SGFN-05: India Stomps the World

uuuhm You are in Russia/North Pole or in Alaska??
My bad! I misremembered your country. For some reason I thought you were Lithuanian. Yes, most of Estland is north of were I live, except perhaps for the southern tip.

We are about same level of "height" on world map. (if your country is GB, Scotland part).

Just I am in east - nothing good has ever come from east (Counting out Far East baths, artificial smell and alot of culture to Europa in Dark ages). Your in West, lots of good things have come from there (competition and fall of soviet union for an example).

Edit: Estland - das ist im Deutsch. - Alles ich sagen kannst. (Prolly typo-ed that too :( ). For most other parts of world I live in Estonia (for Finns I live in Viro).

@Overseer
Your turn?

Yes, I will begin probably tonight, after I review the save. I will see how fast our Aztec war can get rolling with our vast army.

Army itself is quite far, but Core is not so far, with few worker turns core can be boosted by 2-3 shields most cities.

Aztecs are weak, they are using arrows, we got 2x stronger (5hp, 4 off, 3 def) units instead of their 2/1/1 units. Iros have been beating Aztec units that go on offense, but all 'retals' have failed.

I got one more question, pictures that I post, are they ok? Eg You understand what is on pic etc. and not too big for slower connection peoples - mynes just 40 kb/sec (I live in woods, so trade fresh air for slow internet) and work fine... I could get them even smaller size - around 60-80 kb so they'd be readeble (on my computer), that'd take more time, would it be worth?

Fine here. I've been posting very large pictures, just assuming everyone has a broadband connection like I do. I hadn't accounted for you folks in the fresh air (not too much of that here on the east coast of the U.S.). If you would prefer smaller pics from me, I can certainly do that.

Looks like a good set, Northen. We've got just a couple more sets to go in this one, it looks like. Get a 'rax in front of those trebuchets somewhere. We should upgrade them all to cannons with Metalurgy, although I agree with Northen that when the enemy is fighting us with pointy sticks, we don't really need to wait around. Still, we have the gold. Might as well use it and have the cannons reduce a couple of the tougher towns.

I thought I would put up a pic of the famous path to Guimaraes

anaxagoras, your pictures just for me, but I don't like when people post 2-4 mb's big *jpg files.(Then claim they keep them small size, even paint can be used to converent images from bmp to jpg, with 2.4 mbs to 167 kbs)

Edit: Keeping pictures small, can be life saver if you are on weak wifi for an example.

Btw, Rodent you did great job taking out those Greeks, wiping them out was a cakewalk for me.

The power of the War Elephant. I'm about halfway through, all is well, good things happening. I believe that Optional or Anax may be the one to finish this out, things are going so well. The Vikings do have Iron, so I am seeing Pikes and Swords, plus Berserks, but they aren't the primary war....yet. Hopefully I can finish tonight.

I have finally finished my turnset. I think it took so long because there were 4 wars going on, though 1 was very short:evil: There are still 3 wars left, and right now, I see no need for peace. The Vikings dragged everyone left in, giving me the right to annihilate Portugal. I took several cities from each enemy, which I expect will speed up with the next player. There are 21 cities left, 6 Aztec, 6 Iroquois, and 9 Viking. I continued research, but I think it wasn't necessary. However, extra cash isn't of much use when you can't rush with it. Someoe less sentimental than I am could use a bunch to upgrade our veteran and *elite War Elephants and go nuts, which I agree is a good idea. This thing is ready to be won! :king: I recommend razing everything except the Sun Tzu"s, GLight, and Leonardo's towns, we don't need the babysitting duties waiting for settlers and workers to build. Good luck to the next player, and enjoy, this game is in the fun stage. Here is my turnlog:

We will be getting a lot of War Happiness atm, Can we wrap this up while remaining in feudalism?

I think if Optional doesn't win this, Anax will. I think staying Feudal will be fine, since our enemies are hamstrung by lack of resources. I think that the Vikings can still build Iron-based units, but they have no Horses. I think I cut off Aztec and Iroquois access to Iron and Horses, so I think those 2 tribes will fall fast, and the Vikings lost their big offensive punch when I killed 8 Berserks in 1 turn. This game is over, it just is a matter of how fast. My bet is that Optional can do it. Here is the updated roster:

1: TheOverseer714=> just played
2: Optional/Hynestrider=>up
3: Anaxagoras=>on deck
4: Northen Wolf=> warming up
5: Rodent=> waiting
6: ThinkTank=>
7: Jorgo Mono=> Honored lurker

Hit list:
1. Germany> Gone
2. Babylon>Gone
3. Greeks>Gone
4. Aztecs>Targeted War
5. Portuguese>Gone
6. Iroquois>Non-targeted War
7. Vikings>Non-targeted War

Well played, Overseer! More armies are always handy.
It seems a lot of Iroquois and Viking units came towards us; we're more in defense than it has been this game.
Would it be an idea to sign peace with the Vikings, probably tied in with an RoP and alliance against Aztecs? Our units in the east could then go through Viking territory to reach those Aztec towns. I think it would help our war efforts against Aztecs and Iroquois, and perhaps we can RoP the Vikings a bit later.

Is Feudalism the quickest way to finish this, or can we better still do a switch to Monarchy for the cash rush system?

I would prefer not to raze much in the south, as this will just draw in settlers, and our Elephants in the south are busy enough as it is. Razing towns like Athens or so seems more practical; it'll take settlers ages to get there and our units in the north can deal with that.

Do you think we need a RoP? There are only 21 remaining towns. I don't think we need to make any deals at all. Just run roughshod over them.

If we switch to Monarchy will we retain our cash? I don't have CAII. Will our unit support be covered (or close to covered) if we switch? If so, then yes, rushing with the surplus would be great. On the other hand, we still have 52 elephants that can be upgraded to cavalry (minus a few non-star elites), so we have a definite use for a pretty good chunk of change right now.

I think we can finish this in Feudalism and possibly with only a few upgrades. I'd say no need for any deals, peace with Ragnar gives him time to build more Berserks. I think the task force just north of the ashes of Aarhus can burn everything in their path unless it has a wonder. Razing is a must in most cases, we are up to 59% and about 10 cities will cause a Domination victory. I would't worry about settlers, think of them as free slaves. If anyone is dumb enough to try sending them. Build Cavalry, burn enemy cities, in 10-20 turns, we win. Simple.

Optional - I will have some time this weekend, and then it will be harder for me. I don't want to push you, but it would be helpful for me if you could take your set in the next 24 hours or so.

If a swap is better, then we could do that. I would't want anyone to lose their shot at glory.

Perhaps a swap is better. But if for some reason you don't come round to making a start this weekend, Anaxagoras, then please give the game back to me.
The only game advice I would give is: Northen Wolf mentioned an Aztec galley going onto the high seas east of Oporto. I expect an Aztec island out there, so building a caravel seems wise.
Well, two game advices then: I would let our units on the Iroquois front focus on grabbing Salamanca for Sun Tzu. So I would ignore that Iroquois settler pair for now. Maybe fresh troops from the north can do something about it, or maybe Aztecs will.

Okay, the swap is on. Anax, it's all yours. My challenge to you: bring this one home, the tools are there, theres tons of money for upgrades and if we get Sun Tzus's, all towns have barracks. 21 cities fall, and you are the hero. Just keep the wonder cities, burn anything we don't need. Go get 'em!

:banana: We've got the T.E.A.M. :banana:
on the beam and
we're ready to go!!!!

:banana::banana::banana:

I can't wait to see how y'all bring this one home. This has been a great game to watch...:goodjob:
