RPC, The Next Generation: Dr. Livingston Discovers Aztec Inbreeding.

Nice job recovering, in your screenshots i see you building research after currency, since you have mainly research multipliers, this is suboptimal, you should have built wealth as soon as possible, minor issue as it didn't effect you much, and don't be afraid to keep building wealth in a few cities if you need to, it will help with your research

You have stone, so I would build chicken pizza for failure gold only (stop at one turn from completion) the stone will give you a more favorable hammer-gold ratio than building wealth (getting a 100% boost on your hammers - gold, which is huge considering at this point your commerce-research conversion is probably only boosted by 25% in most cities) Also on maps with tons of AI's, selling old tech for cash is something you should be doing allllll game, there are games where I have run a 100% slider 80-90% of the time after researching currency because of this(immortal/deity).

I don't have a problem with Chicken Pizza here. Given the large number of Aztec cities Mad will eventually have to protect from the Aztecs, and the fact that it will be difficult to figure out exactly which Monty has declared war and is coming from what direction, this might be a game where it will come in handy.

I like construction as well. Cats, jags, longbows and alters are a good way to grab and keep a few more cities if you're up for it.

Interesting question on the Liberalism issue. Since the thick woods seems to be holding back global research (as does the lack of research friendly leader traits and UBs), you could probably make a really solid run at using liberalism to give you a highly useful war tech. At the very least, you should probably get Nationalism from it.

Where does Mad build research after currency? I don't see it in the screenshots. Anyways, Mad, Chichen Itza has to be Mayan. I mean it's one of Pacal's city names for crying out loud. :D

This game is certainly whacky. Good job so far.

Playe dhte next segment and all I can say is "Interesting".

I need a break before I post it, I swear this is the LAST time I play this type game (OK, until the next time).

Dr. Livingston: Stupid Aztec Armies

I followed the strategy outlined in the previous post to boost defenses, build CG longbows, and build the Chichen Itza. Boy I am glad as you will see.

Techpath went: Construction/Theocracy/Civil Service/start Machinery.

And soon into the segment we get this

LivE0000.jpg

Monty, what a jerk. And speaking of the Devil

LivE0001.jpg

Fine, bring it on feather man! We are ready!

At first it was hard finding when all these Aztecs are coming from as I really wanted to avoid attaching those Monty's we are not at war with. I did manage to find where the first attack came to

LivE0002.jpg

Looking to get the Great wall huh guys! Our defenses on the hill with a wall was superb. And we actually also got a random event Golden Age!

The Great wall helped us to get a Great general

LivE0003.jpg

Which we settled in the higest production city.

Our defenses were strong but seeing some stacks I decided to whip out the Chichen Itza

LivE0005.jpg

LivE0007.jpg

Which was one of the best times I ever built this thing.

Meanwhile we found more and more Monty's screaming for our head

LivE0006.jpg

LivE0008.jpg

This time some Monty's came towards the capital, I guees looking to capture the Chichen Itza themselves. Once again our defenses held

We popped another Great Person

LivE0009.jpg

Which we used to continue the Golden Age

We finished Theology and changed civics

LivE0010.jpg

And frankly I do not see us changing out of these for a good long while.

Once we swapped civics some of the Monty clan decided to accept peace and we made a tidy profit

LivE0011.jpg

LivE0012.jpg

We also found one Monty willing to still trade with us

LivE0013.jpg

Sweet deal.

By the way I have NOT sent off any troops because frankly I just do not know who the hell is attacking us.

Another Aztec peace treaty

LivE0014.jpg

Leaving the world diplomacy situation

LivE0015.jpg

Rather peaceful for an Aztec family reunion, but that will change shortly.

And given that Fuedalism is becoming fairly common, we made a few additional trades

LivE0016.jpg

LivE0017.jpg

And the final Monty we are war with decides to accept peace

LivE0018.jpg

And while I have been amassing a very large defensive force in each city considering there is really no border we can trust, I still managed a sizeable force in the south

LivE0019.jpg

I saved it here, wanting to think things over before I initiate a war with my blue neighbor Monty.

And some Monty's are not toal buffoons as they are teching pretty well

LivE0020.jpg

However, Aztecs are Aztecs and another major dogpile has occurred.

LivE0021.jpg

Glad it is NOT us.

Our cities are doing well although we seriously need more of them

LivE0022.jpg

:trouble:

And finally demographics

LivE0023.jpg

Number 6 in GNP yet tops in soldiers. I LIKE THAT!!!!!!!

So I am looking at machinery for crossbows and maces, then perhaps engineering/guilds before we go after liberalism.

Just beat everyone in a pulp, that should do it. That's what you're planning to do anyway.
Apparently there's a method to Monty's madness. You could have fooled me.

I'd go with machinery, then guilds. Use guilds to trade for Engineering, then go Paper->Education, from there I think it'd be worth a shot to go for Steel with Lib.

Dr. Livingston: The FIRST Vassal!

A rather short segment as I am busy this week and do not anticipate another segment for s week or so.

We started by declaring war on Monty, no not Monty but Monty

LivF0000.jpg

See what I mean!

As we send out army of death looking for Aztecs to sacrifice on our alters we make trade with the Aztecs

LivF0001.jpg

We concentrated on sending our army to the west, and took the strongest city

LivF0002.jpg

Monty was already a beaten dog and offered little defense, so we quickly finished the last 2 western cities

LivF0003.jpg

And

LivF0004.jpg

Which get's us our FIRST coastal city!

