Yes I know this has been a old debate and I just thought why don't we bring it up again but with some changes.

Let's say in a AU the Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty had meet in the Middle East and colided with eachother and are able to supply their armys and still be at their most powerful. What would happen if they meet? Would Rome try to conquer the Han? Or would the Romans and the Han get along?

I found this thread a while a long time ago

I just thought I would revive this debate.

If aliens had fought Alexander the Great at Persiamanland would Master Chief have beaten the Combine!11?1

You know, it turns out Teeninvestor got in repeated trouble on Wikipedia for making articles about these dumb topics. If Wikipedia's English-language history editors think you're over the top, I mean, damn son.

I remember him! That's awesome.

Oh, and we all know that the Aztecs would beat the Spartans.

Honestly, questions like this are better when there's less of an attempt to provide objective ground rules. At least if we were just asked to compare Empires you can think about this through who had a better military, who was better organized, who had better equipment, who had more manpower, etc.

But these rules just make the whole thing confusing. Is China transported to where Parthia is, did it conquer Parthia, etc.? Even then, is there resistance, does Chinaparthia have the resources of Iran or China? There's a lot of other confusing variables to try to put into play for what will still amount to, at best, a very poorly educated guess.

What is up with all these weird answers?

Because the scenario you have set up is entirely ludicrous and would never have even come close to happening in TTL or any TL. As such this thread really has no purpose for existing other than for farming pc.

Could there be some hope for a topic like this if someone came up with plausible army compositions and sizes for both sides and a plausible field of battle?

It's still going to be pure speculation, of course, but the end result might be slightly less speculative if there's reason to believe that one side would be hopelessly outmatched. Probably takes way too much research, though, if it could be done at all.

I remember way back when yonder when I would snipe threads like this and people would tell me to get a sense of humor and stop being so deadpan.

My work here is done.

Moderator Action: This is a debate that really didn't need to be revived, as the responses indicate. If you want to ask alt-hist questions you need to provide a sensible and well described scenario to discuss, not an impossible fantasy. Thread closed.
