[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Home Slices

Workboat Options
(assuming next turn doesn’t reveal more exploration to the east )

  • Exp wb could net Cows crabs t37 miraculously.
  • Could net Canal crabs T41, allowing the current canal work boat to explore North immediately.
  • Could net Canal crabs T41, allowing the current canal work boat to explore SB East Coast immediately.
  • Could net Silver, allowing Cow wb to explore far NW.

To explore that last island edge, it will take until T38 to net crabs in Cow City.

10 more :food: is very appealing!

I think our best bet would be to send it west past whales.

Canal can scout the north after slavery.

The lack of other AI is dreadful.
No tech partners.
No tech bonus.

Thanks :)

We almost have to take the stone.
That is cheap Pyramids, Moai Statues, Oxford, Kremlin, and 7 stone-type cathedrals.
Lovely fail gold on all other stone wonders.

We can chop a monument, wait 10 turns, improve stone, then try to build Oracle down there at 5:hammers: per turn.
With 2 more chops, that is uhh, 22 turns?
8:culture: per turn will get us that marble eventually.

Canal can just struggle to get Colossus later while Cows build Pyramids which will be our strongest wonder if we really want to do mass pacifism scientists.

**Edit**
Ugh, tundra stone is 1:food: 3:hammers: when improved.
We won't be building crap down there with only 6:food:

Production on this map might be a problem if we have to build 500:hammers: or 800:hammers: wonders later without stone.

Can't really whip kremlin.

I forgot about West Point using stone also.

Spy City has 2 huge 800:hammers: wonders to build (West Point+Kremlin), and I am not seeing high production cities.

Lumber mills are unlocked by the very far away Replaceable Parts.

I'm ok if we want Kait to play out his PPP, but this is a SGotM and that was 10t already. Going 12t more is a little long. How about I take over and make a revised PPP to BW? Keep the rotation going. I may not be able to get that plan out today--even tho it's probably done already. We all should take time to think.

T32 AI Analysis

City Population
T26 4 p2, 2 p1
T27 4 p2, 3 p1 — 7 cities

T30 5 p2, 3 p1 — 8 cities
T31 4 p2, 4 p1 — 1whip (BW)
T32 4 p2, 5 p1 — 9 cities

Food
T32 14f — 13f — 11f — 9f — 4/5f (Hindi) — 4f (SB)

Religion
Hinduism AI is p1 and does not have city #2 yet.

GW instead of Kremlin?

Note for Mining! We get +1bpt if we put 24+ cpt.

Because SB has Mining. Note SB also has The Wheel. He does NOT have Masonry.

True enough. It’s foresighted to make PPPs that run long, but we should keep to the spirit of the SG. 10t is typical after the first turnset or two.

Sure thing. :)

Have fun WT, you're up!

We have 6 out of 7 city spots available now if we wish to plan a little.
There are not many health reources available, so we won't have big cities. :sad:

I think silver and stone are worth settling while we wait for more information to come in.
Settler 6 and 7 can wait for more opportunites overseas or unail whale becomes irresistable.
That means we can continue playing the opening and delaying grand strategy decisions.

I'm sure an AI city with a castle has a much better stone city, but early Mids for us could be a huge boost in tech rate and a chance for a Great Engineer.
I do favor Stone City even though it is pathetic.

I could argue how we can get by without stone which we woulda had to do anyway if we simply were not offered stone.
However, it will be very nice to have it, and what do we really lose? A city (with as much food surplus as Science city btw) will come up short producing a 2nd GP. (Where Science has G.Lib to help) One saving grace is that it will have a decent # of 2f tiles.

Let's see, if we work stone (and let's assume tundraCopper) that's +4 fpt. +8hpt. The food can support a 2-pop or 3-pop whip every 10 turns.
Ok, let's take it.
Now, are we really committing to Oracle? (no Ap.Palace) Could we force a religious victory even without the AP? (beat down the builder of the AP to 1 city, and flip everyone else out of that religion?)

Health
Mids = no HG for +1 health :(
No harbors before Biology.
Grocer: probably missing resources: currently only Wine

2 Handicap
9 from sheep, crab, clam, cow, deer, wheat+2, rice+2
2 Aqueduct
-1 forge
12 total

+ 2 freshwater (only 2 of our cities get this)
14 total

+1 per 2 forests

Missing
corn+2, fish, pig, banana

Post-Sushi
Hospital +3, Harbor +2 or 3
Lab -1

Ya, Wheat is going to take a very long time to come online.
The health post makes me a sad panda.

I hope we don't need optics to meet the rest of the AI.

Oracle Civil Service would be really nice right away.
All the other prophet great wonders take forever to pay.
Culture is useful too
Would be a blow to chop all the forests and not get it though.

Sitting Bull Analysis

tl;dr — Sitting Bull may have very few more land tiles!

T0 7 land tiles
T4 11 land tiles
T32 1? land tiles :eek::eek::eek:
His turf looks like this:

Code:
nn333
n3222u
oo111qu
oooc1qu
ooo11qu
uuqqquu

c=center
o=water
n=neutral land
1=first ring of land tiles
2=second ring land
q=second ring unknown
u=third ring unknown
The point is, only 1 of those 6 q’s is land!

If I had the demo screens for t14-21 (hint hint), I might be able to figure out how many of the u’s are land. Plus I could mostly figure out the land configs for the other AIs.

SB should finish his settler shortly. I wouldn’t be surpised to see him settle toward Canal.

Stone Oracle

If copper in first ring, we don’t need to chop monument and Oracle is ~Phood + 11t, w/o whips.

No copper, ~Phood + 20t, 1 whip.

I will try to have it done in about 5 or 6 hours.

I am encountering the strangest bug.
The Real Game clearly has a bonus from 1 AI we've met knowing Sailing. (We are teching slightly faster in the Real Game than we should :crazyeye:)
I've checked and Sitting Bull does not have Sailing.

Testing with world builder, giving the AI we know Sailing gives us the tech bonus and taking it away from him removes our tech bonus, so it is not a world builder artifact.
Both the real and test game have 156:science: to tech Sailing, so they are both on the same difficulty of emperor.

Here is a screenshot with the Real Game on top and the Test Game on the bottom with nearly identical conditions. (Real Game has 2 extra :science: in Sailing I think)
The Real Game is clearly teching faster.
Spoiler :
Once I give the test game AI that we have met Sailing, the tech bars match.

How are we getting the ~5% bonus to teching Sailing if Sitting Bull does not have Sailing yet? :hmm:
If he had Sailing, he would have formed a city network with us since we explored 1 tile into the borders of his capital.
I don't see the city network symbol on the T26 Real Game screenshot.

**Edit**
Ok, I figured it out. :)
Real Game Sitting Bull did have Sailing on T25, but he never established a city network with us between T25 to T32 because he did not unfog a chain of coastline from his capital into the crab at Cow City.

Mystery solved.
