September Update Thread

Not one single person I personally know turns them off. What's the point of that? Low end computer or being in a giant hurry?

I used to play with animations, but there's a bug in Windows 7 or Civ VI that causes the leader animations to eat through my computer's memory in no time. The game is unplayable now unless I turn animations off. I wish I knew why. I very much miss having the animations! :(

Anyway, I'm hoping for a patch today. I just finished my latest game and I'm hesitant to start a new one and have the patch ruin it.

I would never start playing Civ if I know I'm in a hurry to do something else.

You have 3 months left for the update to windows 10.

Security patches are gonna stop in january.

Currently also waiting on my next start until the patch drops hoping for thursday :)

I would like to start a new game, but I don't want to risk the patch breaking my save.

You can try small or tiny map and online speed. Chances are, you'll fit in more than one such game between now and the update :)

I'm not deterred by any future patches. Playing Civ 6 is part of my routine, getting an hour in before work and usually playing on my lunch break.

Had a lot of conversations on the topic of leader animations, have we?

I must have turned mine off so long ago that I now assume that Civ VI abandoned them.

Lordy. If I played before work, I would never actually get to work.

I have them off. I'll play with them on a while on leader release then turn them off. I find them repetitive after that. I also skip cutscreens in other games after the first time so it's not Civ specific.

A week later and no updates on the live-stream? Is this looking like another update just under a month after the video to anyone else?

No. Because unlike that time, they haven't been issuing new QA build updates.

Mhrm, there hasnt been a new highlight clip on twitter yet today, and usually they were around 6pm CET (its 7 now)... with the achievements being updated yesterday, maybe patch today...?

I really expect a livestream first. They're going to want to show off that MP mode they hinted at.

Hot take:

New multiplayer is 100% war games and no diplomacy/science/culture. They will install software in the background that records what players do to help programming future AI for better tactics in subsequent patches.

Kinda like the Commander in XCOM 2...

Maybe they just aren't very keen to do livestreaming too close to or on 9/11? Next week more likely?
