Santorum launches CUM

What a great idea! Let's give a millionaire even more money for free!

Trickle-up economics have been all the rage lately! :yeah:

Suppose he did it intentionally? It's generating a lot of publicity--right here in CFC.

The problem is that the idea that "any publicity is good publicity" is BS. As every politician must know. They often have more ads about their opponents than themselves.

Sure and President Bush nearly chocked to death on a Prezel. Free publicity whats not to like ? Oh wait .......

Nope. Disagree there.
Because CFC users are so likely to vote for Santorum...
CFC never won an American election. The candidates are aiming elsewhere. Mostly at the voters sitting on the fence. The image of the straight-laced goody-two-shoes isn't very popular with a lot of people, and doing something outrageous and funny usually works. Hell, look at how Clinton got elected: by jammin' on a sax with Arsenio Hall on national television.

With certain goals in mind it can be true (i.e. Palin doesn't give a damn about her image as long as it gets her money from teh media) but for a politician trying to win an election (i.e. Santorum's case) there is often a lot of bad publicity that turns out badly. Attack ads can, and often do, work for this very reason.

I don't think the acronym was intentional. I think the idea was "conservative moneybomb" interspersed with his UNITE thing. It just came out all wrong. Which is to be expected with santorum.

And yet Michael Dukakis riding around in a tank like a total bad-ass went over like a lead balloon

The thermometer indicates two million dollars is less than one million dollars.

Likely it was intended. When I was working software development, I did that all the time. And with two exceptions, all the funny acronyms I made up for various background processes were adopted as canon by the companies I worked for.

Por ejemplo: an inventory system whose database used standard SCU inventory numbers. The process that updated the database was called the SCU Manager. SCUM for short. :)

Also, Mr. Dictator gets five points for a surprisingly relevant tagline in his signature:
The only rational approach to this world is through the absurd.
That seems to explain Mr. Santorum's gag nicely. :D

There's no link to that page from the front page. And the regular donate link from the front page goes elsewhere. I don't think CUM came from Santorum himself, someone else snuck it in.

Isn't that exactly what I said?

The thermometer indicates two million dollars is less than one million dollars.

It could be a graphical glitch, i.e., the mercury doesn't go past a little less than one million.

But such kind of publicity seems contradictory to his ultra-conservative voter base. They are not the kind to swallow this kind of pun.

See, men of all sorts can find humour in things like this.
