Small Observations General Thread (things not worth separate threads)

Last night I had just entered the Modern Age and was in the process of converting a hostile Independent Power to a City-State. Confucius was clearly sending troops to clear it out, so I killed the troops guarding the IP and stationed my infantry on the tile to keep Confucius from clearing it. Several turns later it was gone anyway. I’m not sure as to how or why.

I has well over 4 temples in the game i am doing right now and I think i saw the unlock, but you are right that I didn't have it unlocked at Age Transition. :(
Ok. I thought it was just me. They're one of the civs I want to play too, building 4 temples should be one of the easiest unlocks...
Had the same thing too in my last game yeah.
I've also unlocked the shawnee twice but had the unlock screen for them randomly show up halfway through the exploration age (although I think in that case they did still show up as an option).
Does anyone know how to report a bug? This is kinda annoying :(

I just cheked and There's a couple of posts in the civ fanatics bugs forum. I am sure they do read it. But you could add your comments to that.

There's also the 2K support site if you want to be official, but I ain't no snitch.

Did the same thing, though it was in the Exploration Age, with the same result even after trying a few things after reloading 3 times.

Be careful when you unselect the social policy that gives +1 spread to missionaries. Especially if you have some on the map with one charge left - don't waste your time looking for them, it's added and subtracted in real time...
Almost removed that Policy, but stopped when i thought that might happen. Nice to have confirmation.

I haven't been getting my unlock pop ups. I've received a few, but then at each transition there are a bunch that shouldn't be automatic also available.

Also, anyone has problems with unlocking Siam? I have had this happening to 3 times already. If you don't play leaders or civs which unlock Siam, building 4 Temples or have 3 Ivory temporarily shows Siam unlocked, but during the Age transition, it still is locked. Does this happen to anyone else?
I’ve reported this in the bugs forum. More than that, I was locked out of Siam while playing as Chola, so you’re not safe even with your civ choice unlocks.

Yeah! I though one of my temples must have been pillaged.

I did that and nothing happened. Where is the Merchant supposed to be for this to work?

You need to build a merchant on the city you want to connect, then click this button:

After that, all possible connections should light up, like Puteoli in this case. This is what feels wrong about this system. Puteoli LOOKS connected via Bactria and Burdigala, but it's not. Also, the info about the connection range is nowhere to be seen (the merchant could show a tile radius).

I'm really disappointed with the narration on this game. When they announced Gwendoline Christie, I was worried the game would have less voiced lines due to budget, as happened to Civ VI. I didn't expect to be even worse. In Civ VI, they reduced the exclusive intro text to each leader and added a portion that was reused across games. On VI, the intro texts have a single line read. That's a bummer, I loved Civ V's loading screen.

At least Civ 6 had 3 quotes for each tech and civic. Civ 7 has one each, and it's the same quote for masteries as the base tech or civic.

I snorted when Gwendoline read a single sentence that’s something like “Banners out for Qing!”, and that was it for the whole loading screen :crazyeye:

Something I've been noticing more and more is seeing the seams between the tiles of the map. Is anyone else seeing this?
I am seeing this sometimes, too! It's not all the time, and can't put my finger on when it comes up. I am playing on a high-end Mac computer. The game runs flawlessly aside from this.

It's hard to believe that Gwendoline Christie costs more than Sean Bean.

I would imagine for something like this they cost whatever the rate set by SAG (or the British equivalent, depending on where they recorded) is for big name actors to do voice over for video games. That rate could be higher today than for most of the recording of Civ 6.

Bean is a bigger name than Christie, is my point.
