SkizzNES

This Nes is my first but do not let this scare you away as it is my intension to make this work. The Nes that I want to create is more or les based on FëuroNES: Let's Get Medieval, but with minor variations and new methods of dealing with IC stats and so forth.

The setting is around 814 at the death of Cherles the Great, the world has plunged into the dark ages after the fall of the Roman Empire, in these uncertain times it is every man for him self. The prominent forces of the time are still the Catholic Church, but other forces lurk in this age of chaos, The Vikings in the north raiding and plundering as they please, in the south the Muslims are growing greater by the month threatening the Christian world. So to survive in these dark times it is vital to put nation first suspicion is the name of the game.

This NES will also revolve around stories which you write about your nation, stories can benefit you in many ways. E.g. if you write a story about soldiers your troops might be upgraded or in another way benefitted. You can write any story and it will be considered by me for Bonuses.

Authority: you King or leader has a certain amount of Authority, this directly influences Stability as your leader plays a prominent part in your nation. Authority can be gained through Projects (improved Libraries) or it can be gained through suppression and fear ( this would only likely be done in newly gained territory) the more Authority you have the more stability you are likely to get.

Chain of Command: is a new view on Nessing that I would like to try out, Your faction will all have some sort of leadership wether it be Kings or chieftains doesn’t matter. The role of a Commander is to lead your troops into battle; depending on the Commanders ability to lead this will give your army a better chance to be victorious.
All nations as said start of with a King and a faction Heir. But as your nation grows and the need for more army groups you are able to perches new commanders
A commander costs 1000 and comes with a small standard army of 500 spearmen and 250 archers and 50 Mounted Knights, maintenance will also have to be paid the turn of purchase. (you can name your own Commanders with in reason)
When your King dies obviously your Heir takes over, but you can create your own Royalty, Commanders that you deem have proven them selves in battle can also become Royalty to your liking.

Income: is a mix on standard taxes, bases on amount of cities and productivity. Income can also be gained through Projects, like improved trade roads, or expansion of port cities. The amount of IC gain from projects will be determined by me depending on explanation and feasibility. A poorly explained project might only receive 250 IC were as a well explained project would receive 750 IC, also depending on feasibility. IC can also be gained from raiding and annexing enemy territory.
Raiding is mostly done by navel nations and will be done anonymously, But even so depending on stability and navel experience these raids can back fire and provoke war.

Religion: is also an important part of this NES, having nearby countries of the same religion is good for relations, and like wise stability will be affected by nearby countries of different religions. Religion also helps you negotiate with NPC and their likelihood of an agreement due to the same religion. Religion can also increase your stability by building churches through projects.

Culture: is mostly done by your general knowledge of the nation, stating the beliefs and ambitions and goals that your nation are interested in. This is your chance to have a say in your nation’s public appearance.

Army units: There are many different units in this game but here are the units that all can start of with. (Further units will have to be proposed and checked for feasibility)

Spearmen: 1000 for 500 IC .2 IC per troop for maintenance
Archers: 500 for 500IC .5 IC per troop for maintenance
Noble Knights: 100 for 200IC 3IC per troop for maintenance
Mounted Knights: 100 for 400IC 4IC per troop for maintenance
Light cavalry: 100 for 100 1IC per troop for maintenance

You can purchase any amount of troops the numbers above are not binding in any way just an indication of costs and maintenance

Descriptions:
Spearmen: The standard unit of every army this main body may not be the strongest of units but in numbers they stand strong together.

Archers: also a very basic unit in an army group works best together with a majority of Infantry in front. Can fight close combat

Noble Knights: an elite unit of troops highly trained Infantry wielding Sword shield and heavy armour. This unit put together with a standard army can turn the tides. A must have unit for a big wayfaring nation.

Mounted Knights: These Elite Cavalry wielding heavy lances sword and shield, have proven that they can perform terrifying charges and have good stamina in battle. Having one of these units can be devastating to your enemy,

Light Cavalry: a light united armed with a long spear and light armour, these troops are used to flush out enemy archers and chase down routing troops. Not so affective against spearmen and heavy units.

This is important for this Nes… Create your own troops this is the fun of this nes!

