[R&F] Rise and Fall General Discussion Thread

Because it would nerf Street Carnival in a way. Every other civ would have the flexibility afforded by the Water Park, but Brazil would never want to build it over the Street Carnival. So they made Brazil's Water Park unique as well. Not sure how else I can explain this.

 

It doesn't mean that, "them" is commonly used as a gender-neutral singular pronoun, which makes sense if they don't want to give away the next leader's sex . But of course from what's been leaked we can be reasonably certain that all the remaining leaders are male.

 

Dear people that watched the Live Streams for some time: how does R&F change the game so far? Are the mechanics interesting to play with? How does the AI fare?

 

The buildings are identical too? If so, that's disappointing.

 

They are different buildings with presumably the same effect: Ferris Wheel, Aquarium and Swimming Pool (?). The whole purpose of the district is to provide Amenities, so it's not surprising that that is all the buildings do.

 

It's Aquatic Center, not Swimming Pool.

 

Brazil is, therefore, the only civ to have two exclusive infrastructures.

 

The fort built by Roman Legions is actually unique, although virtually identical to the generic fort. Therefore, Rome has 2 unique infrastructures too.

 

In case you are not aware: you cannot build both Entertainment Complex and Water Park in the same city. Basically Copacabana ensures that Brazil doesn’t lose flexibility on amenity district placement in comparison with other civs.

 

In effect, the Water Park is basically just an Entertainment Complex that can only be built on Water, and it's mutually-exclusive with the Entertainment Complex. Since Brazil has a UD replacement for the EC, and a water variant of the EC has been added in addition to it, Brazil therefore gets a water variant of it's UD in addition to it, aka the Copacabana.

 

I really wish that you couldn't see loyalty of cities that you haven't discovered in the settler lense.

I guess I just can't help but find it strange that Firaxis would go to the length of making new district art when they could have just added a note at the end of the Street Carnival that says "These bonuses also apply to Water Parks".

 

Think of it like light pollution. You know something is over there by the "glow", but not what it is.

Or dangerous people keep raiding our lands from there so we avoid that area.

 

Or you can hear drums and see campfire smoke.

So, we're lacking only Kumasi CS, right? If we already didn't knew the three Civs, I'd always like to speculate if the Ashanti Empire gets added or not

And we saw Toronto today. So, interestingly enough, Jerusalem is the last CS standing unspotted (unless it was recently and I missed it) - which I don't think I would have expected when R&F was first revealed.
