RNES10: Board NES Simplicity

still need orders from TerrisH, Erez and ThomAnder, have orders from everyone else.
 
i have orders from everyone (actualy looking at the times i got them, i had them last night), a little bit busy here right now (at work) so i'll do the update in a little bit... plus one of the orders had a little error in it that i didnt notice when i first read them, have sent a PM to that person to ask for a clarification, hopefully he'll come online before i finish the rest of the update...
 
ok, these updates are even easier to do then i had expected (though this may change when you guys get into the 20 armies each sizes, but not by much)
anyway, its unlikely warman will get online within the next few hours, the last time he made a post before 3pm my time (ie 4 hours from now) is like august 22 or something, and most of his posts are much later then that. so i'm not gonna wait, sorry warman, besides the only thing you could have done differently (to try to gain another area) would have just lost you an army (i ran the battle "in theory", lol)

In the north, we have our first elimination... i was hoping it would take longer then this, but after the unlucky first turn, TerrisH decided that a 1 out of 32 chance at turning the tide was worth it (that was your chance of winning a 1 on 2 fight btw).
Buxton also saw a battle, and here it was Disenfrancised's turn at the bad luck. Erez takes the battle, and the area.

In the south, i'm not sure if you all coordinated this, or if its just random luck, but no two of you sent any armies to same place. amazing if it wasnt coordinated (talk about lucky draw), and even more amazing if it was coordinated (no one backstabbed?? :wow: )

yet again, all of you have more money then you can spend, this will continue to be true untill you stop aquiring new territories and start aquiring large army reserves.

while i REALY dislike adding rules in the middle of the game, i gotta add this before its needed (it maybe needed this coming turn).

More then two sides to a battle make for VERY much blood
If 3 or more nations have armies in the same area, the "defending" side (the one who controls the area) is considered to be fighting all the other sides at the start. so all "attackers" hits kill an army of the defender. once there are no defenders left, the "Attacker" with the most armies left becomes the "defender" and fights against all the other attackers (ties for biggest are decided by random number).

so for example:
country A holds Wroxetar
Country B holds Warwick
Country C holds Sloucester
Country D holds Hereford

A, B and C all attack Hereford (might be they're allied, might be they all want it).
first, A,B,C's armies are basicaly combined in fighting the Defender D's armies. All hits scored by A,B and C kill an army of D's (not eachothers). D's Hits are split evenly between A, B and C's armies. (if it doesnt divide well, extra hits kill armies of whoever scored most hits on D, cause that was bloodiest fight D was in, ties past that i'll just pick randomly)
for an allience, A,B and C dont hit eachother cause they're allied against D. for just coincidence situation, this is cause they are each attacking from their own front, and D has to defend against each front seperately
after all of D's armies are dead. The one who has the most armies left of A, B and C becomes the new "defender" (declares he has control of the area) and the other two start attacking him as if they're allied.

[end of rule, start of reason for making it this way]
this is a little complicated, but its the only way i can come up to do two things:
1. make a reasonable yet easy to decide resolution to a multi front battle. cause asking you all to declare which "side" you're on wont work, the defender will never know how many people are about to attack him... and you cant guide me as to "who you shoot at" cause your one army might survive killing 5 armies of one enemy and have to decide who to shoot at after that, and you never expected it to go that far.

2. i wanted to discourage you all from amounting huge armies that sit there looking at eachother across a peacefull border. its boring. thats why i didnt make it a "attackers fight it out before fighting defender" rule.

3. i also didnt want an allience of two small nations to be able to take out a nation almost as big as them two combined. so the "cooperation" between nations had to be limited.

4. once you all have your areas controled, all you'll have to do is throw armies at eachother, so i wanted to make it as bloody as possible.

got Erik's. 2 left. and for both of them the "last activity" on cfc was this morning. so no excuse at all for not sending orders... but we wait.
 
now just waiting for ThomAnder's orders... i've sent him a PM, an Email, a MSN Messenger message, and i marked AIM to alert me when he logs on. basic barrage of "send your orders".

i got Disenfrancised's orders at 7:06pm yesterday, so if i dont get ThomAnder's orders by 7:06pm today, i'm doing the update without them.
so rejoice, the update will be posted this evening at latest, but hopefully earlier (when i get the last orders).
 
Update 3
Battles:
Silchester and Durham were both conquered without any resistance.
Middlesex - Erik's two armies killed one army, but got wiped out for it.
Norfolk - a 1 on one, Thomander's army came out on top.
Buxton/Manchester - 2 of Erez's armies met one of Disenfrancised's on the border, each side lost one army. Erez's second army continued to Manchester, where it was met by a defending army. The one on one batle turned to Disenfrancised's favor.
