The score at 1250BC is 105.

I like what Alanh and scoutsout are doing, by editing a single post with a list of their saves. This is cool IMO and something I'll try to engineer properly into the next game (somehow).

Nice

How's this - just have one member of each team appointed to maintain the list... I can go edit my list, but another team member cannot...

Sure, but first I have to get someone in each team who is willing to do it, and third of all I have to somehow get all these people joined up so they post sequentially b4 getting seperated by spam posts.

A new thread with just one post per team for the scores and game links? And/or ruthless deletion of spam.

I have a number of ideas, but none of them are perfect or good even..

1). Create a maintenance thread where the first post is reserved for scores. Then each team leader would each create a post in the thread with a link called "Team 'N' latest save". The team leader would just edit the link each time the game is handed on.

2). The first post in each game thread could be made by the team leader. The Team leader could use the first post to indicate who is up and provide a link to the latest save.

3) The team leaders all have a link to the latest saves in their sigs.

4) I enrol in clairvoyancy classes. :cringe:

5) Just drop the whole idea and search for the saves within the game threads myself.

Only 5 is easy in principle. All other options require me to rely on a third party.

I like the ruthless deletion of Spam idea even though it would mean 93% of all my posts being deleted - including this one. But that would require moderator intervention, and would be a drain on their time.

Is it possible to create a thread where someone can create a post that can be edited by another specific person?

Option 3 sounds possible... and doesn't require paranormal powers :D

Alternative 6: Have a "SGOTM_XX Status Thread" containing only "official" posts, e.g. starting post, the score post (currently post 1 of maintenance), one post per team to be maintained by a designated person and updated with links to all saves, results post. Maybe the first post in this thread is an index post with links to the other.

This is permanent/archiveable, while signature modifications of individual players are cluttering and temporary at best.

Yes. I could put a link in the first post to the "game link" posts of each team. This is a good idea Tao. Thanks :)

is it at all possible for the GoTM staff to develope a seperate page for uploading saves, similar to the GoTM submittal page?

that way, mb could go to a specific location on the upload server and find the saves. scores could be collected in a database and automatically update a chart the main SGoTM page. doing all this tracking with threads/forums is going to be really troublesome. think of what this thread and forum is going to look like when it gets to SGoTM2 or 3 or 10...

actually, why do you even need the saves at this time? imho, trust that the teams will post an honest score and then update the chart for tracking. if a blip shows up due to an incorrect result for 1 or 2 reports, who cares? save the .sav review till the end. the end score is what will determine who wins, not these intermediate scores.
