Small Observations General Thread (things not worth separate threads)

I'm noticing from playthrus that the "narrative" events seem to be binary. That is to say, it is "this" or "that" -- and when they come up, it is as simple as deciding between a stat, e.g., +science or +culture. I'm wondering if any of you have seen, or if devs have considered, more complicated narrative events that build and grow and are not so game-y. If you learn a song from a tribe, can that evolve into a legendary work, for example -- or maybe taking the science option angers a nearby civ or creates a deeper opportunity for interaction/connection with a polity. It would be great if narrative events were actually narrative. At the moment they seem like simple buffs with a new dressing. Do any of these events have negative effects, or more complicated decision-making?

Thinking, of course, of Old World and its events which demand difficult decisions that unravel a larger story. Now that's narrative. I may have not seen these in the playthrus, but was curious; apologies if I missed something. Always seeking 4x that isn't afraid to tell a story!
They are a little bit more complicated. There are some in which there are more than two choices, and some in which you're choosing between a quick sum and a quest to complete or the prospect of a future choice.

So answer me this: why is the production cost listed in the tooltip for an item in the Purchase menu but not in the nearly identical tooltip for an item in the Production tab of the same menu, in which it would actually be helpful to see the production cost?
My argument to why the devs may do this is so that you can compare the two costs, you have to remember I'm on your side just trying to play devil's advocate

Thank you, that's nice to hear!

Another Q I had was about elimination of AI opponents. Do we know if there is a re-spawn option? Not necessarily that Ben Franklin respawns if you eliminate him in the ancient era, but maybe another leader is plopped down elsewhere in the next era. This could also simulate dramatically different tech levels in civs, but create other challenges for the player. The world might feel more alive, in addition to the ages system.

No, I have not seen any eliminated leaders respawn or be replaced.

The UI is so bad and I'm less and less hopeful for it being fixed at launch. Looks like we'll have to rely on mods to fix it.
UI is one of the last things to be polished in a game like this. It's quick to do and is often done in the last moment. Remember - we had total UI overhaul compared to first streams just several months ago. Pointing out UI problems could be helpful, but I'm pretty sure it will be improved a lot with each patch (including zero day patch)
Sumerian independent power conquers most of Rome:

I watched only the beginning so far, but I knew it won't end well once I see scout spam of that scale on deity.

It's not for the player fond of scouts that things got bad though. On the contrary, they almost got all legacy points.
Yes, I watched further, and it took really long time to found any hostile powers, so probably scouts worked well, but 5 of them look a bit too many to me anyway

The player is Greece, and he's doing very well. It's AI Rome that got clobbered.

I don't know if this was ever resolved in English, but it's Vatican City of the Papal State People. And a lady Pope, how progressive!

I think we are watching the same video. There are quite a few more.

Maybe FXS removed some tooltip texts from the press preview version to prevent revealing exact cost of things?

And I'll just have you all note the color of the banner behind her. They're the Purple Papal People, people.

Would be either Kulin, or specifically the Wurundjeri, since Birrarung is the Wurundjeri/Boonwurrung word for the Yarra River and lends its name to the modern park.
