Very quick timeline thing, spoilered because, you know, Deus Ex ends up very spoiling. I also took a few minor liberties (giving peach a father, IlLUMAnati instead of IlLUMInati, etc.)

Illumanati: A shadowy group of Koopas, toads and humans. Control most of the world.
Maj8: Originally the Illuminati's way of controlling the Mushroom Kingdom. Broke away.
MKATCO: Formed in reaction to nanite terrorism by the hammer bros, MKATCO is actually a convenient way for the Maj8 to crush rebellions and dissenters.
Mario Pharmaceuticals: Introduced the Nanite and also responsible for nanite plagues and terrorism, playing into the hands of MKATCO.

Sounds nice. One question, though: Is this combination with the good guys from MGS or the bad guys.

FOXHOUND defies "good" and "evil" (and so does MGS. There's so many layers of conspiracy and moral greyness that it's really hard to define it without spoilering the series).

Spoiler Less cop out awnser, but with spoilers :
Okay, so there's really two different groups in the Metal Gear series: Outer Heaven and The Patriots. The Patriots are by far the real villains of the series, but are only directly fought in 2 and 4 (which are outside the timeline I presented). They're basically the American sect of the Philosophers, who take de facto control of the entire American government by the 1990s (Solidus Snake, A Patriot, was in fact president for the first half of the 2000s), which lasted until their destruction in 2014.

The Patriots' main goal is for world peace, but a world peace dictated by them. They believed that the only way to end conflict was to enslave the world in ideological hegemony and suppressing the individual. Their "leaders" were actually four different computer programs, along with Big Boss's former CO Zero. They were extremely manipulate, and rarely if ever did they try to fight the main characters directly. In fact, they duped Solid Snake to fight Outer Heaven 4 different times, under the pretexts that they were the true villains. Once Solid Snake found out their true intentions, however, he jumped ship and started to fight for Outer Heaven.

On the other side of the coin, Outer Heaven continued to exist even after the Zanzibar Land incident, and Big Boss was still alive. He's increasingly become the main character of the series, displacing even Solid Snake in total appearances in the series. Big Boss was actually captured by the Patriots, and Zero put him into a coma until 2014 since Zero refused to kill what he considered was his best friend.

Outer Heaven was led by Revolver Ocelot, a Russian special forces soldier that quickly became inseparable friends. Ocelot too shared the same dreams of Big Boss, but unlike the American he went a lot more covertly with his goals. In the context of the Shadow Moses Incident, he allows himself to play second fiddle to Liquid Snake, who runs the defecting FOXHOUND. (Liquid Snake pretty much has no allegiance to anyone but himself. He claims he wants to recreate Outer Heaven, but his reasoning is simply a personal desire to best his father at his own plan rather than anything else). Ocelot doesn't want Liquid to succeed due to his selfish desires and therefore would just destroy everything he and Big Boss worked for. Therefore, he actually works with the Patriots (Who don't know he still works for Big Boss's legacy) to sabotage the mission by killing key hostages that had the launch codes for REX to remove Liquid's leverage, and did not give Liquid all the information of REX's capabilities. Meanwhile, he sabotages his sabotage with the Patriots by not feeding them correct information, since he also dislikes them.

So where does Gray Mann and the original question fall in? Well, I imagined Gray Mann, much like Liquid Snake, to be a third party in the Patriots vs Outer Heaven conflict. Although being a member of the Philosophers, I'd imagine he only joined it for his own benefit of world domination rather than sharing their ideals. Therefore, I doubt he would be a Patriot. Meanwhile, he sure as hell isn't the anarchists that the Outer Heaven members are. He's a rouge that doesn't particularly like either side.

So, my plan was for Gray to basically take advantage of the Shadow Moses Incident to come on top of both organizations. By secretly backing the operations of FOXHOUND, he ensured that Grey Fox was rebuilt as a much stronger cyborg than he was in the pure MSG timeline (since Gray has a history of robot armies). However, Grey Fox doesn't realize how much more powerful he is with Gray's modifications, and and accidentally maims Solid Snake in the gut after their first fight (grey Fox was actually trying to assist Solid Snake in the operation while posing as his enemy). This leads to a different timeline as such:

Solid Snake presumably dies from his injuries, not accomplishing much in his operation

Ocelot, realizing that Mann entering the scene means Liquid might actually win (especially with the death of Solid Snake), decides to fully go along with Liquid's plan

