancient or medieval, since this map simply would not be a good one for that... too all encompassing!)
-[insert pet idea here to fulfill the rule of three ;p]

The reason I think a scenario of the 17th or 18th century would be a good idea is that:

1) no one else has managed a really good convincing one
2) this map (and much of the tech tree) is really designed for that kind of scenario
3) most (admittedly not all) of the civs represented come from that period

What with the innovations in naval movement and the simple awesomeness of this map/mod, it is clear that a period specific scenario of the 17th-18th-19th period would come off perfectly. No one else has really pulled off a good scenario of that period (look at some of the stuff out there... not that impressive at all!), and being the first to do so would be pretty cool for you Rhye!

Come on... you know you wanna! haha ;p

Let me write MY schedule:

PART1:
-finish this version and send it to you
-write the readme and fix the animations while you test it
-in the meantime we can still discuss
-somebody has to correct my grammatical errors, as usual
-send you the beta and announce the release date
-after a while, post it

PART2
-make a random map
-make a biq with no bizantines (Ottomans start in Istanbul) but no other civ (I don't find anything worth to be in)
-in the meantime, you write the guides and I'll update the site. I want that page complete!!!!
-I bet there will be requests for some patches

PART3
-possible release of a multiplayer version
-possible release of a vanilla version
-I will not start any scenario project, though I'd like to. Too much work for me, but I'd assist anybody who wants to try with feedback.

PART4
-permanent vacantion! I will play multiplayer or succession games, but I'll retire from modding. That's enough! ;)

Just keep them in the same era. Early ones Mig-15, F-86, Lightning or later ones you mention, F-14, F-15, F-16, Su-27, Mig-29, Tornado, Jaguar, Super Etendarde. However I think if you select them newer ones from 1970 an onwards you might move them forward to Satellites or later techs. Rocketry is far to early for these newer. That's why I'm not alone in arguing about having at least two upgrades of jets.

I wonder if more generic ships name would be more appropriate.

For example "scout ship" or better "scout boat" instead of "curragh" (irish term)

Bur what to replace junk, galley etc.? The thing gets more difficult here.

I think you should give Feudalism all units free and hike up the corruption. That way you can have a ton of units, but you cant really build more units. It would be a bit better than the worthless piece of... junk it is now...

Could you consider giving the early religious traits (Pagan Cults, etc) as a free starting tech? In the few test games of 0.5 I have played, most of the ancient era Wonders (Pyramids, Temple of Artemis, etc.) are being built in the late middle ages or even in the 1900's in a few cases. Maybe making it much easier to research would help, few are ever completed in the Ancient Age.

This was fixed in the version I have. Being required for era advancement, those techs are discovered much earlier and now wonders get built on time.

That would be too unbalancing. I'll try to balance things out. Reduction of bonus units for AI also adds variety to his choices.

Is there a middle step between those 2 groups? Is there a jet that has been serving for many years?

btw I slightly modified the tech tree so that rocketry comes a bit later.

Of course there are...
I would think of aircrafts like F-104 Starfighter, F-8 Crusader, F4 Phantom, Mig-21, Mig-23, Draken, Mirage III and the most used by many many countries F-5.
Think the F4 Phantom and F-5 still flies in many AirForces today.
These would be some Vietnam era jets. The earlier would then be 50's during Korea. The latest from mid-70 onwards.

My little adds on this mods for sure, whatever you might do Rhye.
The jump from P-80 Shootingstars, Meteors (late 40's) to todays F-16, Mig-29 are just many times bigger than between a Sopwith Camel and a Hurricane.

Cemo

PS remember that rocketry made the rocket come forward, supersonic speed made the jets develop into spaceshuttles.
Rocketry have lots of goodies. Scuds, V-1, V-2, early straight jets P-80, P-59 Airacomet, FJ-1 Fury and such.
I think one talks about 4 generations of jets in avionics.