Armies: can be split and merged depending on your needs for battle. Say you have to armies, army X and army Y and you decide to launch one big offensive and you decide to merge the armies you would have to pay half the entire maintenance for both armies to make the merge, likewise you will pay half all units maintenance to split an army.

Another important part of the armies are their skill and ability

Green Horn: All Army groups start of as Green Horns
Regulars: maintenance of group times 1.5
Accustomed: maintenance of group times 2
Veteran: maintenance of group times 2.5
Elite: maintenance of group times 4

So if I had a green horn army of
Kings Guard: 1000 Spearmen, 250 archers, 100 Frankish knights// 625 maintenance
I would have to pay 625x1.5 937.5 to make these troops regulars. You can not skip steps and you can only upgrade an army once a turn.

Navel forces are also a prominent part of this Nes, ports and navy are also vital for sea trade. The maintenance cost works the same as armies do. As well as the upgrading of ships.

Navel units:
Squadron 10 for 1000 40IC per vessel for maintenance
Transports 10 for 500 10IC per vessel for maintenance

Stability: Indicator of Populous happiness stability will give you an advantage if you are in the high end, like wise if you lack stability your armies and nation are affected adversely. If your stability falls too low you could face civil war or revolts, and on the other hand if you have high stability you will be rewarded 60% = +100 Income, and for every 5% you get 50 IC. At 50% you neither loose nor gain anything. Below 40% you need to worry as you start loosing IC 100 IC at 40% and an additional 50 IC for every 5% below.

You can increase your stability through 3 things Authority of your leader, Stability through projects such as churches or Libraries ( anything that you can think of that might make your nation happy)

But you can also pour IC in to the “greater good” of the nation this is a way to keep your stability at the level it is and increase it. 100 IC to maintain the level of stability and an additional 100 IC to increase the stability by 5% you can only use maximum an additional 200 IC for stability, meaning only a 10% increase every turn Max.

Education: your percentage of education is an indicator of how well and how cheaply you can research. High % means less time and less money spent on research, like wise Low % means more time and money spent on research

Projects: the projects can be used to create additional IC, but in some cases it can be used to create defences, in short any non scientific development.

Research: has to be proposed 1 turn ahead for a feasibility check costing 1 IC, once feasible you can put more IC into the research. You can suggest anything for research, but it has to be realistic in the perspective of time.

Thx tons for joining map is up in a moment! =D

But you will have to do with the amount of spain you got, Austuria still exists.

thats cool Darthnader

What do you mean? Asturias is a fundamental part of Hispania!

This is the years following the death of Charles the Great and my sources tell me that Austuria still exist as an independant entety

Map almost up

I made Hispania during Feanor's NES, and Asturias certainly was there. If this is like Feanors, you will only get a little territory, and have to expand...they will pop up.

This is alot later then Feanor's NES 814 AD the expansion had been done

OCC: Players list is one the way it will take a while to get the stats up for all the nations.

Map is now up

are you guys haveing any trouble in Looking at the map?

damn, I spend nearly half an hour making up a story and now you tell me that it isn't going to happen at all???? You could, at least, have said that in the instructions!

EDIT: According to what I see in the map, Asturias, Galicia, Cantabria, León and Castile are part of the same kingdom. Navarre and Aragón seem to be shared by France and Cordoba, La Rioja is part of Cordoba and Catalonia is French. So, Asturias is part of Hispania. I'll have to change the story so that the real territories hold to the truth. :(

I wil imcorprate the story and you havent lost alot, im sorry.

Darth could you post me a tamplate like Milarquie did you know with blanks for stability and all that but with the rest of the info?

and darth could you tell me how add a photo into a spoiler, this may sound noobish, but its my first NES and all need a little help plz

I'll just have to erase Catalonia, Aragón, Navarre and La Rioja from the list of territories held by Hispania. I hope that France is willing to let go of those terrains in my side of the Pyrenees ;);).

EDIT: Darth, why are you now choosing to direct the Caliphate? It's this just an attempt to bother me?

Calling Carolingia.

sorry what do you mean by Carolingia Nations list will be up soon then you create template
