SGOTM 16 - Kakumeika

Not going to argue the PPP. Looks good. (btw, We have 5 weeks to play 4 1/2 turnsets) Maybe things will flow once we have the critical things like Oracle out of the way.

I was hoping for this, but ...

I didn't put the T64 oracle, one chop before and the other after math micro in it yet. Are you okay with that?

The rest of the team wants the 1T earlier oracle.

I don't vote for that option, but I understand the reason the team is going for the pre-math chop/early Oracle. I don't think it will matter in the long run either way.

Good Luck!

Pillage Danger Tiles

We actually have one vulnerable tile improvement: wheat and later on this will be horses and wheat. I think our fogbusting should focus on these vulnerabilities until WorldCities =22 or until we have chariots, whichever comes first.

I see no optimal ways for one fogbuster to safely protect the wheat unless Adam can simply block the barb's path at Wheat-1SW, but that's non-optimal too, because then the barb would just attack Adam. I suppose if Adam is 25% fortified, he's at least going to have favorable odds against a barb archer.

Or would putting Adam right on the wheat block the path completely?

In any case, there are different sub-optimal options for protecting the wheat. Is 3SW of the wheat is the safest? That's 2S of where Adam is now. I don't know.

We really need two fogbusters here because there are two tiles to prevent the barbs from landing on and teh mountains get in the way. But this won't bevulnerable until right before we can produce chariots, so maybe we don't need to worry about fogbusting it, but we should all be aware of the potential trouble.

I think we will want it fogbusted when our workers are improving the horses.

Hm...I tested barbs pillaging us from 2 tiles away, using UNITAI_ATTACK (which is what naturally spawns in the game) and UNITAI_PILLLAGE, and I can't get them to hed toward our wheat. They just wander off. And the save has 16 worldwide cities.

I'm becoming a little concerned about our lack of Military Technolgy advantage. We should try to set up an Iron Working steal soon, so we should have a Spy ready (5t fortified) to steal Iron Working as soon as our target AI has it. We should also build a backup Spy, in case we lose the first Spy before or during the IW steal.

So, do we divert to Horseback Riding, which we may need to do in case we have _no_ access to Iron. Or, assuming we have Iron, do we divert to Machinery to produce Crossbowmen? If so, we may want to reconsider getting Metal Casting from The Oracle rather than either Code of Laws or Currency. MC with Forges also has slight Happiness cap and production advantages.

Please respond with your comments. We need to make at least some commitment with regard to The Oracle target at least.

We can safely harass Brennus with chariots and archers if we must. However I think it is safe to assume that we have iron somewhere nearby.

Copper could be an island away too.

I see no need to rush into metal casting/machinery or horseback riding. I would much rather found Confu and rush towards sailing/calendar or civil service.

We need holy cities and we need a bit of happiness and we need culture. Founding confu with the Oracle is my vote since it helps all 3 of these goals. We need early temples and monasteries for our legendary cities.

ok, coming in a minute.

Math should be on scedule. I was so happy when I saw that plunder amount. It must be my new system. Good PC, good boy :D.

So many spread out coastal fish, it seems unnatural.

Time to argue about T59-T69! :D

We must pick a tech to Oracle, or at least plan on what to pick. Actually getting the Oracle and picking the tech makes a natural stopping point. Of course, we need to plan the full 10 turns first so that the workers aren't doing silly things.

We can Oracle Code of Laws, Metal Casting, Currency, Aesthetics, Horseback Riding, Monarchy.

We picked Meditation already, so we can't use the Great Scientist for bulbling Machinery after Oracling Metal Casting and researching Aesthetics. If we pick Code of Laws, we might bulb Philosophy I think. Personally, going to Future tech with a cottage capital I'd like an Academy.

I still favor Code of Laws for the reasons listed here, in addition to the small espionage and courthouse possibilities.

We also must debate whether to stop working scientists once we have Math and focus on getting our next settler out. Should slave chop a forest in Paris to speed this up even more, or save the forests for a vital Pyramids that could go to the other continent?

More war with Brennus? We should be able to have Louis see the hilltop 2N of Brennus' capital and maybe the worker moving to improve horses, but we are blind to Brennus improving stone, corn, bronze, or building roads.

Then there is the question of what to research after Math.
Horseback Riding to really mess up Brennus with horse archers?
Fishing->Sailing for trade routes, a chance to spread our religion to Ramesses and maybe get him to friendly, workboats, and The Great Lighthouse?
Currency with 40% research bonus from 2 prereqs?
Civil Service in the hope that we can use the 50% bonus to chop most of Pyramids in Paris?
Poly->Monotheism for 25% bonus to buildings and big relations bonus with Brennus+Ramesses?

Got the save. Will provide a draft PPP as soon as possible (maybe several hours from now).

If we manage to get Code of Laws on T64, we could switch religions and send our 2 garrison warriors to go spawnbust on T64. We should be able to get horses by T72 roughly with the culture from Oracle and Religious capital.

I kind of like Adam where he is. He is making sure a barb city doesn't form and prevent us from settling on wine. It would be another river city with great commerce potential. He is also well placed to kill a barb that wanders by and become another Woody II unit.

Once again, really nice dotmaps :D
