I would like to be responsible if I sign in, so I have a couple of questions:
1.- What is the timeframe for the whole game?
2.- What should be my time commitment to this game? (I mean, how many days will it take to fulfil its turn to an average player?)
Thank you.

Guess I'll go for it.

1. Noble.
2. Yes, all but the England one.
3. No, no succession games.
4. No, no team preference.

count me in

1) Monarch
2) played GOTM 3-5
3) never
4) put me anywhere it is needed

1. Monarch
2. Yes
3. No
4. No

A question to the map: Are there only those two other civs or are there more? Or is this a secret?

  3. Have you played any succession games or Civ3 SGOTM before?
  4. Do you have a group of players you want to play with?

1. Monarch/Emperor
2. Yes,starting with GOTM 3
3. In the middle of my first now.
4. Looks like the crew from our current SG will be reforming for this - Kikinit, sooo, and Ralph Jackson

This sounds like fun

2. Have you played any Civ4 GOTM games before? Not here.
3. Have you played any succession games or Civ3 SGOTM before? No

1. There is no set timeframe for SGOTM.. it depends how fast the teams play.. when the signup for the next SGOTM starts and your teams is still playing, you know you are one of the last teams to finish... and the game will close soon
I would guess anywhere from 1 to 3 months for this one..

2. This depends a lot on the team (and the game and if in early game or endgame)... some teams discuss so much between turns that most of what has to be done for next player is already laid out - but this means more time is spent discussing strats in the thread.. it also depends on how fast the team plays.. If they play 10 turnsets in a week it becomes more hours than if only 2 turnsets are done.
When playing the turns most of the time is usually spent writing down what you do (and why) plus taking screenshots than the actual playing.
It could be anything from 30 mins per week to 10+ hours per week depending on how involved you get :)

  1. Which level (noble, monarch, etc.) are you comfortable playing in a solo game? - Have won the occasional game at Noble but tend to do better at Warlord
  2. Have you played any Civ4 GOTM games before? - No
  3. Have you played any succession games or Civ3 SGOTM before? - No
  4. Do you have a group of players you want to play with? - No

ok im joining but what is the deadline for completing the game? im limited to play a lot of the days cos i got school + coursework
The guideline is that you should pick up the save within 24 hours of the previous player posting it, and you should post your turn log and save within 72 hours of the previous player's post. This has been found to provide a reasonable level of continuity overall. If you run much slower than this the individual players will lose track of where the game is going and the team will lose focus on its objectives.

As Gyathaar has indicated, we determine the overall guillotine date based on the progress made by the teams, but it will probably last two or three months. Your whole team will be responsible for keeping the game going. Your personal responsibility will be to warn your team when you know you will have a problem playing a set of turns, preferably in advance, so that they can rearrange the player schedule.

If you sign up knowing that you are going to be repeatedly unavailable, and asking for skips, then you are doing your team no favours. They will end up playing your turns and wanting another player ... but that is usually difficult to organise given that a replacement player should not have read any of the other team threads.

many thanks, this has cleared a lot of questions i had :)

if we can arrange a schedule, im sure ill be able to fit the game in a few days a week, thanks again

1. Which level (noble, monarch, etc.) are you comfortable playing in a solo game?
Noble to Monarch
2. Have you played any Civ4 GOTM games before?
No
3. Have you played any succession games or Civ3 SGOTM before?
Yes
4. Do you have a group of players you want to play with?
Not really, anyone who would have me

1. Princeish/Monarchish
2. Nope
3. Yep
4. OK since I haven't seen any of the idiots sign up and Jericho Hill has asked me to join his crew they will get a full on "idiot". My goal in this game will be to spread the word of idiocy beyond C3C where we've converted people on five continents in the MTDG. Jericho and Igloo Dude you're stuck with me now. :D

Which level (noble, monarch, etc.) are you comfortable playing in a solo game?

I mostly play on Monarch for fun, but occassionally play Emp.

Civ4 GOTM games before? Yes.
Any SGs before? No.
Group of players? No.

If it takes 2-3 months, we may run into some summer vacations. Do you ever bump up the number of turns per player to have games move a little faster?
