Rise and Rule for Civ3:Conquests

I am attempting to build all the improvements and Small Wonders (except those tied to a government that I won't enter). Not every improvement in every city of course, but at least one of every improvement Civ-wide.

As others have commented, the tech pace seems fast. I played a lot of Monarch-level games of DYP and if I beelined to Dynasticism, I usually got there a little after 1000 BC. If I just researched the techs the science advisor suggested, I would be lucky to get there by 10 AD. In DYP, I usually got out of the ancient age somewhere between 500 AD and 1000 AD.

In this game, I am playing at Regent level and letting the science advisor pick my techs. Suprisingly, I got to dynasticism shortly after 1000 BC. I am currently at 10 AD and about to leave the Ancient Age with most optional techs researched. I expected it to go much slower since I am playing at a lower (and presumably slower) level and am not making an effort to speed up tech.

I am relying on the editor to tell me how units and improvements work. Be careful - apparently the League of Nations is a UN-type of Wonder that expires - so you can be in for a suprise game loser if you are not careful. The one thing I have noticed that I don't like is that a Civ-wide culture victory is set at just 50,000 culture points, so I am trying to make sure nobody (including me) gets too big of a culture lead. I want to research the entire tech tree and launch my spaceship (after, of course, launching a few nukes).

Overall, a great mod, just like DYP. I don't think I will ever play standard CivIII again.

In an ideal world, there would be a disadvantage to building a lot of the structures. For example, universities should increase war weariness, and there should be options for more levels of boolean city improvements (like the way you can have only one power plant). Sadly, civ3 cant mod this yet.

k i downloaded it and I have version 1.22 but when i install the stuff to scenarious nothing happens to my conquest game. I then tried to install it to conquests(the mode) then just to the conquests itself and still nothing so ummm what do i have to do to get this mod up and running?

hi evil, try going to "civ-content" section instead of "new game" or whatever it is and look for RaR.

I noticed the various levels of army units which I love. But how does one get the ability to build Army2s, 3s, or 4s? I have had victorious armies and have multiple armies. How does one upgrade to or build higher level armies? Also, my training camp didnt expire once I got the tech "Theory of Warfare." Any thoughts on all of these Army gliches?

Armys 2, 3, and 4 are currently unavailable, pending possible fix of AI use of Armies by Firaxis I presume. While the spreadsheet lists them as available via the techs Leadership, Mass Production and Body Armor, in the Editor they are listed as requiring the tech "Unavailable", and should therefore be orange-shaded in the spreadsheet as is the "Coffee Shipment" unit.

Can I use this mod with the French version of C3C ?

I am almost sure this isn't possible - all the files have different names.Perhaps it would be possible if you rename them all, but thats an insane and near impossible work. There might be a conversion some day, but this is unlikely...so the only way I see for you to play the mod is get the English version of CivIII and Conquests.Sorry!

I would like a 100 x 100 World map for my slowy computer :)

Owen, what do you think if you create Owen's world in 100 x 100 ?

Because 256 x 256 is too much for me :(

Great that this mod is already available to download :D Now I'm waiting only for World Map for this mod.

I'm as happy as a little girl, but I'm a grown man!!!!!!!!!

This is the best mod ever.

Only one thing, I need my extended version. Will there be one?
Please, please, please, can I have one?

There might be one in future, but don't expect it and even more - don't expect it to happen in the near future.I'm not familiar with the construction of an extended version, but I assume it is more than just adding some hundred turns in the scenario screen (if I'm wrong here, my suggestion would be just to add them yourself... ;) ).But if it is more (like altering tech costs etc.), I think it is absolutely necessary to get (relative) stable balanced RaR before this and this will take some time.

You could always increase the base tech cost (Under difficulty tab, I think it is) and increase the turns. Of course, that would affect all the techs the same way, not making some more expensive than others.

There are a couple of others to tweak to make the game longer, but they escape me now.

I'v been playing this on my laptop at work for 2 days. :D This is a great modd and well worth the wait. Let's drink a little cheer  for the team  that put this together and all their hard work. I just finished downloading R & R on my home PC. I just love :worship: "Road Runner Broadband" :worship: . It took me 8 min & 4 sec to download this little file.

Bug - File Not Found Error
"Art\Units\AmericanRifleman\AmericanRifleman.ini

There is no folder by that name nor any file by that name.

Well, you're right :(
I can install it, but as soon as I try to launch it, boom, missing file...
I've looked in the folder, and yes, renaming them appears quite an insane task. So too bad... I was kind of happy about that mod, but hey, that's life :)

Yeehaw! When was the last time you saw the Maya say that! Great job guys!

Gotcha. I guess, for now, increasing the base army's capacity to the original 3 is the best option. Thanks.

No, it turned out that 2/3 with Pentagon is better balanced; early Armies are not insanely overpowered here. Don't think the larger Armies will ever find their way back in; you can only upgradfe Armies in MilAc cities, and the AI will NEVER understand that. And, the MGL -Army is always the small 'Army', and only the human will ever upgrade them.
Btw, be prepared, you will in fact see AI Armies in the field occasionally. Not as much as it should be, but about 1 per game easily. Several Small Wonders autogenerate Armies at a low frequency, and the AI even builds them from time to time; but more important, because the AI loves the slower Marine line, you will in fact find the AI using them (Leatherneck + Tank, e.g.).

Be careful - apparently the League of Nations is a UN-type of Wonder that expires - so you can be in for a suprise game loser if you are not careful.
:D :D :D Especially since the LoN is darn cheap and pretty late in one of the tech tree branches... (Small note: For any reason, the game calls for elections based on the turn the LoN was built; if you finish the UN and no elections take place on the interturn, don't panic; just wait a couple of turns)

Re: Civ-wide culture
Deity AIs hardly exceed 30k, that's why it was reduced.

Re: Tech pace
Differs by a wide margin from game to game. Archipelagos are way slower.
Though admittedly I was a bit surprised to find Greece hitting the Industrial Age at 500BC in a Deity 180x180 WM game
But note the IA ends nearly always at about the same time, regardless when the fisrt Civs enter it. Tech costs explode here; unless you/ the AI has pretty strong and big cities, no way to get them in less then 10+ turns.

Re: Extented version.
Will be available with the next release most likely. We just wanted to see the feedback for the basic version before we aplly the same errors again.

Re: French (German, Spanish,...) version of c3c.
As always, you can play RaR with any version of c3c - but you must have an English language version of Civ3!

Jarrett's RaR version of Kal-el's 180x180 World Map was tested during beta, and the public version can be found here.