After 24 hours of no response from the US government (who is still controlled by the Patriots and still thinks Solid Snake is alive after misinformation by Ocelot), REX fires its nuclear weapons at the White House. Solidus Snake (Who was actually the President at the time), Zero, and the mainframes for the Patriot's AIs were all destroyed in the blast, along with the city of DC itself. FOXHOUND then goes underground immediately (bringing REX with them) because they know the US Army will not hold back against them anymore. Mann also reactivates his legacy robot army, to destroy what's left of the Patriots

Ocelot then poisons Liquid Snake, afraid of him going power hungry. Gray sees an opportunity, and almost immediately has his robots murder Ocelot, taking full control of Outer Heaven and FOXHOUND. He then has his robot Spies murder the former vice president and now president, along with the cabinet, taking their places with their disguise abilities.

One of the first acts of the robot president is the creation of the GREYHOUND unit. Little does anyone know, it was simply just a renamed FOXHOUND. Their first task was to hunt the scattered remnants of the Patriots. Over time, as Gray is immortal, his power as the puppet controller of the United States would only increase.

So, now for music!

TF2 (used The Calm rather than the main theme since A. I like it better and B. This deception of TF2 is based more off of MvM than the main game):

Pokémon (Technically from SSBB but whatever :p):

XCOM (The main theme is boring, so using the battle theme instead)

Mass Effect (ME3 surprisingly had my favorite theme of the series, so using that)

Which faction do you want me to use.

FOXHOUND defies "good" and "evil" (and so does MGS. There's so many layers of conspiracy and moral greyness that it's really hard to define it without spoilering the series).]

Ah, now I understand.

They're the music for our factions. Unless you're making a faction with Golden Sun in it, that was pointless :p

Speaking of Double A, when are you going that faction?

Alright, I gave the Sonic/Assassin's Creed Faction a name: Robotniknight's Templar.

Also, for the Quentin Tarantino/William Shakespeare faction. I was thinking the backstory for it would be instead of signing the Magna Carta, King John got assassinated by a group of actors, making Britain violent and Pop Culture Obsessed. One question, though. Were there muskets during Shakespeare's time.

And, I was thinking the backstory for the Poe/Lovecraft faction would be that one of Montressor's descendants became an explorer of the Americas. On his way back to Italy, he came across R'lyeh and found Cthulhu. He and his crew started the Secret Society and once it got back to Italy, they brainwashed and tortured people.

They're all the same zomg conspiracy Maj8. if possible with Toadsworth as leader (I swear that guy is abusing his power)

Sounds good.

Were there muskets during Shakespeare's time.

The first major usage of the Arquebus (The first practical musket) was in Hungary in the late 1400s. Shakespeare died in 1616. You should be fine. (EDIT: Crosspost with Thor)

Also, for your proposed Zelda/40K nation, I could call it "Imperium of Hyrule" The exact timeline of Zelda games is iffy, but I would have the general backstory be that one Princess Zelda goes insane and becomes a tyrannical despot, and uses magic to extend her life. She finally kills Ganondorf once and for all, and over centuries creates a giant empire of Hylians that eventually reaches the stars.

If anyone wants a flag PM me and I will see if I can make a good looking one. (no promises)

If not muskets then arquebuses, at least.

Alright, then. They shall use arquebuses. One last question, what should we call the faction?

Oh, one more thing:

Spoiler :
"I shall repeat thy question, doth he look like a vagrant?!"
"What?"
"Question me one more time!"

I still need feedback for the Poe/Lovecraft faction.

EDIT:

If anyone wants a flag PM me and I will see if I can make a good looking one.

I actually have some flags designed for the factions, I could send them to you, all I need to know is are you making Flag leaderheads for CivIII or regular flags for CivIV?

Dunno much about Civ 3, so i guess it is the civ 4 one, PM me them and we can discuss it.

So, I have created unit classes. Here are the details about them:

  • Settler (builds cities, starter)
  • Worker (terraforms, starter)
  • Defense (starter, defensive)
  • Offense (starter, offensive)
  • Light Infantry (faster, cheaper, weaker)
  • Regular Infantry (all around)
  • Heavy Infantry (stronger, more expensive, slower)
  • Scout (exploration)
  • Striker (has bombard)
  • Sniper (upgraded striker)
  • Blitzer (has blitz)
  • Marine (amphibious)
  • Spy (invisible, can detect invisible)
  • Stealth Attack (has stealth attack)
  • Assassin (invisible, hidden nationality, stealth attack, can detect invisible, expensive)
  • Slaver (enslaves)
  • Controller (has zone of control)
  • Super Weapon (differs between civilizations, buildable during the end)

I'll work on naval and air units later.

Defense (starter, defensive)
Offense (starter, offensive)
Striker (has bombard)
Blitzer (has blitz)
Stealth Attack (has stealth attack)
Controller (has zone of control)
These names are extraordinarily bland.

Alright, I gave the Sonic/Assassin's Creed Faction a name: Robotniknight's Templar.

This name is beautiful. It makes my armpits explode with joy! :)

I suggested this for Sonic music, but there's also the nostalgic Eggman theme and the modern Eggman theme (it has been used in Unleashed and Colors as well as its original appearance). The latter one makes for good diplo music, though I confess I'm not as sure how music works in post-Civ 3 games...

I don't include Classic games because no one wants a Sonic 4 while there's plenty of love for Sonic Adventure 3. :mischief:

That doesn't matter.

I think I'll use the modern Eggman theme, I don't want lyrics in the build music.

That is all.

Going to work on some unit ideas, looking at the list. Going to start with Kanto Empire since that seems like it will be the easiest one.

Settler (builds cities, starter): Just the normal settler. I doubt we need UU settlers.
Worker (terraforms, starter): Again, the normal worker is fine.
Defense (starter, defensive): HMG Encampent
Offense (starter, offensive): Banzai Infantry
Light Infantry (faster, cheaper, weaker): Type 025 "Pikachu"
Regular Infantry (all around): Type 038 "Sandpan"
Heavy Infantry (stronger, more expensive, slower): Type 068 "Kairiky"
Scout (exploration): Type 085 "Dodorio"
Striker (has bombard): Type 045 "Ruffresia"
Sniper (upgraded striker): Type 003 "Fushigibana"
Blitzer (has blitz): Type 123 "Sycther"*
Marine (amphibious): Type 009 "Kamex
Spy (invisible, can detect invisible): Type 132 "Metamon"
Stealth Attack (has stealth attack): Type 076 "Golonya"**
Assassin (invisible, hidden nationality, stealth attack, can detect invisible, expensive): Type 094 "Gangar"
Slaver (enslaves): Type 065 "Foodin"
Controller (has zone of control): Type 095 "Iwark"
Super Weapon (differs between civilizations, buildable during the end): Type 150 "Mewtwo"

*Scyther's Japanese name is literally "Strike". This would be one of the few times I would therefore advocate using the English name.
**There's really no stealthy Gen I Pokémon besides Gengar. I guess, lorewise, Golem does stealth attacks by pretending it is a giant boulder and ambushing soldiers when they get too close

Also, for the bombard/snipers, if it isn't obvious, I was intending on Venusaur/Vileplume to bombard with their poisonous gases. Would be much more effective against organic units than normal bombards, but useless against mechanical infantry and vehicles.

So, I have created unit classes. Here are the details about them:

<snippety snip>

I'll work on naval and air units later.

  • Settler (builds cities, starter) - Operative
  • Worker (terraforms, starter) - Toad
  • Defense (starter, defensive) - Dry Bones
  • Offense (starter, offensive) - MKATCO hammer bros
  • Light Infantry (faster, cheaper, weaker) - Goombas
  • Regular Infantry (all around) - Koopas
  • Heavy Infantry (stronger, more expensive, slower) - MKATCO Fire bros
  • Scout (exploration) Wigglerpacabra
  • Striker (has bombard) Piranha Plant
  • Sniper (upgraded striker) - Grey Toad
  • Blitzer (has blitz) - MKATCO Boomerangers
  • Marine (amphibious) - World 5 MKATCO
  • Spy (invisible, can detect invisible) - Freeplumber
  • Stealth Attack (has stealth attack) - Sleeper Agent
  • Assassin (invisible, hidden nationality, stealth attack, can detect invisible, expensive) Illumanati Operative
  • Slaver (enslaves) Toad in Black
  • Controller (has zone of control) - Maj8 Operative
  • Super Weapon (differs between civilizations, buildable during the end) - Bowser-Aquinas
thar we go, as cheesy as it gets
