Russian Professor Predicts End of U.S.

I definitely find the influences part the most hilarious. For any territory to voluntarily be annexed by another country, there has to be some sort of identification with the country absorbing that territory. Just because the Pacific Coast and the South have citizens that are asian or mexican does not mean they would bow to Moscow, Beijing, Tokyo, or Mexico City. Georgians listening to what Mexicans say? Please. And I'm from Illinois. I have no identification with Canada. We would never allow Ottawa to administer things here.

If Russia's dream would come true in some convoluted scenario, the US would break-up into separate states, not be absorbed by other countries - especially considering we're a union of states. 50 new countries would be created, or at least several republics based under something like the republics of California, Texas, Florida, Illinois, New York, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania.

Panarin argued that Americans are in moral decline, saying their great psychological stress is evident from school shootings, the size of the prison population and the number of gay men.

2010 is much too early for the stuff to happen that this guy thinks will happen. World was supposed to be destroyed on Dec 31, 1999, we were supposed to be at war with Iran 2 years ago already, Oil was supposed to be over $200/barrel, Bush was going to restart the draft and abolish term limits to run for president indefinitely, blah blah blah.

America will end at some point, whether it be 10 years or 10000 years from now. So there will always be people 'predicting' the US will end, but when they are wrong (when they actually give a 'timetable' and aren't vague like 'sometime in the future'), nobody cares and forgets about them. But when someone is so rarely correct, OH BOY, the man is a GENIUS!

I say if we do go out, we should go out with a bang. AKA launch all nukes.

Yeah that's what got me. Even if we broke up, there's no way the West Coast would be controlled by China, the Midwest by Canada, the East Coast by the EU. That's just crazy.

A Texas Illuminatus predicts that in 2010, a Russian professor will drink too much vodka and get too little sex.

The Texas Republic being influenced by or even under the control of Mexico is a particularly hilarious scenario.

Yeah, I was about to say it'd be the other way around.

I'm curious, is there a sane Russian?

They all seem like crazy-conspiracy types.

All in all, sounds like the recent posting is a psyop so he could make this message:

Panarin insisted he didn't wish for a U.S. collapse, but he predicted Russia and China would emerge from the economic turmoil stronger and said the two nations should work together, even to create a new currency to replace the U.S. dollar.

The russians seem to be sticking to their old strategy of having no idea whats going on in the world, so just playing it safe and building a couple dozen thousand tanks.

I gotta say, I don't see how even if the US falls apart and California goes to war with Texas (real sorry for you, New Mexico) any american state could swallow being annexed. (I've suddenly got an image in my head of Sarah Palin sitting on the Bering strait with an RPG)

Yeah, the states are basically separate nations who elect their own leaders, and have joined together under one federal government in a common interest of protection, production, and progress.
If anything the US will go Turtledove.

That may have been how it was supposed to be, but since Lincoln that hasn't really been a reality. The Constitution is broken a bit too much for that.

Uh, not for many, many years...
