School Courses

When I get home I think I'll take:

-multipahse flow phenomena with heat transfer
-finite element method in heat and flow problems
-Gas dynamics
-Stochastic turbulence

-Law and Society
-Geometry
-Art I
-English Honors

Edit: Last semester I had Pre-IB biology, German II, Pre-IB European history, and P.E.

sounds fun, unforgiven... MechE.?

I am concurrently a high school senior and a non-degree special student at Northwestern University in Evanston, Il. This means that I have a regular high school schedule and that I take random classes at Northwestern (only one or two per semester -- I can register for classes only after every other group of people have already finished registering, so this means only a very small number of classes are open to me)

For High School this year, I have (from first in the day to last in the day)
AP Spanish Language
AP English Composition
AP Chemistry
Math Analysis (I don't know what the name means either)

At "college", I have taken two classes, one being Middle Eastern and Islamic Civilization, the other being European Civilization until the Mid Eighteenth Century. I am currently looking for a third (and perhaps a fourth) one.

This year

Middle-Eastern Civilization
Modern Western Civilization
English 10 AC
Physical Science AC
French 3AC
Algebra 3/4 AC
Photography
Journalism
Beginners Guitar
Drawing Painting & Printmaking

Next year

AP History
AP English
AP Chemistry
AP Chemistry Lab
French 4AC
Analysis
Islamic Studies
School Newspaper

I'm a freshman, what did you expect? Besides, they're all required by the Finance major. That and I'm taking it easy this term...only 13 credits.

I challenge you to a duel. I bet I could win that one...given my size and style. Classes go out the window for me...nobody has ever said I'm a freshman unless I told them so.

En garde! :die:

Don't mind me -- I'm just an engineering snob (see my current class list on the previous page). :)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with 13 credit hours ;) I currently only have 9 (6 500 level hours and 3 400 level)

English III Grammar
Woodshop
Pre-Calculus
P.E.
American History
CAD Drafting (for two hours!)

Don't sweat it. Some jousting over majors can be a good thing.

I wonder how it would work if I truly go to the dark side and start working for a degree in political science.

Wow, so small. I got a five. I thought it was pretty easy, but it's different for everyone. I'm so shocked that only 5 people can be in one class at a time. It's so intimate.

His largest class ever was about ten people. My school only has about 400 people total.

Stupidest schedule ever(weird assortment) I'm a sophmore(if you notice alot of my classes are available to juniors only).
Algebra I
Cisco 1 and 2
Chemistry(haven't had biology yet eather:rolleyes: )
English II
World Civ.
Practical living
Art

AP Calculus 12
Chemistry 12
Engineering 12
English 12
Principles of Mathematics 12

And I'm thinking "AAAAAAAAAHHHH! PROVINCIAL EXAMS!" OK, they're only in June, but they're still evil! Especially the English 12 exam! (Bloody 20 multiple-choice, 1 paragraph and 2 essays in 2.5 hours...)

OTOH, once I get through all that, I get to accept my Cdn$3000 in scholarships at the University of Victoria. :smug: (Mmm... new Bachelor of Software Engineering program...)

I find it interesting that the same course material has different course names, depending on where you are. Especially where it comes to math courses. It seems like a lot of American schools separate algebra, geometry, and trig into 3 different courses (or something like that). Up here in BC, we just roll it all into one and call it Principles of Mathematics. (Of course, there are those people who are demoted to Applications or Essentials of Mathematics, but we don't mention them. ;))

Oral Comm.
World of Lit II
Web Design
Orchestra
Gym
a Study Hall

I've got it *so* damn easy this term. Score.
(I'm in 10th grade, FYI)

I'm taking the same classes all year, unlike some other schools who have half their classes in one semester and the other half in the last semester. My schedule is-

Algebra 2 Honors
Trig Honors
Bio Honors
English 9 Honors
World History 9(there aint a WH9 Honors)
French II Accelerated(no french 2 honors)

That is it. Next year-

AP Calc BC
World History 10 Honors
French 3 Honors
Chem Honors
English 11 Honors
Intro to Programming Honors

@SN, I've taken courses over the summer at MIT in math and science. It lets you skip courses in school. Do you do it to learn history or to get ahead? (I'm guessing the latter) I do it for both ;)

Ha. My room mate was a history major (law school now). Despite my fascination with all things past, I give him a pretty hard time...

If you took the courses this summer, we were about a mile apart, as I was doing the same thing at Harvard. (Except in Political Science and Linguistics, not History)

None of the classes I am taking now (or that I took over the summer) will be good at any college except the one I took them at. No good school in the United States accepts credits from their peers; they all consider themselves better. It's sort of amusing, actually, to see these institutions act like little kids :)

Since I did not apply to Northwestern and I am most likely not going to Harvard (I've applied, but I don't see myself getting in) they will not get me ahead anywhere. I'm doing them entirely for fun.

Hmm, interesting that there is a lot of people taking AP courses that have posted thus far. Must indicate that CFCers are bright or something. Well, I guess you have to rise to a certain degree of Geekness/Nerdness to post on here anyway.

My current courses, Grade 12, Second Semester:

AP Calculus AB
Principles of Math 12
English 12
Apllied Engineering Technology 12
Physics 12

Grade 12, First Semester:

AP Calculus AB
Principles of Math 12
Chemistry 12
Physics 11
Drafting and Design 12

(I should be taking more Provincially Examinable courses, I know, but meh. I didn't plan things out properly in Grade 11 . . .
