SimCity Cities!

I have problems getting the people to ride the buses. It matters not where I build the stops, people just don't seem to use them.

WTH Perfection! How do you do that???
Just a little exploit I know.

BTW, have you seen my cities in your Simcity 2000 thread?
I have seen that you have posted them but I have not yet looked at them (but I will)

Either that's clever modding or Photoshop/Paint effort used. I'd go with the latter mostly
NOPE! This can all be done with just SimCity 2000 SE. I don't know about other versions, but I'd suspect similar results.

If you have a high-density city, put bus stations near the large residential towers and scatter bus stations throughout your commercial and industrial regions. If you have a low-density town, you may want to use a parking garage.

Also, keep in mind that if you have a high-class town with a lot of rich people, you won't get many people using the bus. Try replacing it with a subway or even a monorail system, and you might get better uptake.

I have the large school... I had 3 schools.... I got the evil school bus mission (and a cool nuke power plant. Harness the power of the nuke today!) but nothing with ice cream trucks. What missions must they be about?
I should really post screenshots of my cities in Great Region... I like that region...

Great Region Spaceport

Spaceport.jpg

I used the Lot Editor and saved an already-downloaded object and modified it into a runway thing by changing the boundaries and terrain and stuff. It's classed as a recreational object and I can't seem to change it. I made it cost 200,000 simoleans and it increases desirability within a large area. It was going to create pollution, but I decided "forget that" because I have buildings that remove airborne pollution from industry, but not traffic (for some reason). I also modifed the spaceport with railway tracks and positioned it next to the spaceport runway, so it looks like they link up.

Airport luggage trams with carriages look like trains on the tracks, along with semitrailer tanker cars and stuff.
I can't seem to flip certain tiles in another direction like the airports have. I need a bit of Lot Editor and Plugin Manager training, but it's not a bad runway... it's mostly for show (and it costs 200 to maintain I think) and will be expensive to destroy (unless you bomb it first or set it alight)

The runway is used for spacecraft to land, and the jet fighter and cargo planes are meant to be V/STOL aircraft, so they don't need a large runway to takeoff and land... (only one jet fighter is available and I can't seem to get it to show up on the list of U-Drive-It vehicles or use it in a mission. The other two hangars are for the spacecraft to be stored underneath)

Nice!, though I highly recommend you zone in parcels to get larger high-tech industry buildings.

(I'll post and example a bit later)

So a 5x5 block isn't good?

I prefer gridlock patterns. Wide range of buildings can be placed around it, less mess and no automatic streets which mess everything up!

I'm trying to make an Arcology structure. Do you know how I could make it with the Lot Editor and Plugin Manager? I found an Arcology on the Sim City 4 website, but that's industrial and I want a residential arcology (because Great Region is meant to have a few around, full of middle class people mind you, not those annoying rich guys!)

BTW: The Lot Editor shows me a few Industrial structures, I don't think any are larger than 4x5 or 4x4 or something...

I always use a 6 by 8 in Sim City 4.

It's a shame that Maxis isn't making Sim City 5.

Anyway, does anyone else get annoyed when cities form unrealistically? Like where the city abruptly stops, and several skyscrapers are on the very edge of the city?

Check this little Sim City project from the NES forum.

Anyway, would anyone mind if I posted the progress of a city of mine from the game City Life?

I was wondering what type of mods and lots would you people advise for downloading?

As always, Network Add-on Mod(NAM) is a priority mod you have to download from www.simtropolis.com (that is if you have both simcity 4 and rush hour installed)

For the lots, it really depends on what your city needs.

p.s. sorry i haven't put up any pics in a while - school has just started :(

This thread really makes me want to fire up SC4 and make some cities.

Earlier today I built a city where the residents were forced to take buses. When I get around to it, I'll post screenshots.

edit - screenshots:

Version A of the no-car city uses bus stations at every intersection (except in industrial areas where frieght trucks need to get out.)

Version B of the no-car city uses subway stations. This version tends to have fewer traffic problems than version A, but costs a lot more to maintain.

I've plotted out a region for SC4. The results:
