Rise of Mankind 2.8 Feedback and bug reports

With this you can handle yourself?

I don't understand that comment.

Regardless, the solution is to rename your username, if it has non-English letters, or to change where Civ is installed, if that path has non-English letters in it.

I got that message as well, with the same results. I have no idea what caused it, but if it does not mess with gameplay, I do not see much of a problem (I will still take a look through the LHs to see what might cause it though).

Also, I found two more BULL errors with buildings (spaces in file path); Sun Tzu and the Armorer.

Ok, this one is driving me insane:

No matter how much bombarding force I bring to bear against the enemy, for some reason it never hits the first unit in the city's defenders. and of course that one is the stronger. Having the artillery actually attack works, but the bombard feature...?

That's a feature, read it in one of the RoM hints. Too lazy to hunt it down and retype it here.

Right. Its not a glitch, its a feature. :undecide:

(BTW I thought that might be the answer.)

Hello I have been playing and really enjoying your mod for about 2 weeks now and today when I went and tried to set up a new game I am now having a problem. When I set up a game and everything starts loading the set up stalls and stops about half way through "Map Setup" and doesn't complete. I have checked this with the 2.17 that I had been playing and the newer 2.8 that I just down loaded. I have done a fresh install of everything. I have also checked a few other mods that I have been playing and they start up just fine.

I'm not sure I understand but I will try to see if my answer matches your "question".

You aren't supposed to use "Attack Support" in RevDCM tab. That feature will ruin ranged bombardment. I no longer use attack support because it is 1.) overpowered and 2.) bugged. So leave it off and just use Ranged Bombardment, Active Air Defense, Air Bombardment, Naval Bombardment ( I don't use that one) and you should be fine as far as DCM features go.

I notice the Entertainer's trade mission is now worth significantly more than the trade caravan's, is that intentional? I ask because I think I read that you intended to nerf the trade caravans, and those entertainers weren't worth building IMO in 2.7.

And I really like what you did with universities. I might add a GPP per turn for each tech, rather than a specialist slot, but as big as cities can get I can see why you went with the latter.

I have to agree with os79, that Attack Support is ridiculous. I attacked a city with it on and it seemed each applicable city defender was getting to counter bombard my entire stack (no, I didn't have stace attack on).

Unless it's enabled by default, I don't think that's the problem. I haven't changed any settings and have no idea what you're on about.

I've gone and located the RevDCM menu in the BUG Options (I never touch these). The only one ticked is Ranged Bombardment.

Well, I've got a few suggestions/questions that may end up helping you.

First, if you were playing 2.17 previously, then you'll have to update BtS to 3.19 before playing RoM 2.8, although I suspect this was just a typo and you played 2.71. In that case, ignore this suggestion.

Second, if you decided to play on a larger map size than previously, or a new type of map, then try going back to what you used to play, as far as map size and type go.

Third, it may just be a faulty install. Try reinstalling RoM and see if that fixes things. Be sure to delete your old RoM folder first. (If you installed 2.8 over the 2.71 folder, that might be the cause of your problem also)

If all else fails, then I suggest you add a few more details, such as your basic comp specs, the type/size of map you're trying to play, and anything else that might be relevant.

No idea then.

i hit some of enemy units when I bombard to do collateral damage after destroying the fortification bombardment is done.

I have had this issue on 2.71 and 2.8. For the health event, there is no benefit to the options

option 1 says +1 happiness
option 2 says - 1 happiness
option 3 says -2 happiness

there is no health benefit listed

OOS every time a player attack a unit enemy (AI)

This is a known problem in 2.8 full, the new RevDCM really really broke MP. 2.8 beta has the old RevDCM and works as well as 2.71, I think. We're still playing a modded 2.71 atm. Also notice that we've now got a multiplayer forum in the top. :)

Unit upgrades don't seem to work always. Sometimes I can upgrade a unit, other times I can't. I have the money and resources. In my current game I just upgraded some catapults to cannons, while other catapults don't show the upgrade_to_cannon button at the bottom of the screen. That's on the same continent, in cities and with access to the same resources. And with 2000+ gold.

Am I missing some other prerequisite for upgrading?

IIRC, for units that require a building before they can be trained, such as the Siege Weapon Workshop for catapults/trebs, and the Cannon Forge for cannons, they can only be upgraded in a city that has the appropriate building.

Greetings, good people of CivFanatics! This is my first post, so, please, bear with me. Frist of all, major thx to zappara for kicking things in to action with RoM. That mod is awesomness in motion, i'm in on it since v 2.5. But, i just can't get 2.8 to run!
My Civ is 3.19, i'm running on russian WinXP. RoM 2.71 runs just fine, but when i installed 2.8 (after removing 2.71, ofcourse) ,in main menu- civpedia is not active, and when i start the game there's, like, just units and map without any menus at all. I tried everything posted in FAQ, mind you, still nothing. Please, dudes, i'll gnaw my arms off, if i don't get on with version 2.8 soon!!! SOS!
