Rise of Mankind 2.8 Feedback and bug reports

I've had No CTDs or Error Msgs. I'm playing 2.8Lite without REV or Vassals. Only thing turned on is Tech Diffusion and Dynamic names. Giant Archipelago or Giant Continents Maps so far. 8 - 10 AI. No ModMods either. Need to give 2.8 a fair run 1st.

I play on a Dual Core e7400 chipset with 8GB of 1066DDR2 ram and a Radeon HD4650 with 512MB of DDR3 ram. OS is Win XP Pro 64bit.

I say this to maybe help those that are having problems to narrow down their possible causes.

Look at the very first post in this thread for details on log files. :)

After building the new Cannery building I was able to build the Artesian Well again.

Trying out 2.8, couple of thoughts:

Wheat is extremely rare. I started a Huge, Temperate, Low Sea lakes map and seem to have NO wheat on the entire map. Noticed this in 2.71 also. Had this happen with Silk also.

Stone is still less available than maybe it should.

Each time I try to unzip either version it says some files are corrupted. I use uTorrent and then 7zip, anybody have any ideas on how to solve the problem?

...try to open it when it is loaded 100%
you might want to load the torrents again if thats not the reason.

I have a whole lot of storms in my present game (2.8, no modmods). That can't be right. Maybe that's why it feels so slow.

How do I turn down their frequency, or turn them off?

Looked at the logs and it does seem to be caused by your windows username containing ä -letter. Don't have any new solutions to this problem at this time but I'll try to figure it out.

Is there anything I can do on my side short of reinstalling windows?

I think there is an option to change the name you use in civ,
the windows-username is default, though.

You might try to change your nick ingame and then have a look.

I just remembered one tip from user who had similar problem. Check this post and try the same (just use your own path instead). Another possibility is to create a new Windows user without those ä -letters. I'll still have to ponder how to actually fix the issue so that users do not need these kinds of solutions...

Just had my first crash in RoM for a looooooong time. And worse, its a repeating crash....
It was 1440 before christ. Not much else to describe it. RoM 2.8 Lite.

It could be coz I'm testing my mods, but I'm not familiar reading the logs so I'll post them and any help would be .... helpfull ;)

BTW : I'm sorry if I accidently included the pincode for my nigerian bankaccount with millions of $$$, and some nude pics of my underwearmodel girlfriend in the RAR, but I was in a rush when i zipped it.

(Ok, that last part was a pretty cheap shot trying to get a lot of people looking at my logs quickly ;))

Yeah, it was the gf part that tipped me off. RoM players don't have time for such frivolous activities... ;)

@Vincentz

First install the RoM2.8Hotfix that I just uploaded. It fixes couple python issues. Second, by looking your logs, it looks like there's some oddities with sounds on your computer so try turning sound off.

I've found a couple of small bugs, but none of them are in any way critical and I can't seem to reproduce them either, so I'm not asking for anything to be done, I'm simply listing them incase it helps.

At the end of one turn I got the message:

"Error in EndPlayerTurn event handler <bound method Revolution.onEndPlayerTurn of
<Revolution.Revolution instance at 0x201E0B98>>"

I had just saved, but when I reloaded and tried again there was no error, but there was a revolution in one of the AI civs.

Also one one turn I got "A spy managed to escape..." and "A spy operating near...has been caught..." both from the same city, so I'm guessing it has something to do with the AI giving its spy the escape artist promotion or something. The only "problem" was that the little red face and arrow that comes up on the map showing where it happened (the escaped one) was pointing at the capital city of my AI neighbour (which I'm guessing is where the spy was returned to), not at my city where the spy escaped from.

Well, glider said that he will be focusing on making RevDCM more compatible with multiplayer mode in his mod's next version while this RevDCM 2.6 which is now in RoM 2.8 was more about getting bunch of other mod components + speed improvements + BULL merged into a single mod. So I think we can expect that RoM 2.9 will have much better support for multiplayer mode. There isn't much that I could do now to improve this situation.

Thanks Zap for your reply. Can't wait for RoM 2.9 already :P hehehehe

The game is telling you it is time to beat those terrorists down

Does anyone else have problems with the "Barbarian World"-setting in the startup sequence?

Whenever I chose it, RoM will enter an eternal loop during map creation. Only option is to kill Civ4 via taskmanager.
If I don't check it, RoM starts up like a charm.
