Rnes8: Run for President

Roddy, as an alternative to a "coalition", two of us can nominate each other as VP candidates, then have a debate and wager all our votes. So there. :p

And please don't tell everyone how to fight me. Making up a new rule to stop me winning early was bad enough, pointing out that I'm winning is okay, but informing everyone just what tactic to use against me is (IMO) ridiculous behavior from the mod.

Edit: Sending orders now... hoping I can pull in enough small states to give me over 230 votes this turn. Seeing how California and Texas are about to go bye-bye, I'm spending 1 hour in each and log some votes for later.

I agree with Erik; give the man a break... not like he can hold on to those states anyway. It's obvious how we're going to get 'at im!! :)

mercenary proverb: "the enemy of my enemy is still probably my enemy" I think it'd be a ton of fun to assasinate the Pres. if you're the VP. *smile*
that said maybe I'll go read the rules now so I have a shot at winning

okiez I read them but I'm too lazy to implement them into my orders for Monday... hey ModRoddy Rabb and the Fasci leader wants to debate. Would you flip the coin and write up something creative please? It'd be so fun! ^_^
oh and Captain, you need to put up a potch; I'll match anything of course

erik, i know what i did is way out of the realm of "unbiased mod", unfortunately, from the orders i've been recieving i know that the biggest reason for your and warmans lead over everyone else is that the rest either didnt read, or didnt quite understand the rules (or atleast how to use them). and trying to knock some sense into them is impossible without a "real life" example.
its not that i'm against you winning the game, i just dont want the game to be won before more then 2 or 3 people have understood how to play it.
i like the rules for this game enough that if it does end soon, i'll start a new incarnation of it (have never repeated a game rule set yet, so this is wierd for me), and i'd like this one to get far enough to atleast show a few good examples of "DOs and DONTs"

Bloody USB disk f'ed my orders and my careful analysis; oh well, I suppose you have a fighting chance now. I'm off to keep California and Texas, have fun fighting over the other states.
*has sent orders*
*grumbles*

well, here's the first delayed update.
while doing the update i screwed up, and basicaly have to restart doing it from scratch, by closing the spreadsheet without saving and getting the old saved version back, cause backtracking what i just did wont work (wont let me "undo" for some reason.
and since i'll never get it done before i have ot leave, i'm gonna have to do it tomorow. so update postponed to tomorow (morningish hopefully)

sorry all.

edit: hope the couple of you that aint send orders use this opportunity to send em.

Aww c'mon, we had a fighting chance anyway. Texas is mine you see. :-)

Okiez a few things of note:

1) I believe Arkansas is my state but for some reason no dodger blue.

2!) RoddyVR, we got a debate between the Fasci party and Harm Rabb - c'mon c'mon we've been waiting for more then an update. Captain hasn't been around so just gamble a sizeable state for a sizeable state m'kay? I can gamble a few more votes if that's what it takes.

i've been around i just havent had anything to talk about, NY good enough?

Uh... update today, or are we skipping monday and heading directly for the wednesday update?

1. if you've ever spent any time campaigning in Arkensas, then i must have missed and put that order into the spreadsheet as Arizona. i delete the old PMs when i get new orders, so i cant check, but if that's what happened, i'm sorry to say that you should have complained in the update that it (didnt) happened.

2. as soon as both of your PMs include the same conditions for the debate, i'll do it. untill then, its all trash talk and mudslinging between you two on the thread. ;)
i suggest one of you write up the conditions, PM them to the other, and if the other agrees to the conditions, then he'll copy/paste them into his orders as well.
again, the same conditions have to be in both PMed Orders for me to do the coin flip(s)

EDIT: and yes, as post 125 sais, update is today.

@Toteone: Since when "is" Texas yours? I completely pwn you and you can't out-campaign me unless you call in an ally to help. You campaign 1st, I campaign 2nd, you gain 12 votes, I gain 6, and I'm still ahead by two.

@Roddy: Here's a question marking my level of mucnhkinism: Would it be possible for me to run two campaigns (e.g. one for me and one for my VP, or one for my party) in the same state, so that I can get both the 30% bonus and the 15% bonus while denying these to anyone else? I realize that this would take sick amounts of money, but hey, it's not like I can spend it on anything else.
(subtext: I want to increase my vote share in California by 45% so that I don't have to spend my time there. :p)

when i started teh game i was actualy thinking of doing it sort of that way, but then realized that it would be considerably harder to keep track of becasue i would basicaly have to double the number of "slots" players can be in in each state to allow for one player to have both first and second place.

God damnit! I spend 10 effing hours in California and I still don't get it! *cries*
you gained 18 "votes" (12 for time first place, and 6 for cash second place) and erik gained 23 (6 for time second place, and 17 for cash first place)
cosidering how many votes you both have in the state, the cash battle is now heavier then the time battle. (because 30% of your votes for first place cash is now more then the 12 for first place time)
for your 10 hours, you got what you wanted, you got 1st place for time spent in the state for the turn. that's the most you can get for it.
unlike in the NESes with armies conquering the world, in this one, winning a state from someone (especialy when he's fighting you for it) is not a one turn thing.

in states where there are less voters who've decided who to vote for, the time battle is heavier.

Hey I'd vote for you Panda

hey, this gives me a GREAT idea.
for the next incarnation of the game.

something like "if a cfc poster comes into the game and sais "i vote for X candidate in X state" then the player gets a extra free vote in that state.
used to get nesers to encourage other cfcers to check out the nes forum.

First of all Erik, me and Insane Panda making compromises wouldn't necessarily mean 'good things' just because a mix. of Harm Rabb and the Federalists would be quite close to your stance, well actually it wouldn't but maybe my centrist views and his IRL views.

Hmmm, well it still doesn't mean you're right necessarily just because it's your views and make sense to you.

Now to your recent comment, I think it was a smoke screen. Or was it? Jeeeze, I think I spent too many hours campaigning in Texas. Oh doldrums... Anyho, want to ensure your campaign victory by gambling Texas for my Florida and Ohio? In the meantime I'll gamble Arizona vrs. New York 'gainst the nazis.

Aaah Erik, you may very well win but you may be too vain in relation to your skillz. Sooooo, the glove, gettamox, iron thing, gauntlet has been thrown! I challenge you to an honorable duel of ultimate victory or else I shall spend the rest of my campaign sabotaging yours (no offence, just a way to blackmail. Might be counterproductive but there it is.)!

MY entire strategy is based on zipping aimlessly around then winning four+ debates in a row... :) so I'm not all that awed by being outcampaigned. Congratulations btw.! =^_^= *bows* And I'm dang proud, well a little.

now for the challenge?
