I lived in Germany a few years back and loved the way that shoe sizes were done. I don't remember the specifics, but I do know that there were a LOT more sizes to choose from.

In the US, sizes go by the half inch and there is no 'real' standard. In some brands I wear a 10 1/2, in others it is 11 or 11 1/2,

So enlighten me. Are we the only country in the world that really doesn't pay attention to our feet? Ou there countries out there that have shoes that actually fit?

I've noticed that too, in the US I'm a 10 1/2 or 11, depending. But French shoe sizes were no better, alas...

(fancy that: a Frenchman saying the French way is not the best. What on Earth is this world coming to?)

Its "made in China". Thats why we don't have uniformity.

Who wears shoes anyway? Cowboy boots or nothing, thank you kindly. They're perfect for any occasion that requires any sort of full length leg-covering-clothing-stuff. Whether it's sweats, denim jeans, dockers, slacks, or a full-blown tux, nothing beats them.

By the way, best learn your width if you're going to buy boots. Me, I am a 11 D.

Flip Flops FTW!!!

I wear my Brazilian flip flops everywhere except church, and when I go running. They're teh aweome!

On Topic-I have no idea how our sizes work, but I too noticed that problem.

I wear Tennis Shoes all the time. You never know when you are going to need to run.

I have so much trouble finding shoes that fit...but maybe that has something to do with my shoe size - 17 US or 50 european

Gotta get me a pair of those.

Not sure if you can find them in Yankeeland, though, I had to go all the way to New Mexico to get me a respectable hat...

Like downtown I'm a big flip-flop fan. It's all about convenience.

No I like running I need shoes on me. My feet are wide so I get any wide variety of shoe they have. I think I'm an 11.

I always forget if UK sizes are 1 size bigger than US sizes or 1 size smaller.

Anyway, UK sizes are either 1 size bigger than US sizes or 1 size smaller, so we have the same weird shoe size conundrum.
