Update 2 2007-Year of Civil War

We start of with North America. It has again been a peaceful year nations such as Quebec and Canada.

Canada and Newfoundland peacefully united with each other. Newfoundland has also been included under Canada’s Equalization Payments Scheme that gives money for development to the poorer provinces. Something that Newfoundland desperately needs. And economies have unified along with the militaries. This has caused a boost to Canadian economy as it now has nice ports on the Atlantic that are not constantly ice logged. In addition it can now tap the oil of Newfoundland’s coast and has immediately begun to do so. Newfoundland is now a province of Canada and has 7-8 MPs in the House of Commons, and 2 Senators.

In Mexico the government begins economic development continuing their projects to rebuild city slums and provide new services.

In South America interesting things are happening. Argentina and Chile declared a union known as the USSA. The Union of Socialist South America.

However this unification was not meant to be peaceful.
Pro-democracy rebels in South America attempted a coup. Supplied by American made weapons the rebels attacked government buildings of the USSA. The leaders of the communist government were killed as the rebels stormed the buildings. The rebels immediately declared the USSA to be a democracy. However the pro-communist forces were not happy with this.

The militaries, nations, and people of the USSA have been completely split along two lines. Democrats and Communists. Two different ideologies both fighting for a different cause. The result?
Civil War

The Democratic White Army controls the north while the Communist Red Army controls the south. So far no clashes have occurred as both the White and Red Army are solidifying the control of their respective territories. But that will not last….

Peru and Paraguay angered by American intervention in South America have both announced their withdrawal from DITO.

What the reactions of other nations will be is yet to be determined.

In addition DITO promises to aid to the Greeks in their battle against Yugoslavia and amasses a large force. Yugoslavia is put under heavy international pressure and a blockade is imposed by the US 2nd Fleet.

Yugoslavia meanwhile bows to international pressure and withdraws from Greece. The USA then removes the blockade.

Then Yugoslavia promptly explodes. The Yugoslavian military angry at the withdrawal of forces carries out a bloody coup d’etat against the democratically elected government.
Yugoslavian military forces including the newly formed Red Guard surround government buildings. And a siege takes place. After several days of blockade the Red Guard storm the government buildings killing and capturing members of the government.

After taking power the military junta installs a Communist Government Tito style. And declares the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The economy system is changed to Socialist Self-management. Healthcare was made free and worker pay increased. This has caused more happiness among the people coupled with propaganda about peace, brotherhood, freedom, and equality

So far there have been some disturbance with pro-Democracy but they have all been resolved peacefully so far. However that may not continue to be the case….

Further south in Greece the Greek Military took up the positions abandoned by the Yugoslavians. Greece has now regained all its land. However the military’s and the people’s moral is low as they were almost delivered a crushing defeat.

North of these events in Central Europe peace has also been made. Germany and Hungary came to an agreement where Germany fully reimbursed Hungary for damages and in exchange Austria minus the port on the Mediterranean were annexed into Germany and made an autonomous province.

Meanwhile fortifications were built along the Franco-German border. To what reason no one knows….

In Russia the government continued it’s language reforms granting freedoms to the minorities.

But down south things do not go well. The Shah of Persia declared a new independent state and the Russian armies marched down to support their ally.
This of course did not sit well with Ayollath Khomeni.
Iranian extremist forces infiltrated the Shah’s territory and began launching guerilla attacks against the Russians. Car bombings, suicide bombings, hit-and-run attacks have taken a heavy toll on the Russians. The extremists know the territory well and have used this to their advantage. It is a nightmare of guerilla and urban warfare as the fight is taken even to the cities.

The Russians and the Shah face a hopeless situation. The Shah has absolutely no population support and his actions have inflamed the people. All the citizens are up in arms and the Shah’s men desert in droves. The Shah’s army has completely collapsed and the Russians are only propping him up.

The Ayatollah has in addition called for Jihad against the “Russian infidel dogs” Many has answered the call and volunteers from Pakistan and the Islamic Confederation flock to join the Ayatollahs army. In addition the Extremist Army is receiving training and aid from other nations.

Meanwhile the Russian provinces of Afghanistan and Central Asia begin full-scale revolt. Inflamed by Russian actions and the call to Jihad the citizens take to the streets burning and looting killing all the Russians they can find. Russian troops are sent in to restore order and there are stories of massacres and shootings on the very streets.

The situation remains extremely volatile on the ground as the Russians face the situation alone after the collapse of the Shah. Revolts have spread through Russia’s Muslim provinces and the forces of the Ayatollah are ever growing with many eager volunteers who swell his ranks. What happens will remain to be seen.

Elsewhere Russia introduced more control on the border making it more difficult for illegal immigrants to cross Russia’s vast border.

In the Middle East the Arabic Confederation and the UIR have combined to form the Islamic Confederation. The political capital is in Baghdad while the religious one is in Mecca. This has been talked about for many years and now the people are rejoicing.

This comes with many economic benefits as well as large amounts of the worlds oil resources are now under the Islamic Confederation’s control. And the combination of economies and militaries have made the Islamic Confederation the number 1 power in the Middle East and quite possibly one of the great powers in the world.

In the Far East the Tibetan and Uighar rebellions spread and grow, as the Chinese do nothing about it. All of Tibet and Xijiang are now in rebel control. This has many of the Chinese people upset with their government for not doing anything.

In Japan the militarization continues….

In the Pacific Federation the slave labor of the prisoners have continued only it has been remade based on a points system where the criminals can earn their freedom by working for a period proportional to their crime. The Pacific Federation was much happier about this then blatant slave labor.

Now to matters on the Dark Continent. South Africa invaded the Rhodesian Confederation! The air force struck first wiping out Rhodesian military and communication infrastructure. Then the South African army poured in and began advancing toward Salisbury. The Rhodesians were slow to react and that resulted in the South Africans with close air support rapidly advancing and taking Salisbury with limited resistance.

After the fall of Salisbury the Rhodesian scrambled aircraft into the air as the South Africans began the second phase of their operations to capture the capital Lusaka. The Rhodesian and South African air forces battled each other in the skies for hours before ultimately ending with a South African victory.

The bulk of the Rhodesian air force was destroyed and the rest retreated to avoid annihilation. Having undisputed air superiority the South Africans own the sky and turn their wrath again on Rhodesian and military and communication infrastructure.
With close air support the South African army attacking from Angola bee lined for Lusaka stopping just short of it due to heavy Rhodesian resistance and long distance..

10 South African ships blockaded and began shelling Beria. So far it has not fallen but that will not last as refugees flee from the path of the South African army who now advance unopposed through the country.

Rhodesia nears collapse as it’s military has been broken completely and nothing stands in South Africa’s way for complete victory.

I suppose the nationalist wing of Quebec's government will be yelling very loudly about Canadians enveloping poor Quebec by now... And, you should remvoe the capital in Newfoundland.

For the record, Newfoundland came to Canada, and asked to be a province once more in the Canadian Confederacy. We were only too happy to oblige, to ensure that the people of Newfoundland and Labrador enjoy the same rights and freedoms as the people of Canada do.

Quebec is not a part of the Confederacy of Canada, and in fact peacefully seperated from the Confederacy of Canada. Unless that situation changes, then Canada will continue to respect Quebec as a neighbour of Canada, and continue the status quo, which has been friendly relations between Canada and Quebec. Quebec, of course, shall see no change in their access to the Pacific Ocean through the Northumberland Strait, or anything of the sort.
