[R&F] Rise and Fall General Discussion Thread

@Schug2K By the way, telling us that the First Look is delayed and why; this is good communication. Thank you.

Yeah, you can see in Quill's stream - he's in a dark age, but given that there's nobody near him, he has no loyalty issues. Maybe just throwing in -25% science/culture/faith? Or give each city something like -2 amenities?

Just don't play on small maps

Yeah, + i think they need to make Dark Age policies mandatory. It is weird that you can disregard them altogether.
Dark ages do not seem quite dark.

Brazil's new UD Water Park replacement - Copacabana:

Spoiler :

Not seeing the point of the Copacabana addition. It's just a copy n' paste of the Street Carnival. On the surface it makes Brazil look unique by having two UI, but it's purely superficial. I'd get it if the Entertainment Complex and the Water Park were identical already, but haven't we heard this isn't the case?

It will replace the water park, and since the water park is just the amusement park only on water, it would be odd to have Brazil's UD only replace one of them.

The Water Park is essentially a variation on the Entertainment District. The point, then, is so that Brazil doesn't get shafted.

I disagree. The Water Park is still a district of its own, with its own bonuses (I believe Firaxis mentioned it won't be completely identical).

How exactly would Brazil be shafted by this? The Water Park isn't stronger than the Street Carnival.

Hi everyone, because previews are dropping today, we're pushing our teasers and reveals forward by a day. So hang tight until tomorrow when we'll have a sneak peak of the new leader and Wednesday when we'll reveal them. In the meantime, check out the previews!

Interesting the he used “leader” singular but for his object he used the plural pronoun “them” :)

Maybe a Freudian slip or a simple typo; but two leaders this week would make sense.

The only difference is that the water park will have a range of 9 tiles, under every other aspect, they are completely identical, serve the same purposes and since brazil gets a better amenity district, it makes complete sense to me to have that bonus be complete, and not working only on land.

Because it would nerf Street Carnival in a way. Every other civ would have the flexibility afforded by the Water Park, but Brazil would never want to build it over the Street Carnival. So they made Brazil's Water Park unique as well. Not sure how else I can explain this.

It doesn't mean that, "them" is commonly used as a gender-neutral singular pronoun, which makes sense if they don't want to give away the next leader's sex ;). But of course from what's been leaked we can be reasonably certain that all the remaining leaders are male.

Dear people that watched the Live Streams for some time: how does R&F change the game so far? Are the mechanics interesting to play with? How does the AI fare?

The buildings are identical too? If so, that's disappointing.

They are different buildings with presumably the same effect: Ferris Wheel, Aquarium and Swimming Pool (?). The whole purpose of the district is to provide Amenities, so it's not surprising that that is all the buildings do.

It's Aquatic Center, not Swimming Pool.

Brazil is, therefore, the only civ to have two exclusive infrastructures. :p

The fort built by Roman Legions is actually unique, although virtually identical to the generic fort. Therefore, Rome has 2 unique infrastructures too.