The choices now are to hunt down the last 2 Aztec cities before we attack Aztecia, or to vassal Monty before and using him as somewhat of a human shield against future wars against Monty. We opt for

LivF0005.jpg

Frankly I always like having Monty as a vassal

Arround this time The AP vote comes around and the candidates are

LivF0006.jpg

I voted for Monty, for the diplo points! And of course there is no surprize as Monty wins the election

LivF0007.jpg

I moved our new stack of Aztec warrior towards that lone red MOnty city

LivF0008.jpg

Then thought better about it. Just not worth it. We kept teching along with the techpath of

MAchinery/Literature/Engineering/Paper/Education (partly)

WE popped a Great Scientist

LivF0009.jpg

Whichw e used to bulb part of education and make a run at liberalism

We moved our eager Aztec army who are getting somewhat impatient for new Alter sacrifices (and fearing the military will be the next victums) and stopped here just before attacking.

LivF0010.jpg

We saved here as I feel we could use a few more maces and I think some pikes in this stack because once I start the war I expect to continue it until MOnty is dead or vassaled.

I saved here. Looking at our cities

LivF0011.jpg

Yeah I am still a fan of as much defense as I can get. Castles everywhere, and the trade route will help.

Techs

LivF0012.jpg

Looks like a few of the Aztec hillbillies are somewhat tech savy. I think it's time to hit liberalsim ASAP.

and the map showing Greyish Monty, our next victum.

LivF0013.jpg

Which happens to be this Monty

LivF0014.jpg

I know by finding the Monty with the city of Delhi!

SO we tech towards Liberalism and take out Grey Monty next!

That look on his face. hahahahaha. Well played Mad, LibNat->Gunpowder, massive drafting. The immense amounts of food often around on Arboria maps.

I'm wondering if you could afford a quick dip into grabbing Guilds to beef up your fleets of Horse Archers, though going Lib=Nationalism->Gunpowder->Military Tradition wouldn't be a bad move, either. All I'm saying is that your mounted units (A big pat of your army), even if they don't already look old, are gonna get real obsolete real fast.

Weee all these montys :) Fun to have 4 attacking you and you have no idea which colours are attacking you. Nice hanging in there.
Your on your way to victory tho so keep it up!

and the map showing Greyish Monty, our next victum.

Which happens to be this Monty

I know by finding the Monty with the city of Delhi!

SO we tech towards Liberalism and take out Grey Monty next!

You already killed (light) grey monty, it's TEAL monty on your western border ;-)

Nice trick about the city names, better trade some maps soon or go spying, to better plan the playing out of this madness!

Very nice round, it's almost in the bag.

Dr. Livingston: Another Aztec Vassal

Ah, a week off and I decided to fire up this RPC! We were Immediately reminded what this game is about

LivG0000.jpg

Of we rejected this, and the numerous other demands we receid later on. In fact, Livingston is fed up with these moronic Aztecs and can't wait to start knocking heads. But first we researched a bit and built a few pikes for support to our stack

We found one Monty willing to make a trade

LivG0001.jpg

Which helped us along our way towards Liberalism. Speaking of which, our tech path

Education/Liberalism/gunpowder/start printing press.

We found a good use for our Vassal Monty

LivG0002.jpg

Letting see what the world has in store for us

LivG0003.jpg

Looks like there are two Monty's to our west, with our mortal enemy immediately to the west.

We made another trade

LivG0004.jpg

And soon we nab

LivG0006.jpg

With philosophy we immediately started on liberalism although a few Monty's already have education.

Now is the time to move against Teal Monty

LivG0008.jpg

Our stack storms across the land to capture the nearest city

LivG0009.jpg

Here we healed up, got reinforcements (we now have access to Jumbos), repeled numerous counterattacks, AND

LivG0010.jpg

Unleashed a new assault on Monty!

However, do not underestimate us, for we are still willing to trade with Monty

LivG0011.jpg

After this trade we teched to liberalism, missing being first to it by ONE turn! Still it has alot of uses like

LivG0012.jpg

AND

LivG0013.jpg

It is very nice to be warring as an agressive leader with thepiritual trait!

We finally captured Monty's capital (man middle age warare is slow!)

LivG0014.jpg

Which provided a nice haul.

LivG0015.jpg

Some settled Great People/Generals and Stonehenge! Unfortunately the fool Aztec still is not willing to capitulate, so we decide to continue the assault as Monty's defensive will seams to have been broken.

Here we took Delhi using a strong Jumbo army

LivG0016.jpg

And found another use for liberalism

LivG0017.jpg

Getting another coastal city

LivG0018.jpg

And Monty final capitulates, bringing another of the Aztec clan into the fold.

And yet another liberalism trade

LivG0020.jpg

Hey, it's trade bait later on!

And we saved here, looking at the next Monty between us and the western sea

LivG0021.jpg

Who happens to be

LivG0022.jpg

I forsee a fast anf furious war next segment followed by some teching and building up. Right now we have the strongest army on the continent.

A glimpse of the most significant techers

LivG0023.jpg

We almost have Printing Press, so I think Replaceable Parts and rifling are next. After that perhaps cavalry and see what damage can be done!

The Aztec family protrait

LivG0024.jpg

No one in the family likes us, but that's OK. They will be part of us soon enough.

And lastly, demographics

LivG0025.jpg

I always like being tops in soldiers, time to put that to good work!

This thread is kinda silent which is odd as it's quite a bit of fun, maybe it's because it's hard to see what's going on. I still like to read this tho, but giving advice is kinda hard with all these montys :D

I am enjoying it also as I have a much better idea of what's going on than the Sury game.
