The celebrations lasted into the night, and over the next couple of days. Thousands of Bombayans danced and drank jovily around the statue, complete in all its glory.

Soon, hundreds of new pioneers would trek across the Ganges, or down into the unknown of Southern India. What would they find? Famine, disease, death? That did not matter to the pioneers, for they were brave and had no fears of the horrible things that might come on a journey.

That is what the statue was meant to symbolize.

Also, in the port of Bombay, ships carrying settlers would sail to far away lands in hope of claiming them for Bombay. Thier success was questionable, but they hoped for riches and valuables in the far away lands.

All over Bombay brave pioneers were headed off to thier destinations, and the people were celebrating them.
