Ski Patrol

No idea, didnt think that far ahead. Also never had the luxury of playing Civ 2, didnt own a computer till a few years ago. No idea even where to put him in the tech tree. I do think that on top of the more normal abilities that you might give it, that you should definitely give it some sort of crazy boost in tundra and ice. Maybe even also some sort of snow promo for other units to help counter it. Kinda like those terrain promos in colonization.

Well, I think giving them the ability to traverse peaks would certainly be a must. Other than that I'm not entirely sure. Maybe a slightly weaker Marine with some type of bonus on Tundra/Ice that can cross peaks?

Is there a way to set it so that you must have a certain terrain type in your culture borders to build it?

Dont believe ive ever seen anything require a terrain type before. Of course a city needs to be on an ocean to build ships, not exactly the same but maybe that would be a starting point for you. Sounds like it would require some python mojo.

Double movement on snow/snowhill terrain?
If that would be possible: unit which can walk on ice (water terrain with ice feature thus). Imagine a transport debarking some alpine troops on the packice, moving on to that enemy city mostly surrounded by ice.

That would be neat. Seems Ive opened up a can of worms with this unit.

I would just give them guerilla I+II as starting promotion :).

Yes it does, but it's not very complicated.
GIR has made a modcomp, the Templo Mayor wonder, and Tsentom1 has done it with another wonder, where the first needs a peak, and the second needs....desert...or so.
The principle is the same, can easily be ported to units.

Well, I was basically thinking that if you didn't have the proper terrain in which to train these units it wouldn't really make sense to have them. Although I suppose it would still be possible to train them in an ally's country, but I was just thinking of adding it to my mod (since I am nostalgic about those little yellow Alpine Troops from Civ 2) but limiting it to civs with tundra or ice or whatever in their territory.

Boring!:) No, offense. Im just tired of boring units and UUs. Add a point of strength here, free promotion there. Its harder for early ones, so theyre understandable. But theres so much room to do cool stuff with the later units. Like for instance what Capo wants to do, or along those lines.

Thats good to know. Thanks, will look into it.

Does this dude use the Skis or not?

No it does not. That would be silly if you think of how it would look on 90% of the tiles. I though of making custom animation with it doing that but scraped that idea. Plus the segway between animations would be extremely awkward, unless I had it wearing the skiis at all time.

Well there was the Alpine Trooper unit in Civ2 that used skis.

For some reason this guy thinks red skisuits are in fashion on Chiron. Anyone have an idea what's causing this misplaced fashion sense? I did not forget to include the paratrooper dds. This is the no_fx version.

Try this one, and report how it looks.
What I did was remove the teamcolor nisourcetexture (there were 2 texture links in the model).
