SGFN-08: Random AWM Succession Game

Can you update the roster now, Overseer. ;)

I believe this is correct.
1: Overseer =>Skipped if in a Hurry
2: GamezRule =>Up
3: Lanzelot =>Warming Up
4: Splunge =>Stretching out his warmongering muscles
5: Sparthage
6: DWetzel

Then can some one lead me to the save. ;)

I have it, my computer behaved long enough to grab the save and the turn-log. I will get them posted here in a jif. If I can get the files off the damn flash drive...win7 has gone stupid on me and suddenly doesn't recognize my flash drive.

Overseer, the Windows 7 gods must hate you, cause that has got to be the easiest OS to use. (for me at least, a nerd) ;)

My old civ computer is behaving at this time, so here is my unfinished turn-log, I'll work on it later, but here is the save, I think:

The save:

Looks very good. Progress against the Dutch was slower than expected, but apparently they pop-rushed many units plus Greek & Persian invaders started to arrive steadily, so there's nothing we can do about it...

Two tips for the next player:
  • Science rate can be reduced before ending this turn. There's 12 beakers overrun. (Perhaps you can also play around with a scientist or two in the corrupt towns and try to save another couple of gold?!)
  • Hamburg has shield-overrun next turn but is working an unimproved forest. Switching to a grassland will gain 1g and 1f.
    As a matter of fact, we might even consider letting Hamburg work the grassland permanently until it has grown some more. Should be possible to get Hamburg to 10spt as well. And finally: how about switching Hamburg to FP now? I checked the corruption numbers again, and Monarchy won't turn Leipzig back into a 4-turner, but an FP in Hamburg would! If we let Hamburg grow some more, it can finish the FP in around 20 turns.

Something important happened during the last ten turns: Athens finished the Great Wall! Greece of all nations!! :mad: I think we need to reconsider our plans now.
  • Attack them anyway with lots of catapults and archers, before they have built too many Hoplites? After all Greece is a good site for our future core, and we need to have that "liberated" before the advent of Education.
  • Turn around and invade Scandinavia first? They have iron, so we could produce warriors in Germany, ship them to Scandinavia and upgrade them there. (Can't trade the iron over sea tiles until Astronomy.) Then ship them back and attack Greece with swords and catapults. This plan will be slooow, though. But still better than a "long-distance attack" on Persia.

Plan A needs to be to see if we can block off the chokepoint. If we can, then we can either mount a sea assault on the Vikings, or we can try to mount an amphibious assault on the Greek capital with everything we have and either capture and keep Athens, or raze it so we don't have to worry about the Great Wall.

And yes, I know that taking Athens would be bloody as hell. We don't have a whole lot of options, though.

Got the save, but I have a few questions and I will look at it tomorrow, also, I might be somewhat stalled in playing. (Prom) :D

lurker comment:

You need more cats to reduce your unit losses. As you have no strategic resources available they are even more important than usually and not only for attacking others, as Lanzelot mentioned it.

...or we can try to mount an amphibious assault on the Greek capital with everything we have and either capture and keep Athens, or raze it so we don't have to worry about the Great Wall.
Burn baby burn! Why? I really have worries about the Greeks recapturing it soon after we've taken it.

Just culture alone makes it crazy to keep Athens, unless we keep researching towards Military Tradition and wait til we have cavalry to go after the Greeks. We definitely need more catapults, and we need the choke blocked. Another thing I recommend is a spearman army as our first, because we need the persian iron pillaged. On the offensive, we need to go after the vikings before berserks show up. We need to play defense on our continent, and get the vikings out before they become a threat on the other continent. I like the build warriors and upgrade them there idea, but getting there will be rough. I think we need to research toward getting iron free units such as longbows and crusaders until we get our own iron.

I am behind on math with one week left in the school year, and my credits may be at stake, so I might have a slight delay in playing. [pissed]

Ugh, school. I have to wait until June 25th to get out of school. Stupid snow. (Something tells me that you'll call the amount we got normal, Gamez ;))

How much did you get. (ps: 6 inches of snow at night does not get us a snow day, and in Virginia you people can't drive on snow to save your live {literally} :lol: ) ;)

On May 8th, we got this much snow (I live in the farthest west red part)

Last year, we got about 17 ft of snow, and this year bested it by far. ;)

Remember, the east coast got blasted by snow, they called it Snowmageddon.

HOLY COW!!! THREE FEET OF SNOW IN A WEEK!!! :lmao:

That's quite common where I live, and this year, we ACTUALLY HAD 3 SNOW DAYS IN A ROW. I have seen a foot of snow get us NOTHING!!! :)

EDIT: Snowmageddon was a farce, up here it would be considered an economic stimulus. (Think of the snowplow drivers) ;)

Off Topic: And people complain about the relevance of introductory physics. We at least include some modern (i.e., 100 year old) physics.

Actually, the American college freshman and sophomore math classes have changed dramatically in the last 20 years, as calculators with algebra systems have taken over. It remains to be seen if this is a good thing.
