SGFN-08: Random AWM Succession Game

Here the exact values for Despotism:
Amsterdam is at 67%, Eindhoven already at 90%. So ICS definitely makes sense, because the values won't be that much lower on Monarchy.

How does that change with a FP, though?

Lurker's comment:
That'll get worse at first, with a few more towns being put between Berlin and Amsterdam. Then when the FP finishes in NC5 it'll probably be back at these type of values.
I share Lanzelot's view that your core stretches until Amsterdam.

Good news, my old civ computer has been worked on and may be able to handle my turnset. I will find out for sure tonight. If not, I have it and civassist 2 set up on my new computer to play on a virtual machine. Cool stuff for a tech geek! Anyway, I will try to get it played through by saturday night, so now is the time to set the goals for my turnset.

Goals:

1. Kill the Dutch
2. Build up forces, especially catapults (best to do archers in Berlin at 2 turns and catapults in lesser cities, IMO)
3. More expansion via the settler factory according to dotmap (we're basically using Lanzelot's)
4. Prepare to be invaded by Persian and/or Greek forces. (hence the catapults)

If it looks feasible, I think looking at a good FP spot would be wise.

Remember to keep Utrecht for last to save a settler. The next two settlers from Leipzig should claim the horses as shown in my map.

NC5 will be founded this turn, so we should discuss, where we want the FP: Hamburg or NC5? I'm not sure what's best. (NC5 would need an Aqueduct & Marketplace, before it can start on a reasonably fast FP?!)

Yes, it would-which is why Hamburg is a much better choice.

The question becomes can we spare the production from that city. I think we can, but it'll depend on what the Persians and Greeks eventually show up with.

Just wondering out loud; IF we can put up a blockade at the chokepoint which keeps the Persians and Greeks away, might it be worth it to mount an assault on the Vikings before they start getting berserks? Even taking out one or two coastal cities would be a decent idea, maybe.

CAN you post a link to that dotmap? I can't find it.

I think we're still working off this one for the area north of Amsterdam:

(Probably not pictured: a city on the far western tip, 2SW of where I put Heidelberg the Second).

and this one, with modifications as discussed for a canal city, for the south:

But you're smart, figure it out. :)

I really doubt it matters much either way; puttig it as pictured on the bottom I guess would eventually get it another sea square or something. It's a pretty crappy city regardless.

I would put NC7 where the catapult is in the second pic. ;)

EDIT: I know that we then lose the extra productive desert tile, but we gain horses sooner.

I don't hate that idea one bit, actually. Net loss of one food, but we're on the river, and we need just the one city to get the horses.

If we're looking for tight placement and ICS, we could use the existing places for cities and use the forest space SE of the horses. We'd lose the chop but fit in an additional city and still get the river.

I don't think we should ICS that area: at the moment it's at 67% corruption, so with Monarchy and a Forbidden Palace it could well get into the 50% range, so decently productive.
However, if the majority wants to settle on the plains tile instead of the desert, it's fine with me. The difference should not be that big.

But anyway: Captain, are you taking this turnset? (Or honey-mooning again...? :crazyeye: )

I have it almost done. Busy weekend, spent lots of money. Will post the save soon as I can.

If anyones in a hurry, skip me, the save is trapped in a non-functioning computer. I will need to recreate the save or fix the computer.
